BREAKING OFF LIMITS 2 RIGHT ATTITUDE

It is a common saying that your attitude is your altitude. Your approach to life, your perspective or response to life issues will determine where you will get to. Though you are born again with the Holy Ghost in you, even though you confess positively but if your attitude is wrong, you may not make it to the peak God has planned for you. Why is it so? It is because life itself is dynamic; if you don't move with life, you will soon be left behind. Many have been left behind and are now complaining. Don't complain or blame others for whatever happens; it is what you give out that comes back to you.

In the days of Moses, about two million Jews left Egypt but only few of them got to the promised land because of their wrong attitude. All through the journey, the Israelites kept on complaining and murmuring until God's anger came on them. Many times we read about Abraham being called by God and we often think it was Abraham that was first called by God. No! Abraham's father, Terah, was first called by God and though he started moving towards the promise land, he changed his mind on the way and stopped moving.

Gen 11:31-32

31. And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go

into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

32. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

Terah died without getting to where God planned for him because he stopped on the way. It was after Terah's death that God now called Abraham.

Gen 12:1

Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

Terah was called by God, lived to be 205 years old but never fulfilled the plan of God for his

life. Terah started with God, along the way, he abandoned divine instruction because of the comfort he encountered in Haran. He must have thought "even though God told me to go to Canaan, this place is also good enough to be enjoyed". This was his attitude until he died and God saw Abraham, his son, as a replacement. May God not replace you; may you fulfill God's plan for your life. Have a positive mind towards your expectation. What are you expecting?

Somebody has a cup with water but not full. Two people saw the cup of water from different perspectives. One said the cup is half full the other said the cup is half empty. The two of them are right but while one is focusing on the emptiness, the other is looking at what is available. In life, you can either see problems as challenges or you see them as difficulties.

The same problem that Goliath's threat brought to Israelites became opportunity for a small 17-year-old boy called David to come to limelight, honour and fame. He attempted what others were running from. In your life, accept difficulties as challenges not as problem. They will soon be the platform for your rising if you won't quit. Whatever the delay or challenge you encounter, don't ever stop praising and thanking God for anticipated miracles.

God is a good God, no wonder He admonishes us to always praise Him.

19. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Eph. 5:19-20

When you are thankful because of what you see, even in the midst of challenges, you will see God working things out for you. The fact that you are on a mountain shows there is a valley around you as well. When you are facing a mountain, it means the valley is nearby. So don't let your focus be on the mountain or what the enemy is doing; don't focus on the darkness because behind every darkness is a light. If there is no darkness, there is no light. It is darkness that defines light.

How can you thank God for all things? It is because God can work through anything, He can work things out, no matter how messy they seem to be. When a pot is broken, people throw it away but God doesn't do that. He repairs the broken pot. He is the potter and you are the clay. When people say it is finished, God says "I am just starting, I am the A and the Z, the alpha and Omega and you are in-between". Therefore, nobody can say it is over for you until God says so. May you learn to thank God.

Murmurers are destroyed. Don't murmur but thank God. In the midst of challenges, learn to dance your way to blessing.

Hear Paul speak in Rom 8:32

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Whatever you desire is inferior compared with Jesus. Paul says if God could give you His best gift, there is nothing you ever need in life that He cannot give. God is a God who weighs action. It is true that God is great but if your thinking is negative, if your attitude is that you cannot make it, then you will not make it. It is not because God is limited but because you have limited God through your negative attitude.

In 1st Samuel chapter one, Hannah went through provocation from Peninnah until God answered her. As long as Hannah reacted to Peninnah's taunts, she remained sorrowful though she was loved by her husband. This continued until she went to God in Shiloh in the bitterness of her soul. Eli's insensitive remark towards her was enough for Hannah to think everything was working against her but she humbly explained herself to the man of God.

1 Sam 1:16

Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

With this response, Eli did not even bother to ask what her prayer request was, he simply prayed for her.

1 Sam 1:17

Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

The good news is that Hannah's prayer was answered, she gave birth to Samuel who was more than 10 children. If not for Peninah's unfriendly attitude towards Hannah, she wouldn't have prayed and and if not for her prayer, she wouldn't have had Samuel. Beloved, your enemies' attack is all working for your good. You will eventually thank God when you see how oppositions have been turned around.

1 Sam 2:3

Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

May you pass God's test by having a right attitude to life; not being lazy and indolent. May you learn to continuously praise Him regardless of your circumstance.

The Midianites oppressed the people of Israel and they could neither buy nor sell. They became impoverished and oppressed because they lived in sin and God decided to fold His hand to watch His beloved children under the tyranny of enemies for a while. The enemies were many, Israelites had neither sword nor spear and so, they were under oppression perpetually.

How do you fight an enemy that has a sophisticated weapon when you don't have ordinary spear? How do you win a battle without a shield to even protect yourself? But when God is ready to fight for you, the enemies will be sorry for themselves. It was at this time that God, out of His compassion, decided to raise Gideon for the deliverance of Israel. God had to convince Gideon that He actually wants to use him before Gideon could yield to God's call.

And Gideon assembled soldiers; 32,000 men without ammunition but God said the soldiers were too many. God instructed Gideon to tell all those who are fearful to go back home and 22,000 went back home. Two-third of Gideon's army went back out of fear! When it remained 10,000, God said they were even too many. Why? It is because God wants to take the glory. May God take glory in your life in Jesus name.

The first test God gave was the test of fear or boldness. You need not fear when you know that God is real. If you know God is real in your life, you will not yield to fear. God asked the fearful to go home because fear is not of God.

Deuteronomy 20:3 tells us not to be afraid when we battle against the enemy: And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;

Fear is different from trembling. Fear is the response of your heart while trembling is the physical evidence of fear like shaking of the legs or teeth. But whichever way, God has not given us the spirit of fear and He does not want us to tremble.

The second test God did was the test of attitude. If you will amount to something in God, you have to pass the test of attitude.

Judge 7:4-7

4. And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.

5. So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.

6. And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

7. And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

The soldiers had trekked a long distance for the battle and they suddenly saw relief (water). Majority of them dropped their instruments to enjoy the water. These men forgot their assignments and their focus was on the blessing. Only 300 men scooped water with their hands to enjoy water and also to be conscious of the assignment before them. God picked the 300 because they didn't lose their focus because of blessing.

If God sees that a man is distracted by a blessing, continuous flow can automatically be terminated. Although God planned a higher level of wealth for him, his wrong attitude in the presence of little comfort cuts short the flow of divine abundance. May it not be so in your life in Jesus name.

You can't claim you know a man's real attitude until he has blessing. If he's blessed and still maintains his good character, then you can claim to know him. It is my prayer that you will pass the test of God. In Luke 12:15, Jesus warned us to be careful of covetousness.

Luke 12:15

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

You are more than what you have or what you don't have. God has an assignment for you on earth and you need to let your focus be towards accomplishing the assignment. God picked only 300 who had the focus of where they are going; only these 300 qualified to be God's army. You must know where you are going and refuse to be faint hearted or afraid.

2 Tim 1:7

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Don't let the circumstance around you shift your focus, don't let God's blessing distract you. Live for a divine purpose and have a right attitude. God wants to bless some couples but the home is divided. They make it difficult for God to do what He wants to do. May you have a positive approach towards life.
