A Path of Bone and Poison 49 Holy Communion

With the final purchases made I felt confident in our success in the next mission. We had a qualitative increase in our levels, gear, and abilities. I did not know what our next trip would be like, but I knew we had a week to rest before we could enter the dungeon again. It was one of the rules set by the Adventurers guild. When we reached C rank we would be able to enter more often, but as Only E rank adventurers we had to wait an entire week between instances.

As battle crazy as the two of us were a weeks wait was always rather long. But we found ways to fill the time. Each of us had time to focus on things that were not related to fighting. As I said previously, Hylia is actually pretty girly. So our first day was actually spent going shopping and finishing the day at the spa. We had invited my mother, as we had not seen her in over a week.

She was shocked by the changes that could be seen in us. Not only our abilities and appearances, she seemed to have expected that. Rather what surprised her was the depth of our relationship. We had not been partners long. but we had already developed a relationship that usually takes years to reach.

We trusted each other completely, and seemed to be able to read each others minds in some aspects. What she did not know was that our particular relationship while we were intimate is what escalated our relationship to such a level.

I did not want to ruin my mothers impression of us, so I did not tell her of the lewd things we had done. Hylia on the other hand was rather open about it with her. My mother's face went deep red as she realized the things I had done to her. She was unable to look me in the eye after that, her embarrassment was that high.

When we returned home I began to meditate. It was something that I dedicated at least four hours to every day. The growth of my core was the most important aspect of my strength, so it was not something. I could neglect.

On the sixth day I finally made progress, and my core leveled up to level 3. This raises the effectiveness of my bone and poison spells by a total of 300%.

The peaceful days came to an end as it was once again time to enter the dungeon. But before that we made a quick visit to the shrine of the war goddess. We had been neglecting this, but it was something that had to be done.

When we entered the priest quickly bowed and left, despite the fact that he was in the middle of prayer. It seemed our trip last time had really effected him.

The Goddess's Voice sounded from the statue as soon as the priest left.

"I THOUGHT THAT FOOL WOULD NEVER LEAVE. PRAY AS HE MUST, WEAK FOOLS LIKENTHAT WILL ONLH EVER BE PREY TO THE STRONG. "

"Good morning your Holiness" Hylia said ashes she did a half bow "We would have been here sooner but someone insisted we wait"

I could feel a strong holy pressure descend on me as she said this. My body began tonshske from the pressure.

"IS THAT SO. WHAT SAY YOU ABOUT THIS CONCUBINE".

I gave a slight bow to the statue. "Your holiness can already observe our actions through your connection with Hylia. And the best form of communion to you is through our battles and deaths of our enemies"

The pressure disappeared, which I took as a form of satisfaction at my answer.

"INDEED. HOWEVER THIS TIME YOUR ACTIONS HAVE ANGERED THAT PEST GOD. YOU MUST BE WARY, HE WILL TAKE ACTION AGAINST YOU AS HIS PITIFUL EXISTENCE IS NOTHING COMPARED TO ME."

The voice paused for a moment, before it continued again a moment later.

"THAT BEING SAID I AM PLEASED WITH YOUR ACTIONS. THAT PITIFUL QUEEN DARED YO THREATEN MY FOLLOWERS. DEATH IS THE ONLY ANSWER TO THAT OFFENSE".

When she was done speaking to me I started to Space out. Everything after was a conversation between a goddess and her disciple. None of it pertained to me. However I did rather enjoy the serious look on Hylia's face as she communed with the goddess.

As my mind wandered time began to pass, eventually my stomache growled rather loudly as I watched their conversation. The room went silent, and the Goddess let out a hearty laugh.

"Go my champion and feed the concubine. Only a belly full of beer and food can truly bring out the warrior inside. Bring glory to this shrine, and more importantly glory to myself".

Both of us bowed to the statue of the goddess. Her word was law, and as mortals we would be fools to not comply with her wishes. The room went silent, as as we left the small shrine we noticed the pale faced priest quickly retreat into the now empty shrine.
