Chapter 6: Animosity

10/19/5294 7:30 P.M

The night sky glimmered brightly as the street lights turned out.

Siren stood next to a door as he covered his eyes. As people passed him, they looked at him with the look of disgust.

Rich people. Siren hates rich people. They are always looking down on everyone else simply because they have more money than others.

The way they live with themselves, as they succumb to greed is beyond him.

Siren sighed as he checked the time, and noticed that it was a quarter past ten.

She was late.

He grabbed his tie and loosened it as he was about to leave before something touched his upper back. The texture was smooth but a hand. It caressed his back as he quickly turned around to see who was doing it.

Once he turned around. It was revealed to only be Charlotte. Siren raised his eyebrow in confusion.

She wasn’t hiding her horns or her scars.

He knew that she wasn’t one for caring about others' opinions, but he wasn’t expecting her to care this little.

Maybe it is because Siren didn’t go out with Charlotte when he was younger.

Now that he was older, he realized that he never spent much time with his mother.

It's probably because Siren was too busy under his dad to realize it.

He then noticed what Charlotte was wearing. Her dress was made of wool as the silky black color, matched her devilish appearance.

“I know I look stylish but stayin' silent ain’t good for you. Anyways, your tie is far too loose.” She said while pulling Siren’s tie and straightening it out before letting go.

Siren scoffed as he walked right behind Charlotte, as they entered a wave of various aromas punched them both in the face.

The bold scent of a rich broth hit them right in their noses, leaving them gasping for air due to the intensity of the scent.

The dim lighting from the chandelier’s crystal-like appearance made the whole room glimmer like a ballroom.

They began walking around Siren could feel the gaze of each person passing by, the feeling of shame washed over him.

He hated this feeling.

They found a seat in the back of the restaurant which had a red padding around the seats.

The two sat down across from each other, looking at each other with a clear sense of awkwardness in the air.

The waiter stood there as they had their hand out in an awkward way, waiting for someone to take the menu out of their hand.

Siren was the first to notice this and grabbed both menus and handed them to Charlotte, as the waiter walked off.

‘Thank you. . . So SIren, tell me how have you been? I’ve been gone for a couple of years and wanna catch up owhat'sts been going on.” She said as she began looking through the menu.

Siren looked out of the window for a moment as he let out a faint sigh.

Siren reached into his pocket as he partially lifted out a red scarf.

Charlotte’s face was still for a moment until it clicked in.

That was Celeste’s scarf.

“While you were busy being dead, she was found dead in a subway with scratch marks on her neck”

Charlotte stood there with a cold look on her face, it was a look slightly unfamiliar to Siren yet he could understand the feeling of the look.

The look of fear.

Her once fiery eyes, now dimed to a somber esk look of a barely lit fireplace. Her face looked more tightened, and her eyebrows frowned up.

Siren looked deep into Charlotte’s eyes, as she was locked into the scarf.

“Are you sad about this? I didn’t think you could feel sa-” Siren was immediately interrupted by Charlotte snatching him up by the tie.

“DON’T YOU FUCKING EVER SAY THAT AGAIN.” She yelled as Charlotte suddenly noticed people were looking at her. “. . . Don’t say that again. . . please” She said with a partially cracking voice.

Siren sat there in shock.

He’s never seen his mother like this before. She seemed genuinely upset. Although his mother didn’t deserve it, far from it, he still couldn’t help but stick his hand out.

“I... I'm sorry Mom. . . . I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant that you are normally so tough that I didn’t expect you to cry like this. . . “ Siren lifted his hand and covered Charlotte’s hand. “It's ok. I miss her too.” He said as tears flowed down Charlotte’s face.

Siren could feel Charlotte shaking, rapidly as she put her head down.

“Why? Why can't I do anything right?” She muttered as she let go of his tie.

There was a loud silence in the air, as it was obvious that the people around them were listening to their conversation.

Siren stood up helped his crying mother up, as they began walking out of the restuarnt.

The looks that Siren noticed had changed.

Instead of beinbg filled with disgust, they were enlightend with intruigement.

Suddenly, Charlotte fell to the ground as Siren turned his head and noticed a man who had tripped her.

He was a vampire that wore a tacky suit, with the tie not even folded correctly.

His eyes filled with bags, and eye crumbs, and his skin was paler than most.

Thats when it clicked who this was.

It was Chase from high school
