Chapter 36:

The hypnosis magic was broken. There was no string attached to Rennes' body anymore. Right now, he didn't have any intention to escape or fight back. He was just desperately sitting on the ground not saying a word.

He knew the powers of both sides really well. Let alone, Gerrard was in front of him. Even if Gerrard was not here, he knew that he alone couldn't defeat the shaman-------that was when he was in his best condition.

At this moment, he was severely wounded. Both his shoulders were dislocated. If it weren't for the medicine, he would have been in excruciating pain. How could he manage to fight back?

As things had gone this far, he waited to take orders and couldn't think of any other way.

"Rennes, why did you plot against us?" Gerrard growled. His growl resonated in the forest. It was like a strong wind rising up.

"I am going to die anyway. I did this to please the Dark Moon (the alias of the God of Conspiracy) and get the qualifications to get into the God Kingdom. Therefore, I have plotted in the hope that through cheating all of you, I can please Highness." Rennes said very straightforwardly, "But I have failed and Highness has abandoned me. Now, I am doomed. To me, life no longer has any meaning. Hell's gates have already opened for me. It is just a matter of time before I'm taken there."

When hearing this, the thieves' faces changed colors; one by one turned to glare at him. If it weren't for Gerrard's demeanor, these bandits would have surged at once and immediately slaughtered this old man, turning him into a corpse by their blades.

Due to the fact that both the Thief God and the God of Conspiracy took "Illusion" as their priesthood, which resulted in overlapping God Positions, their relationship was incredibly tense. They could be seen as mortal enemies. To those bandits who worshiped the Thief God, Rennes who worshiped the God of Conspiracy, was not only an enemy, but also a despicable traitor.

Rennes didn't care about those eyes that were boiling with the intent to kill. There was no way out for him right now. Looking left and right all he could see was death. Why would he be scared of those things?

"What?!" Rennes' eyes lit up. He hurriedly turned to the transparent jellyfish in the air. "But why didn't Highness  answer my prayer?"

"Because I have blocked it." Sui Xiong chuckled, then continued, "The appointed messenger was also blocked by me. Although the messenger called "Four faces monster", under the command of the God of Conspiracy, is very odd, he unexpectedly tastes good. He tastes surprisingly refreshing and delicious; very memorable!"

Rennes's body violently shook. Just then, he realized Sui Xiong's identity. His face immediately turned white. He pathetically fell down to the ground and couldn't say a word.

Seeing how desperate, helpless, and sorrowful his appearancewas, Sui Xiong couldn't help but somehow feel disappointed. The one Sui Xiong wanted to punish was the cunning bandit leader, not the fellow whose breath was more disgusting than the dead ones' in front of Sui Xiong right now.

The small, transparent jellyfish twirled around Rennes several times, meticulously examining him. In a flash, a change suddenly came to Sui Xiong's heart. He had an idea.

"You are willing to take any punishment that I decide, so don't blame me for being harsh on you!" He laughed coldly. His spirit power fluctuated inside the transparent jellyfish body then turned into a big hand. Inside the hand, there was a dazzling golden word "Ten thousand", which charged toward Rennes' forehead to slam him down.

"The sea of bitterness has no bounds, turn your head to see the shore!"

Following his shout, Sui Xiong silently watched all kinds of human visualization about sincerity, kindness and beauty, all kinds of prosperous and developing scenes, all kinds of ceaseless fighting scenes, and numerous scenes of elated and excited scenes... Countless thoughts converged into a streak of golden light, which relied on the power of that strike to hit Rennes's forehead, immediately crushing his spirit and putting him inside those scenes.

Luckily, they had brought a lot of necessities for the treasure hunt this time. There was clean clothes for them to change. After changing, Satan used his magic to create a wind to blow away the stinky smell. Everyone's nose, in the end, was no longer poisoned.

It was also strange to say so. Not too long after that, Rennes, who was shrieking moments ago, finally calmed himself down. His eyes gazed at the gloomy sky. Who knew what he was thinking inside?  He just stared at the sky in a daze.

"Rennes, have you woken up?" Sui Xiong, once again turned into the jellyfish, loudly asked.

Rennes was awakened by this loud shout and sat up once again. He silenced for a while andthen suddenly burst out crying.

