Flash Marriage Chapter 19

         In order to persist and uphold my struggle to the end, secretly I sent a text message to Jiang Li:  There is no need for you to come  tomorrow.  I will not be in my mother's place.

          For the victory of a revolution, occasional lies were also necessary.

          After a while, Jiang Li replied to me:  You really did not learn your language well.  A sentence had exposed your flaw.

          I thought he was probing, so I replied:  Up to you.

          JL:  Tomorrow I still have to visit your mother.

          Me:  My mother doesn't like you.

          JL:  In that case, I have more reason to be there to please her.

          Me:  Hey, really I will not be here. 

          JL:  As long as you are there when I come over, it's alright.

          Me:  Don't force me.

          JL:  I'm too lazy to force you, but if you want my mother-in-law to worry, you can go anywhere you like.

          Jiang Li is always able to pinpoint other people's weak points which is a terrible ability.  After looking at the shocking messages, eventually, I chose to compromise……

         My sisters, when you marry, never marry someone too smart or else you will be played to death…….

          The next day was Saturday, so I slept sweetly into the morning but my mother barged into the room and pulled me up.  With an expression of surprise and resentment, my Mother shook me and shouted at me.  "Girl, Jiang Li is here!"

          I acknowledged her with a light humph and then fell back onto the bed to continue with my sleep.  In this world, there is a kind of weird people like my mother and Jiang Li who did not sleep-in on weekends……..  What is the point in getting up so early!

          I closed my eyes and vaguely heard my mother say…….'you come and deal with her'.  In my heart, I shed silent tears…….

          Jiang Li stood beside my bed and called me.  "Guan Xiao Yan."

          I felt very sleepy and wanted to continue sleeping, so I ignored him.  I gave a humph and held the quilt closer to sleep.

          In a threatening voice tone, Jiang Li said.  "If you still don't get up, then I will strip off your clothes."

          You dare!  This is my territory! 

         Using my sluggish sleepy brain to think whether he would carry out his actions, the result was……naught.  He has to be joking.  Will he dare to molest me in his mother-in-law's house?  When I thought of this, I relaxed and continued sleeping.

          Unexpectedly, Jiang Li pulled my quilt off and then rested one hand on my shoulder.  As if electrocuted, I turned around quickly and swatted his hand away.  Then with wide eyes, I glared at him.  "What are you doing?!"  Why am I still bullied on my own territory?

          Jiang Li folded his arms across his chest and looked down at me with a trace of pride on his face.  He lifted his eyebrows and said.  "What do you think I can do?"

          I picked up a toy bear on the bed and flung it into his face then I shouted fiercely.  "Get out!"

          Jiang Li neatly caught the bear and then sat down on the side of the bed.  He stared at me for a moment and then suddenly he said with great determination.  "Wife, please don't be angry with me, okay?"

           I almost thought I had heard wrongly.  He, he, he…..is there a problem with him?   When he said those words, Jiang Li was expressionless but his voice…....it was obviously meant to be heard by his little male beauties.  It was filled with such gentleness that could suffocate a person.

          Jiang Li lifted his eyebrows and looked at me with the corners of his mouth curved as if he was waiting for something of a joke to happen.  Ah.....I was sure he did not have any good intentions.

          Oh God,.....an anxious rabbit always bite and a tiger that does not roar does not mean I am a 'hello kitty', alright? 

          Anger rose from my heart and evil rose from my gall bladder.  Straightaway, I pushed him onto the bed and straddled him.  I strangled him with my hands and ferociously asked.  "What mysterious things are you planning to do?"

          Jiang Li collapsed onto the bed and allowed me to torture him without any resistance.  I thought he had repented since his strength was less than normal.  After all, killing someone is a crime and so, today I decided to let him keep his dog life. 

          Of course, I was a bit concerned, but…….why is Jiang Li so complacent, now?  Just as I let off my guard, he surprised me with his next action.  First, he grabbed my hands and then held them away from him.  He took two deep breaths and then in a terrified tone, he shouted.  "Help, Xiao Yan is murdering her husband!"  As soon as he finished, he placed my hands back on his neck. 

          I was shocked by the series of actions and was unable to gather my wits.  However, at this moment, the door suddenly opened and my mother stood in the doorway looking at the violent scene in front of her.   

