Chapter 39: A Person that is Quite Tragic

"Ah…Ah Yao, what did I just see?"

After a while, within the dark forest, a voice stuttered out. Three figures emerged from the within the trees, the elegance of Feng Zhi Yao had broken and laid scattered on the ground. With wide eyes, dumbfounded and hapless, he looked at the man laying on the ground.

Mo Xiu Yao looked at the scene in front of him calmly. "Just what you just saw," he said carelessly.   

"This young master couldn't sleep for most of the night and ran out to be with you, afraid that Ye Family's Third Young Miss had an accident! Now, it would seem, accidents are befalling on others." If he was not minding his own image, Feng Zhi Yao wanted to emulate females and scream. What did he just see? Receiving news that someone wanted to cause trouble for Ye Li, he had to climb out from under the blankets of a beauty in the middle of the night. Hurriedly, he rushed over and the result was this, witnessing Ye Li use some method he couldn't even see to fell Mo Jing Li. Mo Jing Li is not only awkward but stupid. But whatever the reason, he was still a talented young man that could be counted on one hand in the capital, right? Coming to stand next to Mo Xiu Yao, he imitated Ye Li and walked around the person on the ground once. Bored, he held his chin and asked: "What should we do now?"

"Throw into the lake over there." Mo Xiu Yao said, his face not changing.

"That's a cold lake; he will die." Feng Zhi Yao, not entirely sincere, advised.

"Also take his clothes off," Mo Xiu Yao casually added.

"Afraid that might not be possible. The method of your future Princess Consort is very clever." Feng Zhi Yao squatted on the ground and studied the knot binding Mo Jing Li. "Ah Yao, do not provoke Ye Family's Third Young Miss in the future. Women can be quite fearsome." After much thought, Feng Zhi Yao could not figure out how to undo the knot. If no came to help, he didn't know what circumstance he would be able to escape. "However, this method is worth learning."

"Ah Jin."

"Yes, my Prince." The young man standing behind Mo Xiu Yao's wheelchair answered. He stepped forward, grabbed the person on the ground, and took him into the woods. A moment later, a thump sounded out. Obviously, someone had just been tossed into the water.

Feng Zhi Yao couldn't help it and stomp. "Ah Yao, you are leading the child astray. What would happen if Mo Jing Li drowns?" Within the capital, the death of a prince, the Emperor's younger brother, would not be a trivial matter.

Mo Xiu Yao quietly looked at his hand on the handrail and coldly said:  "Ah Jin knows the limits."    

Limits? In Ah Jin's mind, is there this kind of thing? Feng Zhi Yao stomped and rushed over to see. Suddenly, silence.

Mo Jing Li laid with his face towards the sky and his body within the water. His chest was exposed as it laid against the side of the shore. Most importantly, the rope that tied him was obviously very long, but a part of it was tied to a tree next to the lake. It can be assured that nothing unexpected would happen and drag Mo Jing Li into the middle of the lake. Sure enough, there are limits.

"Ah Jin, I will escort your Prince back first. You stay here and to keep a lookout. When it brightens, his people should come to rescue. Do not tamper."

Ah Jin frowned. After some hesitation, he eventually nodded. Feng Zhi Yao looked sympathetically at Mo Jing Li. He shook the fan in Mo Xiu Yao's direction and left.

"Ah Yao, I feel very curious about your future Princess Consort." Feng Zhi Yao said with a bright expression as he returned. Mo Xiu Yao still sat motionless without a change, in the dim light he looked quite ordinary. His thoughts obscured.

Mo Xiu Yao looked up and said coldly: "Need to return."

Feng Zhi Yao curiously looked at Mo Xiu Yao, "Letting him go? That easy?"

Don't look at Mo Xiu Yao these past years, good-tempered and gently. His nature had never changed. Understanding his personality, Feng Zhi Yao knew that Mo Xiu Yao was not good person.

The peace in Mo Xiu Yao's eyes had a tint of coldness. "Tomorrow is Jing Li's wedding. If something were to happen to the groom, wouldn't that be disappointing."

"I didn't think that you would want Mo Jing Li and the Ye Family to have any kind of relation." Feng Zhi Yao sighed. "Don't forget, if he marries Ye Ying, the two of you could be…" Brothers-in-law? Would this kind of relationship make people feel very unpleasant?

Mo Xiu Yao hummed gently. His hand used a bit of force and his wheelchair began to roll away from the forest. Feng Zhi Yao blinked, shrugged, and followed. He didn't know what sort of fun things would happen at tomorrow's wedding. It would be best to fight for a good spot to watch the play.    

"What of the person who tied Ye Family's Third Young Miss? How do you plan to take care of him?"

"Capture him, take a hand and foot to give to Mo Jing Li as a wedding gift."

Though the gates leading into the capital had long closed, Ye Li only needed to expend a bit of effort to return to the Minister's Manor before dawn. Ye Li had just returned to her room, Qing Shuang and Qing Yu immediately rushed out to welcome. The worry and concern on their face were swept away like something heavy had just been lifted. Qing Yu acted like usual and brought Ye Li some tea as if the seemingly gentle and elegant young miss had not just lively jumped through the window. This did not cause her any trouble or doubts.

Qing Shuang patted her chest and heaved a relieved sigh. "Young Miss! You have finally returned. Qing Shuang was worried to death."

Ye Li laughed weakly, "There was someone following me. What is there to be anxious about? Isn't that right, Qing Luan?"

Outside the window, a shadow lightly landed. It was Qing Luan. Qing Luan and Qing Yu had both came from the Xu Family.

Qing Luan giggled and said: "Young Miss is amazing. Qing Luan had followed for a quite a ways and no one had noticed. Who would've thought that the Young Miss saw through it."

"In fact, I had not noticed you either. But on the way, I smelled a faintly, very special, familiar scent. The person that caught me… The smell on his body was not light, so I didn't notice you in the beginning." Ye Li replied with a smile.

With a bit of melancholy, Qing Luan lowered her head and secretly decided that she will not use any scent from here on. Actually, the scent that she used was quite faint. An ordinary person wouldn't be able to discover it. But, who made it so that Ye Li's observational skills are much more adept than an ordinary person's?         

"What happened after I came out of the woods?" Ye Li asked as she sat down and drank some of the brewed tea.

Qing Luan imitated Ye Li's movement and flew through the window. She laughed and said: "That person… was thrown into a lake."

"Prince Ding?"

"Young Miss is wise." Qing Luan's mood was very good as she remembered that person being tied to a tree and tossed into the lake. Qing Luan felt that her worries were not in vain. She believed that Eldest Young Master would also like this piece of news very much. "This servant also say someone accompanying Prince Ding. Seems that his relationship with Prince Ding is quite good."

Ye Li furrowed her brows and looked at Qing Luan.

Mo Xiu Yao didn't send someone to stop Qing Luan; he probably understood her. With another clever person, words didn't need to be wasted. Very good.

She threw a piece of jade at Qing Luan. "Give this to Eldest Cousin and ask if he could find the owner of this jade pendant."

Qing Luan barely caught it and gloatingly laughed: "This servant needs to hurry. Prince Ding plans to give the person's hand and foot to Prince Li as a gift. If he doesn't run fast, afraid bad luck will strike him tonight."

"His Lightness Foot Work is not bad. If we make it time, think of ways to lure him in. He might be able to some things for us." If they were too late, then there was no way around it. Qing Shuang nodded in agreement. She did not want others to use the opportunity to ruin her Young Miss's reputation.
