'Ughhhh!'

Pain!

John felt a tearing pain in his head. He opened his eyes slowly, but he couldn't see anything.

He only saw some red liquid-like thing clouding his vision and got anxious. A second later, confusion and panic appeared in his mind.

'Was it my blood?' A thought whirled in his mind.

He opened his mouth to speak a word but soon noticed some powder-like substance entered his mouth. He felt muddy sand filled with water entering into his throat and coughed violently.

'Damn it; my body is not responding! Moreover, why do I feel pain from all over the body?... Wait…I remember now... Angele betrayed me! Did I get caught by the 'Ghosts'?' An ominous thought appeared in his mind. He clearly remembered the last moments before he fell unconscious.

'Angele drugged me at the wedding party, and I was forced to kneel in front of Thomas. I hate those 'Ghosts.' Even though I was a member of that criminal organization, I hate them to the core now. F*ck, I'm gonna kill every single one of them one day. But how did they know about my location? How did they know Angele? I didn't leave a clue behind.' John got puzzled inside.

"#@%@&k %@~& *?%' @." As he was thinking deeply, he heard a strange male voice from his back and got perplexed.

'A foreigner?' An uneasy feeling appeared in his mind.

At the same time, he felt someone was placing their foot on his back and grew pale.

'Where the hell am I?' He shouted in his mind while trying to remove the blood droplets that clouded his vision by blinking.

His vision gradually turned clear in a second and showed a muddy ground to his eyes.

At the same time, he saw a strange blue game-like interface appeared in front of his eyes and became dumbfounded.

'What the hell is this?' John's mind went numb for a moment. Before he could check further details about the blue interface, another pain came out of nowhere and assaulted his head.

Countless memories flashed in front of his eyes and soon engraved in the depths of his soul.

As he skimmed through those memories, he became deeply shocked.

'Did I transmigrate into a strange magical world?' He thought in wonder.

But before he could read those memories, someone grabbed his right leg and began to drag his body somewhere.

'Can't you give me some time to organize my thoughts?' He cursed at the enemy in his mind.

He then glanced over the surroundings and noticed that he was in some underground hall-like area. John also saw a few prison cells on the other side of the hall and became puzzled. A few fire torches were already lit on the walls, illuminating the whole underground hall with bright yellow light.

'Am I in some underground dungeon?'

Squinting his eyes, John turned his face and saw that a deep blue-haired lady was laid on his opposite side. She was around 40-years old and was looking at him with teary eyes. Her beautiful oval face was already covered in scarlet blood and looked more pitiful. John also saw a long black sword that pierced her shoulder from her back and pinned her to the ground. She was coughing a mouthful of blood from time to time and was crawling towards John's direction with a painful smile on her face.

As he saw that smile, his lips trembled, and he muttered unconsciously in a strange language.

"Mom!"

Even John got startled by his reaction and thought it must be due to the original owner's remnant soul.

'What happened to her? Why am I in this condition?' He got confused.

A helpless smile emerged as he noticed that the one dragging his body had already put him near to the blue-haired woman.

'I'm feeling dizzy… The enemy must have attacked this boy's head earlier.' He touched his temple in anxiety and felt a sharp pain. As he was thinking deeply, the deep-blue-haired lady glared at the enemy and asked.

"W-Who are you? W-Why are you doing this to us?" Simultaneously, she used all her strength to crawl near John and placed her delicate palm on his mouth.

John noticed that she was secretly trying to pour some liquid into his mouth through a transparent vial and co-operated with her.

A semi-liquid with a bitter taste entered his mouth. After hesitating for a second, he silently gulped down.

The next moment, strange energy entered into every part of his body and began to head wounds at an unimaginable speed. The wound on his temple began to heal quickly and soon disappeared from John's head.

'What the-?' Sensing the changes, John became bewildered.

'Magic!' His eyes were filled with awe and shock!

"You won't be able to change his fate now, Eve Nightwind. He is destined to die." A cold voice appeared above John's head, sending chills down his spine.

"J-James?" A shock appeared on Eve's face. Soon, the shocking face turned into disbelief and then turned into despair.

At the same time, John turned his head and stared at the red-masked man who stood above his head. No, he was now staring at the game-like interface that appeared in front of his eyes!

