UNLOCKING YOUR POTENTIAL 11 KEY 10: Live for Something

What is driving you? For you to unlock your potential you must live for something. God has a plan for our lives, God has a reason for our living. He made all things on earth for a purpose, so your life must count. You must live for something and that thing must be greater or bigger than you. God is the one that is greater than all of us; we must therefore live for Him.

Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Rev 3:11

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Matt 10:39

In the book of Esther, there was a lady whose father and mother had died and an uncle, Mordecai who loved God, trained her up. Some uncles nowadays will look at a helpless lady like Esther and have carnal knowledge of her. In the case of Mordecai, he did not, he understood his purpose. Mordecai looked at Esther and he said you may not have a father and mother but I saw greatness in you and he invested in her; he made her to obey him.

There was a vacancy in the government, the king Ahasuerus was a leader of one hundred and eighty provinces and was the richest on earth at that time. The king conquered many other nations, he conquered Israel in their sins, and this lady (Esther) was there as a slave.

A space opened for someone to be queen. Mordecai, moved by God, told Esther that she will win the competition, not for her beauty but for the favour of the Lord. He said, "do not tell them that you are a slave because when they know, no matter your beauty, nobody will accept you". Esther listened to her mentor and finally, she won the competition and got to the palace.

Now there was a man, an Amalekite descendant of Esau who did not love God; he (Haman) rose against the Israelites.

Brethren, the greatest battle against you comes from your family/relations (household wickedness). This Amalekite, a relation to descendants of Jacob wanted to wipe off Israel from the earth. He went to request from the king to make a decree that cannot be changed but there was somebody in the palace, Esther, disguised by God and kept ahead of time.

Mordecai sent to Esther to let her know that a decree has been made to wipe off Israel. He said to her, you are so near the king as a wife in order to change that decree. However, she replied, "for the last thirty days the king had not called me even though I am his wife, if I should go there I am dead based on the law."

Read Mordecai's response back:

For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Esther 4:14

Beloved, you need somebody who will inspire, motivate or encourage you to live for something. Those who are telling you to give or to live holy for God want you to make it.

Esther was challenged and she decided to go all out for the Lord and His people. Then she said:

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Esther 4:16

No one ever say what Esther said and perish. I have looked at the scriptures, those who lived for God and risked their lives in the hands of God and saying 'if I perish, I perish' never perished.

When Jesus, our Lord said he was going to die, Peter called him and rebuked him but the Lord looked at Peter and said; "Get behind me, Satan." It seemed to Peter as if Jesus wanted to commit suicide. No! Jesus is still alive today; he has outlived his enemies (Judas Iscariot, the Pharisees, etc).

No one ever said if I perish, I perish that the Lord will not salvage. The question I am asking you is what are you living for? Another question is; is this thing I am going after really worth it? What is not worth dying for is not worth living for. A man's worth is in the impact that he is making. What impact are you making?

Know this, no one is remembered for what he has done for himself but what he has done for others. God is the first that is worth living for, then, aim to impact the next generation for good.

An ungodly man who amasses wealth, gets honour but goes to hell has not gained anything for the years he lived on earth. Again I say; God is the first that is worth living for.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

Accept the love of God. Once a man gets to hell the love of God does not cover him again because he had rejected God while on earth. Let this drive you also to have passion to preach to people that Jesus is the only way.

Even though Esther was in a position to deliver her people but as long as she focused on roadblocks, thinking she will be killed, the decree was not repealed. Don't focus on impossibilities. As long as we are on earth there will always be hindrances. Focus on God, what looks difficult will go away when you focus on God.

Do not focus on your situations; don't allow it get to your mouth that it is not possible. Be committed to the Lord and to doing exploit. It can work!

Reflection

God is the first that is worth living for, then, aim to impact the next generation for good.
