Chapter 7: The heart is cold

The two looked at each other with familiarity.

Siren looked at him with confusion.

Chase looked at him with rage.

His fists tightened as Chase started stomping toward Siren with a sense of malice.

Without warning, Chase charged at Siren with rage burning in his eyes. He threw a fast left hook that hit Siren directly in his eye.

The people around them all started pulling out their phones and began chattering away.

‘How dare you show your face again! You ruined my life with that match, so I'm going ruin your life now!” He shouted as small light orbs began spawning around him.

The orbs shined brightly as they flared repeatedly, like a disco ball.

Chase stuck his hand out, as the beams of light slowly honed in on Siren.

“Finally! I can end the thorn in my life once and for all” Chase stopped for a moment.

He froze in place with a look of shock.

His eyes had little light in them as he glanced down at Siren.

“What. . . did you do?” He said in a faint voice.

Chase suddenly collapsed onto the ground as the people around them suddenly started screaming, as they dashed towards the door in a disorderly fashion.

Siren looked down at Chase as black blood was bleeding from his nostrils.

He moved closer towards Chase’s unconscious body as he placed his hand over his head, carefully pushing his nose upward, and spreading his nostrils wide.

Siren’s Void eyes were already activated, so he stuck his other hand out and just as he did that, a small black blob shot out of his nose and scattered into the air.

Siren backed away quickly as he scurried along while grabbing onto Charlotte in the process and dragging her along the floor.

Siren bolted out the door as people began surrounding outside trying to get past him, so he shoved past them hastefully and ran in a different direction.

He could feel his heart beating, similar to a drum beating loudly in his ears.

The wind rushes in his face head thomping each time he blinks.

He doesn’t want to deal with this again, no he can’t deal with this again.

Siren suddenly stopped, as he slid some, leaving rubble buried over Siren’s feet. His eyes dilated and his breathing became heavy, Siren droppeCharlottete without a second thought as he walked towards his home.

“What the hell Si? What did you do back there? Charlotte said while standing up.

`````````` `
Siren didn’t say a word as he pulled out his keys and opened his door.
He walked quickly into the house, and Charlotte was quick to follow.
When she got in there Siren was already in the kitchen, as he rambled around in the refrigerator.
He grabbed some ham, cheese, and butter and slammed it onto the counter, with a distraught look on his face.
He was ignoring her.
Charlotte paused for a moment, before looking down the hallway and noticing an eyeball peaking between the door.
She let Siren do his own thing as she went to investigate. She walked down the hallway and noticed the plethora of photos taken about a decade ago.
It was the day they went on a trip to Rockden, a town famous for its beaches and chicken breast. It was also the last time they all smiled again together as a family. After a couple of months Sam, her husband, was stated to be missing.
Even after death, Charlotte wishes to be in his arms one last time. She looked closer at the photo of her family together and came to a shocking revelation.
Siren looks almost identical to his father, minus the darker skin color. The same markings under their eyes, the cold blank expression, and the way their posture adjusts. You really couldn’t tell the difference. Charlotte sighed as she frowned and walked up to the door.
The door creaked open as Charlotte carefully swung the door open.
Within the dark and gloomy room was a decently tall child sitting there trying to take a rope around her neck.
The girl locked eyes with Charlotte, as fear could be seen filling up the pupils of her eyes. Her face held a tense expression, and her entire body began rattling repeatedly
She had a black mark on her eye, as if she had been attacked, her hands constantly shaking, and her horrible posture stood out the most.
Looking closer, the girl's skin was pale, and her eyes were a vibrant violet color. It became obvious this wasn’t someone related to Siren in any possible way.
This was a vampire, but what would they be doing here in his home?
“Yo kid. . . What are you doing in my home?” Charlotte said as she leaned in closer.
The kid sat there and didn’t say a word as she was visibly off her rockers.
Her panting became loud enough to hear, and she took a defensive stance, ready to attack at any sudden movement.
Charlotte noticed this and decided to take a more deceptive approach. She loosened up her posture and slowly leaned closer with a calm manner.
“Its okay kid. Im not going to hurt you. . . Im just trying to figure out what you're doing in my home.” She said as she managed to get decently closer.
The child’s eyes began watering as she began crying within Charlotte’s arms.
And that’s all it took, to understand someone’s heart.