[Main Quest: Escape from the Red-masked assassin, James.]

[Quest Description: On June 5th of the year 6396 of the Second Arcane Era, you and your mother were kidnapped by a mysterious Red-masked assassin and are now held in an unknown underground prison. Find a way to escape from this masked assassin and then determine the reason for this kidnapping.]

[Sub Quest: Find a way to save your mother.]

[Quest Description: Your mother, Eve Nightwing, is gravely injured and on the verge of death. Find a way to escape from this situation and bring her to the Church of Life to cure her.]

'F*ck! Did I transmigrate into a game world?' He was well aware of the virtual reality games and knew he somehow transmigrated into this strange magical world.

Dismissing the blue game-like interface, he looked at the red-masked James to find clues.

James wore a black butler suit and appeared to be holding an old-fashioned golden dagger. He appeared to be around 40 years old and had long grey hair. He didn't respond to Eve's question; instead, he walked near John and gave a hard kick on his chest.

"W-Wait! I beg you! Please don't kill my son, James." Eve grabbed James's leg and begged while crying pathetically.

At the same time, John let out a painful moan and fell.

'Damn it; this body is too weak! I couldn't even be able to dodge his kick.' He grunted and then realized something.

'Game? Can I able to open my status?' Hope appeared in his mind.

'Stats window!' He said in his mind. A second later, the same game-like interface appeared in front of his eyes.

'F*ck this shit! How the hell I can escape with no class?' He was stupefied. James grabbed his hair before he could think further and smacked his face on the concrete floor. Scarlet blood painted the floor, and the pain clouded his thinking ability.

'No! I can't die like this.' He looked up at the Red masked Assassin, James, and then noticed something was off. Instead of attacking him further, James stood there like a frozen statue and showed a twisted expression on his face.

'What happened?' John got startled a bit and soon turned his attention towards his current body's mother, Eve.

Instead of begging, she was biting James' leg like a maniac!

Tears and blood were flowing out of her delicate face, drenching her body in red color.

"Eve, I changed my mind now," James said with a twisted face and grabbed Eve's long deep-blue hair. He then bends down a bit and directly thrust the old-fashioned golden dagger into her throat.

But to his astonishment, he saw a red transparent shield appeared around her body and blocked his dagger.

At the same time, Eve twisted her body at a strange angle and pulled out the black sword without even flinching. She then pointed that sword towards his direction and lunged at his chest with full force.

"Y-You!" James was beyond shocked by her action and took a step back. But John already used that opportunity to stand up and kicked him from behind. As a former criminal, he knew how to adapt himself to dangerous situations and acted calmly.

The black sword penetrated James' body with a stabbing sound and wounded him heavily.

Even Eve got startled by her son's action and smiled.

"Charles, escape from here." She said hurriedly and was about to poke her fingers into James' eyes.

But James caught her hand and pushed her away.

He then glared hatefully at her and removed the black sword from his body.

"Eve, do you think you can protect your son from the 'True Lords'? Even if you somehow manage to kill me here, they will send another member to kill him. You can't escape from the True Lords' eyes." He said chillingly.

Upon hearing those words, a twisted smile crept on Eve's face.

"I know. But do you think I care about those things? It's a mother's job to protect her children, James. That's why I chose a suitable Job." She muttered calmly and snapped her fingers.

The next instant, James saw that Eve and her son disappeared from the underground hall and became stupefied!

"Spatial Mage!" James cried out in surprise and quickly sprinted towards the exit. He didn't even check the surroundings and moved towards the outside hurriedly.

After a few seconds, the underground hall began to shimmer a little and soon revealed two humans.

Eve stood in the same place like before and started falling backward.

Meanwhile, John, aka Charles, already went near her and caught her with both hands. He then placed her on his shoulder and started walking towards the exit while groaning.

'That was a close call. It must be an illusion-type Ability. But that fool got tricked by her easily. But who is she anyway? Why are these evil villains after her son? Moreover, who are those 'True lords'? Are they belong to some criminal organizations?... Damn it! First, I need to know more about my current situation. How the hell did I end up in this magical world?' He grumbled inwardly and then walked out of the gloomy underground hall through the exit gate.
