01. The kidnapping

Doing the same thing everyday becomes very boring. Living such a monotonous life could make anybody commit suicide but the light in my life that keeps me going is all I need,Alice. Getting up everyday at the same time, wearing the same type of clothes, hailing a cab, get to the office, sit in a cubicle for twelve hours watching a computer screen and listening to my nagging boss is capable of making most sane people go mad .
But just being with Alice makes every worry fade away. It was her birthday today and I wanted to surprise her with an expensive necklace I have been eyeing for sometime now , doing that puts my personal savings in red but I knew it was worthwhile. I entered the jewelry shop and went straight for the necklace l had planned to buy,I picked it up, went to the cashier and paid for it.

Arriving at our shared apartment the first the first thing I took notice of and was most unusual was the sports car parked Infront of our apartment ,no one in our apartment complex owned a car let alone a sports car . ' Maybe it's a visitor for one of the residents here' I thought.
l didn't put much thought to it ,l put my keys in the keyhole and turned but realized it was already open. "Alice is not supposed to be back home by now, so who is it?" I asked whispering to nobody in particular. l opened the door slowly more cautious now . And what I saw tore my heart to shreds the world seemed bleak to me at that moment. The bag containing the necklace fell from my hands. I felt hot tears dribble down my face(I know what you might be thinking how can such a grown man like cry over a girl,well in my defense imagine the only thing that made you want to continue living was taken away from you). A man I have not seen before held her against the wall and was kissing her deeply. They were so into it that they didn't even notice me .
I raced out the house with that scene burned into my memories.I ran past buildings, people , without paying attention to any of them I just wanted to get rid of that scene in my head .I ran for about for about twenty minutes and came to a stop not understanding why I runned in the first place ,maybe it me trying to deny it.
It was already nighttime and it seems I was in a part of town that I didn't know much about,the slums.
l leaned against a wall trying to catch my breath the thoughts of suicide coming into my head but that's when I heard movement from down the alley .
Looking in that direction I found several homeless people looking at me strangely.
It seemed like this was where they lived and I was trespassing just then I heard the loud screeching of car tyres on asphalt. That was when a black SUV van came to a stop, blocking the alleyway .The back of the van was opened and men wearing black visors that prevented me from seeing their faces and garments with guns came rushing out. The man in the lead shouted our "Keep quiet and nobody gets hurt" .I heard several homeless people saying "it's them again". I knew immediately l was I deep shit . From finding out my girlfriend was cheating on me to getting kidnapped it seems like nothing gets better from here, does it?
They walked slowly to us seemingly highly trained maybe ex- soldier's. When the got close they started knocking us out.
Some of the homeless people attempted to shout for help but they were loaded full of bullets and dead before their bodies hit the ground .
They got to me and knocked me unconscious I didn't struggle because seeing people killed made me understood there's so much more to live for, with that everything went dark.
I woke up with a start expecting to find my on my bed with Alice between my arms but that's when the memory of what happened came flooding back,I was kidnapped.
l tried to think of anything else like where I was, the room I was in was so white it was blinding, there was a bed in one corner of the room and CCTV camera in another ,apart from those there was nothing else . l got up and realized I was in hospital robes instead of my normal work outfit which I remember I was in when the incident happened. That's when the reality of the issue really hit me.
