Why Did You Summon Me? Chapter 582

The sound of flapping wings filled Arfin City, and soon, the sound of rushing air became prominent as the angels dived . The showdown began .

Some brave angels immediately engaged some Voidwalkers in close-quarter combat . Other angels remained in the air and slashed their swords, sending sword beams to their enemies .

The Voidwalkers quickly lost the upper hand, and Arfin City was getting destroyed . The war had just begun, yet the angels quickly used their fiercest attacks, pushing the Voidwalkers to a disadvantageous situation . The school of angels had arrived a very short time after the natural disasters, leaving the Voidwalkers almost no time to prepare .

The Voidwalkers were forced to separate, and soon, each Voidwalker could be seen fighting three or more angels . They had to do this while protecting the few students that failed to leave the island on time .

More angels prioritized the Archmage, who they considered an enemy Archangel . Whenever he looked ready to chant the incantation for a spell, tens of flaming swords were swung his way . It was a brutal tactic, and the old man was struck many times .

After many strikes, the Archmage blew up . Many rays of violet light — the same violet light that scared mortified the Archangels — spread out like a shockwave, wounding the angels close by .

The angels struck by the violet light began to convulse . Screams escaped their mouths, and Divine Energy surged out of their injuries . The struggling angels were soon engulfed by flames, leaving nothing, not even ashes, behind .

These angels were not as lucky as the first two angels that were struck with this attack . After the holy war began, angels that were slain did not return to the Divine Realm; in other words, if the angels were to die here, they were dead for good . Thus, their angels' souls, which would fade immediately upon death, would be unable to return to the Divine Realm to warn their lords .

The Archmage that blew up was only a clone . The moment angels surrounded him, he triggered the clone to explode, incinerating the angels closeby with those violet rays of light . The devious Archmage long since expected the angels to prioritize killing him, so he had concocted this plan before the war began .

“Hmph! Did they really think I am a weak, old fool?” The real Archmage snorted in his hiding place, an ordinary building that was still standing .

As a warmonger, who was happy to partake in violence, the Archmage knew more than anyone else about the survivability of sorcerers . The angels, who had little to no battle experience, had no hope against the experienced Sage-Emperor of all magi; all they could do was become his chew toys!

The Archmage kept switching hiding spots with a short-distance teleportation spell, successfully deceiving the angels each time . At that moment, he was more like an assassin than a sorcerer . In one hour, the old man killed thirty angels, but he appeared dissatisfied .

“Too slow! Too few kills! Can someone cover for me, only for a short while? I want to cast a more powerful spell, but I will need time to prepare . However, these birdmen aren't giving me a chance,” the Archmage said as he walked down an empty alley . “We shouldn't be separated, though . We must find a way to regroup!”

“Not every student is safe,” the Cleric Walker said, bringing bad news . “Five students are trapped in an underground construction site in Strawberry Street . Is there anyone that can help?”

“I'm on it,” the Warrior Walker indifferently replied .

“Gaaaahhhhh! S-speaking of help, does anyone mind giving me a hand here?!” The Engineer Walker bellowed .

The Engineer Walker's main toys had gone down with the rest of the city, and the few toys he had left were ill-equipped to battle aerial targets; thus, since the final battle began, he had suffered greatly . He had long since emptied his storage pouch, but he found nothing that could help him . With no other choice, he was shout at the remaining marionettes, threatening to send them to a recycling plant if they failed to distract the angels while the students escaped .

The Blacksmith Walker quickly said, “Where are those perverts from the Church? My Second Prefect has been injured; I need someone to patch him up, now!”

'Didn't you two claim to be invincible when all we had to fight were humans? Where did that energy go to, now that the going got tough?' The Archmage sneered inwardly . However, the old man reluctantly decided to release one of the Voidwalker's hidden trump cards .  

The reformed dragon knights — all of whom the Archmage had hidden away — charged out of Da Xue's teleportation portal and clashed with the angels in the sky .

