03. What came after

I wished I had just been killed. Death seems like an easier option in my situation. Weeks has passed by and I wasn't sure I was sane anymore,I doubted I would be able to function in human society if was to be given the freedom I always wanted.
What was left of me was just a shell of my former self. Going through the constant pain of transforming, all those painful days and nights.The pain of breaking bones is no joke and their rearrangement will drive some mad , the feeling of fur sprouting all over my body ,my fingers lengthening giving way to deadly looking claws, my hands turning into paws .
l got used to the pain of transforming but couldn't transform at will. If my guess was correct, I think the number of different types of DNA we had in our bodies was too much and we lacked the strength to exert our will on them . This continued for a year , when the days continued the transformation became so extreme , that I sometimes woke up as fully grown and emaciated lion, tiger or sometimes as a panther. I think the cause of those emaciated forms were because we were barely given the minimum food required for our survival, I grew so lean anyone could count the bones in my body with just a look. And I didn't know the number of DNA implanted in us.But I guess the random transformation was due to each DNA fighting for dominance over my body.
We took tests every week, we were led to the lab one by one with some kind metal collars around our neck which I guess makes all the animal DNA on our body inactive some way . The test were done to see if the ancient DNAs has stopped remaining dormant but it always seems to be the same.
According to the guards I have been eavesdropping on, a human can only be implanted with one animal DNA anymore than that and their body will deteriorate and will lead to death.The only reason we were still alive was the medication they made us take was the one keeping us from dying and that wasn't permanent either as day goes on our body becomes develops a resistance to the drug . Estimating the number of DNA I had in me I should have died a hundred times over if not for the drug.

The final day of the experiment came and we were labelled as failures by the scientists as they expected. Immediately that was done the guards took us to the garage of the facility loaded us all into a truck, we drove through a tunnel out of the facility. Immediately we got out ,I was assaulted by the new scent it seems like the metal collars didn't completely block our powers , the beasts in me wanted to get out of the truck and roam the forest I saw before me . Looking at the reactions of everyone even some of the guards I was not the only. This made think, maybe some of the guards were having animal DNA themselves.
We were driven some distance away from the facility. The forest looked so beautiful, seeing the outside world for a long time made me appreciate nature for the first time in my life .If I should be given another chance in life I would travel and explore but I doubted I would after all we were going to be disposed of.

They left us mentally scared , shells of our former self , beings controlled by animalistic instinct and labelled as failures for life and there was nothing left at the end of the tunnel except death.
We got out of the truck and that's when it happened. The guards pointed their guns at us and began shooting. That's when all hell broke lose , we all started running helter skelter,like headless chicken trying to survive.
I tried to run deeper in to the woods but it seems that was not suppose to be, l felt a sharp pain at the back of my head "so this it then"and everything went dark for me. I felt great regret for not appreciating the life given to me and not living to the fullest.


I woke up in a dark space.
"Where am I ?" I asked outloud ,"Wait I thought I was supposed to be dead or is this the afterlife"
"Not exactly" a voice said from behind me.I turned to the voice and two men who looked so handsome they could cause a bloodbath among women of the world and make all men hate them.
One wore a red kimono, had red hair that reached his waist it was so deep it looked like blood flowing, he had sword like eye brows with eyes that glowed blood red and a constant smile on his face. The other man wore a black kimono and had dark hair.Hos eyes glowed black, I didn't know how he made black glow but he did.
What was out of the ordinary except for their eyes ,was the red haired man had wisps of flame appearing around his body and the dark haired one had dark tentacles moving around him.
