The Chinese called it 'Guai Shu Shu' and the locals called it Lopes. It was known as Alkaline Dumpling and can be eaten hot or cold. Each triangle is good for one person and the combined force of 72 cooks, they managed to whip out more than 8000 pieces with just a single 500 kg of glutinous rice.

It was a simple preparation as the rice was soaked in the lye for 1 hour, it was then steamed like normal rice would be prepared. After that, the rice would be fashioned into triangles and wrapped with banana leaves and then steamed again for another 15 mins. The process looked tedious but with many hands involved, it made the work seemed light.

When it was time for tea, the whole triangular pieces of the dessert was brought out and distributed among the residents. There were streams of people all holding their own plates to collect a dessert and a dollop of steamed grated coconut with a small ladle of palm sugar. Of course, they have to remove the leaves before consuming, dummy. Hahahaha.

It was a simple dessert and with the start of our dessert at 330 pm, it also signifies the beginning of the festivities that would be hauled nicely into the wees of the morning.

Soon everyone had their desserts and was admiring the unique taste as well as it's a combo of steamed grated coconut and the palm sugar. It was like having a Dango but of different variant.

After the dessert, Izumi and I went back to the business conference room and settled the remaining of the reports that need to be attended and separate those who need His Majesty's opinion as well. The report books were placed neatly on the tables and by then I had almost gone through half of the reports given.