“My brave dragonkin, receive my blessings and rule the sky once more!” A small metallic dragon, who was atop Dragon-Mordred, shouted . The small metallic dragon flapped its wings vigorously, and its chest began to glow brightly .

A surge of electricity raced through the sky, filling the dragons with great courage . The dragons boldly charged at the angels and engaged them in a bitter battle . The dragon knights coordinated with the dragon mounts as best as they could .

The blessing dolled out by the Third Walker was simple . It only provided these lesser dragons with the acknowledgment of the Divine Dragon, boosting their morales . This bought the Voidwalker some time, but they remained in a disadvantageous position .

“If things remain like this, we're doomed,” the Soul Armature Practitioner muttered . Every monster he had tamed had already been let loose, yet he continued to suffer losses, unlike when he fought the believers, as angels were powerful and resilient . The Soul Armature Practioner had unleashed his pets to save the Astrologer Walker, and in the end, poor Agumon the lindworm was killed before its Mega Evolution .

The angels attacking the Astrologer Walker fired sword beam after sword beam at the Voidwalker, and he had to roll around pathetically to avoid them . The angels attacked him from afar because they did not wish to fight the Soul Armature Practitioner's pets .

“Do you want to know what the biggest problem is?” The Astrologer Walker shouted after dodging another sword beam . “They have changed the constellation's position again! It's a writing on the wall; they are planning another massive strike! Can any of us that can do something about this?!”

Most of the soldiers dispatched by the Northern Duke were dead, and the students were only deadweight, who the Voidwalkers had to protect . Not only were the angels incredibly powerful, but they also had the advantage in numbers .

“Hmm . It seems this war would not be as difficult to win as I thought,” said Archange Paimon, who did not join the fight . “For some reason, their god has stayed his hand . ”

Baal — who had raised his sword up high, pointing it at the stars — grinned and replied, ” They are at death's door . The moment I'm done rearranging the constellations, which would allow the Holy Light to return to this savage land, they are finished . ”

The Archangels and their lords were sure to gain countless benefits from such a war . Nehemiah's Arbiter's Right would be evenly split between Krachlon and Tylemus, causing their powers and prestige to increase greatly . They would gain the ability to change fate just by uttering words! This power would alleviate them from being underlings of the Highest Lord, as they would become High Lords themselves!

If the Holy Light returned, the divine power of the angels would increase a hundredfold . Furthermore, there were still hundreds of angels on standby in the Divine Realm . In the minds of the angels, their victory was guaranteed!

The Voidwalkers, on the other hand, were desperate for a bit more time; they wished to save their students and reorganize . If they were allowed some time, they could definitely give the angels a run for their money . However, this reprieve was not something the angels were keen to provide .

Attie the Kitty Cat Maid, who was guarding Noirciel, suddenly began to role around . She would stand on all fours, roll around in the dirt, then lick the back of her hands as though they were paws .

At a time where things were dire for the Voidwalkers, Attie was pretending to be a cat!

No one knew if this bizarre display was fueled by fear, or if Attie hoped to, in a strange turn of invents, charm the attacking angels with her roleplay .

The bizarre roleplay caught the attention of some angels, and Attie was soon surrounded by stunned angels . For some strange reason, these angels did not attack . This begged a question: could being 'kawaii~' be weaponized?

When Attie saw the angels, her eyes became filled with tears . She rolled away from them and into a corner, with her back arched like that of a scared cat .

Suddenly, a voice she had been eagerly waiting for resounded in her mind . “The ritual is complete . Begin . ”

“Understood, Lord War God!”

Attie jumped to her feet and pulled out a strange sword hilt, and three different colored blades shot out of the hilt in seconds . Instead of swinging the sword at the surrounding angels, Attie raised it up high up before slamming it downward in a straight line .

Lub-dub .

A frightening tremor-like heartbeat rang out from the tiny Attie . It was as though a leviathan had awakened .
