04. The Phoenix and the Dragon

The red headed man said,"I'm the Phoenix god Xavier and the person standing beside me is the Dragon god Ace. Our essence, what you humans call DNA was the one implanted into you "
"It feels so good talking to someone other than Ace" said Xavier , "Where am I?" I interrupted. Xavier paused for a moment and suddenly started laughing "Hahaha"
"You got some spunk kid I think I like you. Able to interrupt the Phoenix god when he's speaking, most wouldn't be able to stand in our presence "
"You're hiding your aura you fool",This was the first Ace spoke
"Oh I know what to do"Xavier said snapping his fingers and with that I felt gravity increase twenty times pushing me down and forcing me to lie flat on the floor incapable of moving a muscle. It started getting harder to breath I felt my body quiver in fear and felt dread which was than the thought of deathi didn't know he did it.
And suddenly it was gone just as fast as it had appeared
"Sorry about that , that was my aura at ten percent if you are curious and to answer your question we're in your mind space and the form you have is an astral projection of your real body and not your real body "
"Now that everything is settled we can begin with why you are here and stop wasting our limited time, Xavier"
"Okay okay" Xavier said
"We phoenix and dragons were the protectors of the heart of the universe, something that can be said to be the creator of all and controlled all life. We were born for that sole purpose to fight against anyone who desired the heart. Ygraid now called earth the planet you lived on contained the heart of the universe and bridges to all planets in the universe. There was peace for a million of years and not even a dust particle breached into ygraid.
As the Phoenix god and Dragon god we started having feuds among each other to see who was the strongest which I now regret dearly"

"You mean you wanted to see how strong you were"Ace interrupted him
"You enjoyed it as much as I did Ace, at that time at least but not now"Xavier answered
"We dragons do ont take pleasure in trivial games"
"That's the dragon pride talking isn't it"
"We are prideful unlike you shameless phoenixes with your underhanded methods"
"Okay okay Let me continue before you go on usual rants again, our fights continued for years and doing so we lost our original purpose. We became beings of war and hatred , we lost out peaceful nature and started waging war against each other . Many of our brothers and sisters died because of our uncontrollable bloodlust and all their are blood on our hands .
During one particular war where we had severely wounded each other was when we felt it , the presence of the vilest and most demonic entity. He was the first to breach and that was the first time we felt dread".That made me pause , Xavier feel dread .
Even though I hadn't known them for long I was unable to think of anything that could make them feel fear.
"I know what you might be thinking", Ace said "If we were to be at full power and not weakened by then we might have had a chance but we weren't. we were taken down in just a minute. The first time something breached the gate and we failed to do our job of protecting the heart. We were able to drive it back to the demon realm where it came from by using our life force for a burst of strength. We left our soul in our bloodstains and using the experiment we searched for a chosen. Now to the reason why you were chosen and not the others, the other unfortunate people involved in the experiment performed by those dastard humans were so full of vengeance against the people of this world, if they were given power we would have just been. creating another monster "
"What made you so sure I was not like them", I asked.
Xavier answered,"You asked for it, one you are dimwitted two you felt like there was nothing to live for , so we thought why don't we take this guy who has given up on life and give him something to live for"
"Ouch, that kind of hurts"
"Yeah, it does but it's the truth it's better to hear the bitter truth than the sweet lie "
"I guess, so what do you want me to do for you guys , protect the heart? Hate to break it to you guys like this but I'm tired of life and just want to rest in the after life without any worries"