He cried his lungs out; cried until his liver and guts were cut to pieces; cried like there was no way out; cried until his tears ran dry.... No, this is not right, this style is not right--------Sui Xiong silently thought.

Rennes had been crying for half a day, then finally stopped. Due to the wound on his shoulders, he couldn't lift his hand to wipe his face. Dust and tears blended with each other, into black and white colors. He appeared to be struggling.

But his eyes were now clear. Those were the kinds of eyes that even the subordinates who had followed many years had never seen before. His eyes were calm, gentle, like a clear lake without the least bit of shadow, which made people both want to get closer and be cautious.

"Sincerely, thank you Highness for awakening me. Right now I don't fear anything." Rennes calmly said. "I've committed countless sins in my life. I should have gone to Hell to pay for my sins. Even if I take every kind of suffering and punishment in Hell, it would be nothing compared to the pain that I have caused for others."

"It's already too late to realize all of that when you are about to die, but it is still better than dying without repenting." He exerted himself to stand up and look at his subordinates; his face full of guilt.

"These past few years, I have done many bad things to all of you. I have made use of all of you to do bad things and made you go through countless hardships, blocking your way to develop.... I am sincerely sorry to all of you. But I do not dare to ask for forgiveness either."

After saying this, he sighed deeply and faced the sky.

"When I was young, I usually climbed to the roof, lied down and looked up to the sky. At that time, due to my illusion, I didn't know what a sky looked like. According to the myth, Heaven is in the sky. Good people will be able to get there where the group of Virtuous Gods who have created this beautiful country live... What on earth does Heaven look like? I really want to see..."

His voice gradually lowered as his body collapsed to the ground. There weren't any breaths left.

He died.

In Sui Xiong's eyes, when Rennes' body broke off its vitality, a transparent and aged silhouette flowed out of his body. This silhouette looked at its body, shook its head, and sighed. Right at this moment, an invisible transparent light, which normal eyes couldn't see, descended from the sky and fell into Rennes' spirit.

Inside the white light, there was a man wearing an ash-gray cloak. On his forehead was a silver loop. He was laughing out loud while holding a pipe, appearing in front of the silhouette then grabbing tightly onto Rennes' shoulders.

"The Lord of Repentance said no matter how many sins one had committed, as long as he sincerely repented, he would be saved." The old man told Rennes, "You shouldn't go to Hell. You should wholeheartedly change your repentance into action. Go help those in need."

Rennes was in a daze. It took him a while to recover his composure. He skeptically asked, "You.... You are the messenger of the Lord of Repentance? I have never worshiped that God..."

"Highness, I have never used one's religion to decide whether or not to send one to the God Kingdom. Only one who could save themselves, save other's spirits qualifies to go the Relief Valley. You have saved this man at the end of his life. Therefore, I come here personally to greet you." The old man gently said, "Follow me. You still have a long way ahead."

Rennes was both surprised and happy. He couldn't hold back his tears. He paid a deep obeisance to Sui Xiong, then followed the old man, riding the transparent light flying up to the sky.

Sui Xiong stared attentively at his back as he walked away. His expression was like "today is the example of yesterday's death becoming today's life." He was moved suddenly.

The floating giant jellyfish turned its head toward the female in simple clothes and slightly bowed, paying his courtesy.

"Hello, God of Salvation."

"Hello, kind-hearted new God." This girl was about twenty-five or twenty-six. Her appearance was not outstanding, but gentle and friendly. Her eyes revealed a soft and calm light. This was the incarnation of the God of Salvation. This God could sense the remorse of the spirit who had used exotic schemes and committed countless sins at the end of its life. "I am sorry. I don't know nothing about God right now." Sui Xiong said.

The gentle Goddess waved her hand as her shadow slowly faded. "It doesn't matter. Your time and mine don't have much significance. I have been waiting a long time. Now, I am very satisfied as I have known my waiting time has not gone to waste."

After seeing the God of Salvation leaving, Sui Xiong carefully comprehended that God Power and began to digest the large amount of information carved into his heart. Sui Xiong vaguely figured out something. His gloomy and messy road ahead eventually had gotten a little bit of sunshine.
