Desharow Merman Chapter 24

Chapter 24

When my blurry sights become clear, the glass ceiling above my head came into view, followed by Sakarol's enlarged face and the eyes that was gazing questionably at me behind a pair of golden glasses.

"Hey Mr. Desharow, have you been doing will?"

"I…" I consciously came to realize that I was still in the underwater laboratory, and used my numb arm to prop myself up. Immediately my eyes irresistibly set on the large, circular water reservoir not far behind Sakarol. Agares was staring perpetually at me behind the glass wall with a grin plastered on his face.

My entire body felt numb and powerless, unable to move a single inch. Two days of terrible trauma had flooded  into my brains. Nothing but rushing sound of buzzing were heard in my brain, my entire body trembled a couple time, nearly causing me to fall from the bed.

Sakarol grabbed my arm at once, "Hey, Mr. Desharow, are you okay? Do you want me to call in a doctor? Your face is very pale and it seems like your blood sugar is very low. Could it be that you didn't eat?

"No, don't call for a doctor! I indeed did not eat a lot, but that's because …because I've been so absorbed in my research." I held my throbbing forehead as I wiped away the cold sweat that was on my face. I randomly said some nonsense words, feeling my own cheek heating up from this embarrassing lie.

My change in expression must have been obvious to tell that I didn't dare to look up at Sakarol. Feeling flustered, I wanna stand up, but all of a sudden I saw Sakarol crying out and turning her head to the side, making me halt my action. She pointed at me, "Mr. Desharow, you… are not wearing any clothes."

  "Ah, ah, I'm extremely sorry!"

I suddenly realized that I was naked with half of the quilt already slipped down to my abdomen. The red mark left by the infringement was clear as day in between my legs and I could easily see them under my own eyelashes! I should be glad that Sakarol had looked away!

——The books and research instruments were scattered on the ground, and a few feet away was the research coat that I abandoned full of the merman's bodily fluids!

I haven't destroyed the “evidence” yet, because I didn't expect Sakarol to come back so soon when, especially during the moment where I lack any awareness!

I stared at the group of things without saying a word, but my heart was raging with storm, my face looking pale and ashen.

I don't know if she noticed them yet.

My brain was constantly echoing this sentence like it was some spell. With my hands slightly shaking, I didn't respond or even notice that Sakarol had been calling out to me several times already. I didn't come back to my senses until she came in front of me.

”Oh god, why are you more embarrassed than me? It seems that, you Mr. Desharow is indeed a charming scholarly student. No wonder Rhine values you so much."

Sakarol patted me on my shoulder, gave me teasing wink before chuckling out loud. I forced out a couple fake, hollow laughter, while my heart was burning with extreme embarrassment and nervousness. My nerves tightened together the moment Sakarol turned to to in Agares direction.

To my surprise, Sakarol's face was full of admiration" However, I do have to marvel at your incredible communication skills. That merman already look unbelievably docile compared to two days ago. compared with two days ago. How do you let him obediently stay here? If you must know, his aggressive behavior from two days ago practically could have smash this reinforced glass open!

"No, no, I'm flattered, this credit shouldn't be mine!" I immediately lifted my head, hurridly wave my end in dismissal, and responded with incoherent words. Both my cheek flare up in red which brought back the feeling of shame and insincerity. I know my complexion must be as red as when one was suffering from a fever, and pores all over my body appear to violently burst open with sweat.

But my eyes couldn't help but slide over to look at Agares. His eyelids were drooping downwards as he looked at Sakarol in a calm yet arrogant way, even giving her a gentle nod of his head in acknowledgement. I didn't see the ferocious and predatory expression he had for me at all. Only the corner of his mouth hooked up when he glanced up at me; he is undoubtedly pleased with himself of his own schemes and intrigues.

False! It's a sinister and vulgar beast! A stomach full of nothing but filthy water[1]!

[1]( evil intentions)

I curled my hand into a fist as I shouted angrily with shame in my heart. I almost wanted to rush over there and smash the glass along with Desharow to pieces at the same time.