          My mother came in angrily and separated me from Jiang Li.  She gave me a few knocks on my head and fiercely said.  "Why don't you understand, ah…..you make me so mad……"

          I sat on the bed and let my mother trampled over me.  I finally understood……  My mother must have been eavesdropping on our conversation at the door.  According to her character, it was expected that she would be up to it.  Actually, I did not know she was eavesdropping but Jiang Li knew, so he had allowed me to abuse him, then called for help in a timely manner so that I would be caught red-handed by my mother.

          Jiang Li is totally evil!  At this moment, I really wanted to break open his head and pull out his brains to feed the pigs……It is a well-developed evil brain that is too devastating to mankind.

          Jiang Li rubbed his neck and smiled at my mother.  "Mom, don't blame Xiao Yan, she was only joking with me."

          When my mother heard his words, she simply landed a slap on my head and angrily said.  "Joking?  Do you take life as a joke?"

          Endure!  I will endure!

          Jiang Li lifted his hand to stroke the spot on my head where my mother had slapped me, then pulled me into his arms to hug me.  "Mom, take a rest.  It's alright, I will talk to her."

          My mother finally realized that she could not really interfere in matters between a couple and she was also in the wrong for eavesdropping on them.  So she smiled kindly towards Jiang Li and said.  "Then I'll let you settle this with her and you can also strangle her if there is a need."  Then she turned around and left.

          My miserable eyes followed my mother's retreat.  When she closed the door, I shoved Jiang Li away and glared at him. 

          Jiang Li looked at me innocently and whispered.  "Who told you not to cooperate with me?"

          I cooperated with him by giving him a hard kick.  "Get out.  This old woman is going to change her clothes!"

          Jiang Li is considered standing with my mother on a united front.  He is now my mother's own precious son and I am the tortured little daughter-in-law.  Where is justice!

          While my mother was cooking lunch, I took the opportunity to say to her.  "Mom, Jiang Li loves spicy food, the spicier, the better."

          My mother threw me a disdainful glance and said.  "I have already asked him and he told me he could eat anything except spicy food."

          Seeing my deception was unsuccessful, I slipped away quickly.  Anyway, with Jiang Li and my mother together, there would not be any loopholes for me to take advantage of.

          Initially, I had thought that the combination of a mother, daughter, and son-in-law or the combination of mother-in-law, daughter-in-law and son was depressing.  But I was even more depressed in the evening with another addition ……the sister-in-law.

          The so-called sister-in-law was not even blood-related to my mother but at critical moments, she could make people think that she is my mother's biological daughter …….He Zi.

          Daughter-in-law scolded by her mother-in-law......daughter-n-law scorned by her sister...... daughter-in-law trampled by her husband……now, I have every reason to believe that I had taken the wrong script.

          Anyway, at this dinner, everyone was happy and enjoyed their meal.  Two people criticized, one person watched and the other silently shed bloody tears……I finally made a wise decision in my heart…….do not offend Jiang Li.  Even if I did offend him, the two heartless and crazy people must never know.

          After dinner, Jiang Li held my hand and said good-bye to my mother and He Zi.  Then he put me into the car and left.

          Obediently I sat in the car without saying a word.

          Jiang Li looked at me through the rearview mirror and said.  "Are you still angry?"

          I answered in a bland voice.  "Don't speak nonsense.  You can try the experience of being alienated by your loved ones."

          JL:  "It's not as serious as you say.  They are doing this for your own good."

          I shook my head and said weakly.  "Don't be a hypocrite, everything happened as you had planned."

          Jiang Li looked as if I had wronged him.  "I wanted to give you face so I behaved better but unexpectedly you did not appreciate."

          His face did not turn red, he was not even breathless and the thickness of his skin was comparable with my mother's.

          Probably he felt guilty for his deeds, so he agreed.  "Well, next time I will not casually joke with you and talk about separation."

          My mood lifted a little and said.  "Remember, you are the one who said this."

          Jiang Li added.  "Then you are not to starve me in future."

          Me:  "Okay, okay......I know you will not be appeased so easily."

          After a while, Jiang Li said again.  "Where are you working?  If it's on the way, I can pick you up after work."

           Suspiciously I looked at him and said.  "Why are you so kind to me?"

          Jiang Li was straightforward.  "I don't have confidence in you."  Going round in circles, in the end, he was still afraid I would not cook for him.

          I told him the company's name and address.

          Jiang Li was stupefied when he heard my words.  Puzzled, I asked.  "What is the matter?  Does the company belong to you?"

          "No."  He shook his head honestly.  "It sounds familiar."

          XXX Advertising Company's reputation in the industry was good, familiar or not, it did not matter much to me.

          However, soon I learned what he meant by 'familiar'.
