There is always a day that a cub should ordinarily become a lion, there is always a day that the little toddler should run, there is always a day that the pregnant woman will

become a mother, there is always a moment that the trainee of yesterday will become a champion. It is simply a law of nature.

Unfortunately, that cub might never become a lion, that toddler might never run, that pregnant mother might never give birth, that trainee might never become a champion. It is a sad reality of life.

Why? It might never happen because of an enemy of fulfilment called distraction. Distraction is the enemy of greatness, it's the enemy of reproduction and distinction. No matter how talented or brilliant you are, distraction will always limit you.

There is always something that has denied each and every person the opportunity to bake that cake, to write that book, to speak on that podium, to start that business, to make that marriage work, to make that career blossom, to leave that awful job, to take that bold step to victory, to stop that dreadful habit. The fuel in which the engine of distraction runs on is the needless justification of the wrong we are fond of doing repeatedly, even when it is clear we need a new approach to things.

I have found out since my 30th birthday for some mysterious reasons every time there is an event that will set one apart from the crowd; that moment of glory, hour of distinction, that will cement all cumulative efforts to guarantee positive results, there will be another "important" engagement (albeit not important when all factors are put into consideration) that one will prefer or one will be obliged to attend to instead of that moment of glory. It is indeed very strange.

There is a need for one to be very wary of the assumed good that will kill your best! Never fall into this trap. Always identify that thing that can deny you the opportunity to stand out. Take note of that habit, relationship, and party, duty that you will put ahead of the age long opportunity which will open doors for you now or later. Whatever will make you great always starts like a little seed, but you have to identify it.

Do not fall into that trap, there is always something that won't make you take the bold step on the special day. It is always like aset up, but at that point it won't occur to you till you miss the opportunity. Later, it will all come to you but it might be too late in most case store-write the script.

Let me break this down a little further; you will hardly find a professional footballer who is also a professional gymnast or a professional basketballer that also plays professional volleyball, because physical talents require a lot of physical exertion so you have to concentrate on the professional field you have chosen to express your talent on the long run. On the other hand, you will discover that a creative writer can be a public speaker, a TV presenter and a teacher all at once professionally, because mental exercises can also be exhaustive but they can be expressed on a multiple scale from time to time without a physical breakdown.

These talents have to find expression for an individual to fulfil destiny and happiness in life. Initially, a lot of people in Nigeria have missed out in expressing their physical talents because many parents choose careers for their children, but later rediscovered themselves to unearth the mental talents, not only did they unearth them, they did great exploits with them. Now, this is very key, whether you want to unearth your physical or mental talent, you have to first identify them. Once you identify them, they are like pregnancies once identified, they will begin to grow from within and also begin to push for delivery. You either abort them through fear and lack of confidence or you give birth to them. The process of giving birth to them is what I call: APPOINTMENT WITH DESTINY.

I have to further define what appointment with destiny means; it is the day the talent in you finds expression on a big stage. Initially, you would have noticed you had a gift in you yearning for expression, it often happens without much noise, a few people would have noticed it too, and they probably would have asked you times without number to develop it. Most times you won't do anything about it because you haven't come to the realization of it, but just like a pregnant woman can't hide a pregnancy, so it is for the talent within you, one day someone will encourage and practically push you to express the talent on a big stage. This for me is the most crucial moment. This is the moment many people provide different excuses for, where fear and discouragement will rear their ugly heads, if you miss this moment, you might settle for less forever, you might never get the opportunity to fulfil destiny ever again. Strangely, distractions tend to step in every time there is a call for you to mount that podium where the whole world will see you do your stuff, the podium that will announce you to the world. This is the moment you should be careful to never overlook, do not fall for the temptation to settle for the ordinary on a day like this. Never fall for it!