Sakarol, at this moment, not overlooking anything, continued to inquire, "But seriously, look at the mess on the ground. I thought there was a fight that went on here. Can you tell me what happened?”

I can't force myself to keep calm any more. I flew towards the pile of things that are basically crime evidence as far as I'm concerned, and hastily tidy up a few things before snatching up the dirtied clothing from the ground and fled to the door of the third floor.

"Mr. Desharow, where are you thinking of going?" Sakarol voice sounded lower than usual. I don't know if this was just my misperception, but her tone sounded as if she is interrogating.

My heart quickened, cold sweat burst from my back, even the action of pushing open the glass door was sluggish. I quickly weave together an excuse in my mind, “…..Dr. Sakaral, because of some family problems, I have to go back to Moscow immediately. I already reserved a flight ticket online, I have to leave tonight. “

I carelessly made something up because I don't want to stay here for another minute, I just want to get out of here as soon as possible. When I thought of the dream just now, my scalp begin to tingle as adrenaline shot up in me. The fear was clearly still prevail in my mind despite the fact that this was just ridiculous dream, and furthermore, Agares's evolution to humans completely go against the studies of chemistry.

Just as I took my first step down the stairs, I heard Sakarol raised her voice behind me, her sharp vocal penetrating into my eardrum, "Desharow, the baccalaureate, we need you. Following the course of our planned journey, I was hoping you could set off with our research ship to sea while continuing your study of the merfolk project on board. Of course, you have the right to choose to go back to Moscow if… you want to see the video of yourself on YouTube."

Suddenly, as if I had been beaten up violently, my ears began to sound with high pitched ringing. My brain was dizzy. Subconsciously, I grabbed the handrail beside the steps to support myself which help stop myself from falling down the stairs.

Even after a couple minutes had passed, I still wasn't able to comprehend what I heard. I honestly unable to believe what Sakarol said. I just stood there, frozen, like a person in a daze.

  — That surveillance camera had captured everything, and all my unfortunate encounters between these two days were all documented by Sakarol, and her being a scholar and a skilled general with a prestige identity and fame actually would use this as a bargaining chip in such a despicable way to threaten me,

No… No, how can this be? How could Sakarol do this, as a person sent by the government for this research?!

  Unless… unless they never were.

Suddenly I remembered Rhine's words before fainting. His warning was so obvious yet I didn't notice it at that time. All of this was…

This was planned! Everything was intentional!

There have been many strange signs that I should have taken notice before! It's because I'm too naive, too stupid! My mind slowly came out of the shock and confusion, and my eyes immediately dampened so much so that I didn't dare to turn around and face Sakarol because I felt like a little naked red creature completely being violated humiliated by others.

My lips trembled allowing only a couple words to escape from my mouth, "Who… are… you people? What… are your true intention? What place are you guys set out to go in this planned journey?"

"You will become aware of it soon, Mr. Desharow,  because you are our most essential researcher ah."

Sakarol deliberately emphasized the last words, her tone was light and unhurried, as if she was stating something insignificant. However, every word seemed to be scraping the bones in my inner ear, making my brain shake in pain, even my cheeks felt boiling hot as if it had been slapped.

My fingers clung to the handrail of the stairway, the blue tendons on the back of my hands are protruding out, ready to burst. All my blood rushed to my brain, I imagined killing Sakarol secretly right here right now, but at once, I became shocked and scared by my own thoughts, how could I have such an inhumane urge!

It turns out that humans can all be a cruel and scary creature when greatly stimulated.

However,  an urge was only an urge, I can't do it and will never do it.

"Scoundrels….you people….I'm leaving here, I'll be leaving tonight. I absolutely will not be threatened by you disgusting people!

A thunderous roar exploded from my throat, before I flew down the stairs away from the third floor. Before I could rush out the door, behind me came Sakarol's  gentle yet haunting response, "Go ahead and leave, Mr. Desharow. You need time to comprehend and accept everything, but I do believe you will return to us quickly. You are a smart man."
