Chapter 602: Fake Death

Finally, Charles saw the Inquisitor's real face and was slightly surprised. He was a young man in the prime of his twenties, blessed with sleek chestnut locks and piercing sapphire eyes, and stood at an approximate height of 175 cm, exuding an aura of confident presence. The Inquisitor donned a regal ensemble adorned with a billowing black cloak embellished with intricate silver embroidery and a gleaming silver breastplate.

Meanwhile, Charles turned his face pale and angrily glared at the Inquisitor.

"You may be stronger than me, but I'm not easily bullied!"

Saying so, he raised his right hand and conjured a reddish ball of fire.

Although it appeared only around the size of a human head, it released a strange fire elemental fluctuation, causing the surrounding temperature to rise.

In a split second, he saw a black-haired young man desperately running in the southern direction and dashed forward.

"You are not going anywhere!" Edwin let out a cold laugh and chased after him. But to his surprise, he noticed that this criminal was faster than him and seemed to know the routes well.

The chase continued like a cat and mouse for the next few minutes. Finally, Charles reached the South Borough with the help of Genesis and quietly moved forward.

As he ventured into Slum Borough, he found himself standing at the entrance of a gloomy alley. The towering structures on either side were leaned precariously. The smell of decay hung in the air, mingling with the acrid tang of garbage and forgotten dreams. Dilapidated wooden crates and discarded debris litter the alley, forming makeshift barriers and hiding places for the destitute souls seeking refuge from the unforgiving world outside.

Charles walked in a zigzag manner and finally halted his footsteps as he found a quiet place.

Even though it was only 9 in the morning, not even a single soul was seen nearby.

Edwin also arrived behind him while breathing heavily and appeared enraged.

"It appears to be true that even a cornered rat will exhibit defiance." His cold voice echoed through the gloomy alley.

On the other hand, Charles slowly turned around and raised his hand to cast a spell.

In a split second, more than twenty balls of fire came out of thin air and flew toward Edwin.

But Edwin calmly evaded the fireballs and shook his head.

"Your fire magic is only to burn wooden huts and woods." He mocked while showing his fingers at the nearby palm tree huts.

"N-No! This is not the end. I still have my trump card." Charles spoke hoarsely and raised his hand again.

"Humph! You are too slow." Before he could cast his trump card spell, Edwin suddenly disappeared from there and appeared behind Charles.

At the same time, he moved his long sword at an incredible speed and directly stabbed him from behind.

Before Charles could open his mouth, a sharp sword covered in crimson blood appeared on his right chest.

"H-Have mercy!" A desperate cry rang out of Charles's mouth as he fell to his knees. His eyes widened, and his breath grew hard.

"Too late," Edwin placed his left leg on Charles's back and pulled his sword back before sheathing it.

On the other hand, Charles opened his mouth to cry, but no words came out.

Like a helpless lamb, he slowly fell on the dirt road and breathed heavily.

Upon seeing him dying, Edwin walked closer to Charles's face and placed his foot on his neck.

"If you hadn't badmouthed His Holiness and even spouted nonsense about my wife, I would've let you see tomorrow."

Upon hearing those words, Charles showed a bitter smile and barely managed to spit out a few words.

"I didn't lie. All the words I said were truth."

"You still haven't learned your lesson, didn't you?" A ruthless expression appeared on Edwin's face as he pressed his leg harder and directly broke his neck.

Charles's body shook violently like a beheaded lamb for the next few seconds and slowly went silent.

"Finally dead, huh?" Edwin spat on his dead body and quietly moved away from it.

At that moment, he noticed the fire spreading toward the surrounding huts and fiercely burning everything in its path.

Not only that, the nearby burning hut suddenly crashed on the corpse and started embracing it in a strange bluish fire.

"It seems I don't need to inform Slum leader Nicole to dispose of his corpse." Edwin shook his head and quietly walked away from there.

Seconds passed, and slowly cries and shouts of women and children came from a distance.

The fire spread all the surrounding areas and caused great chaos in the slums.

Within the burning hut, a small human figure started to take shape and soon walked out of the burning fire.

He was a deep-blue-haired young man in his mid-twenties and appeared bare naked.

"Faking death is more difficult than battling a legend rank powerhouse." He commented casually and took out a casual dress from his space ring.

After changing into a normal linen cloth, he wore a black hooded robe over his dress.

"My next job is to stop the disaster. I should go and take a closer look at the upcoming disaster." As he muttered, he quietly manipulated the surrounding spatial energy through his false fire and teleported from there.

A second later, he appeared thousands of meters above the Holy City and looked up at the clear blue sky.

Simultaneously, he cast [Wings of the Fallen Angel] spell, flapped the wings forcefully, and shot upward.
