Chapter 7: The Drums of War

(Occurring right around Chapter:6)

The trees rustled and the raindrops slammed into the ground. The air whistled with the soft marshmallow clouds. The animals live peacefully as they live by their natural animal instincts, but the distant yet ever close sound of rustling and hopping was quick to scare them away as they fled away in panic. The sound of ice skating erupts into the forest as Ana bursted through the ever growing trees as a path of ice forms in front of her with her arms. The feeling of panic was catching up to her body. Her heart began to feel sharp and her body felt tired. The vision around began to feel inconsistent as she began to wobble. The medicine. She hadn’t taken her medicine in time and the effects are catching up to her. Suddenly ice stopped emerging from her hands as she flung into a nearby tree. The loud thud of her body slamming against the walls made the entire tree quiver in shock.

Ana stood herself up grunting and holding the spot where her heart would be. Every few seconds a loud thump from her heart was the equivalent of being poked with the sharp tip of a freshly sharpened pencil. The pain was starting to sink into her mind as it disappeared, rotting her brain away as she lay there with tears on the brink of falling on the cliff of the eyelash on her eye. She closed her sorrowful eyes as she sat there visibly exhausted. Ana began breathing ever slowly like a baby adapting to breathing on its own for the first time. She just wanted to go home. The home she thought she had finally made, but it turns out just to be another bump on the road for her already tiresome life.

Ana didn’t want to disappear. She only wanted the happiness she saw others have, but it became clear that happiness had no intention of ever coming to her in the first place. Just mindlessly chasing a path that never existed. She suddenly started laughing as tears rolled down her eyes. That laughter turned into crying as she laid against the oak tree scratched up, hungry, and in need of medication. She leaned up as she gripped a nearby tree branch that looked like it could support her weight. Fatigue rushed through her body as she slowly limped toward the east. The trees were massive and the roots were nonlinear as Ana attempted to step over the above rooted roots. A thought came to Ana’s mind just as the mind hit her face with a consoling and refreshing breeze.

What is the true point of living? Is it to fulfill someone’s will, or is it to live a life just to live one? Even then, what does it mean to live a life without purpose? How do you come to terms with yourself without understanding any emotion? How do you understand emotion then? What cataclysm helps you understand what your feelings are? How sure can you be that you're feeling anything at all? Ana could only think as she pondered on her emotional state. She couldn’t understand anything anymore as the sudden change of air grew sharply cold. Ana had reached the center of the forest. The air was vastly different from anywhere else as the leaves above her changed to blue compared to the ones behind her. The feeling of the blue area felt somber as the air changed to a fall breeze. Ana was astonished by the beautiful blue area that glismered over the sunflowers as the sight .

In the center of the many sunflowers was a wonderful sight. There stood a World Tree. The tree that gifted most of the world with their magic, and gave life to those who aren’t human. Such a wonderful sight blessed her eyes, as the tree’s warm glow felt as if most of her pain could just fly away like the sun. On the tree’s branches were small fruits that like similar to apple but was purple instead. Ana saw that a few were on the ground and spectated as it glowed under the sun. Being exhausted and famished she took a bite out of the apple. The apple tasted sweet as if it were candy taken form. Ana’s body felt rejuvenated as her body glowed faintly as a gust of wind wrapped around her.

Suddenly a bike flew right towards her as the biker suddenly stopped right in its tracks. The biker threw their helmet at Ana as the threw their braided hair back. It was a seemingly young black woman with hair braided into one ponytail, with skin as vibrant as the sun, and eyes as black as the night. She seemed vastly taller than the average height for a woman, as she looked weirdly joyful with her smile radiating casually.

“Good afternoon Ms, Thornheart. I’ve come to turn you in. Let's try to make this as simple as possible please.” Woman said in an almost outgoing tone as she leaned back onto her motorcycle waiting for a response. Ana paused for a moment as she took in the echoing words of this strange woman as she turned back around towards the tree. She placed her hand on it as she placed her hand onto it. The tree began to glow vibrantly as the branches shook wildly in response. “Tell me something. What gives you the right to take me on? What gives you the authority to barge into my life and ruin it more than others already have? Tell me! What gives you the urge to hurt me more than this hurtful world already has?” Ana shouted from the top of her lungs as her azul eyes flared at the woman.

The woman without a care about Ana’s speech stood up, and stared right back at her. “For your information, I don’t give a damn about whatever weird issues you have going on right here, but I’m War and I came here to take your very smelly ass to the Governor!” she shouted as she stuck her middle finger directly into the sky.
Ana began gritting at her teeth as veins pulsated wildly across her head as she thrusted her arm and ice shards would blast from the palm of her hands. War with a tiresome expression slapped them away as she placed her hands onto her motorcycle as it suddenly began morphing and twisted into a silver revolver that floated in the air. The gun fired, but Ana simply put up an ice wall which effortlessly stopped the bullet. War stood there for a moment and looked up at the revolver with an idea popping up in her head. The gun lowered as she touched it again and as it did before, began morphing into something new. This time it morphed into a laser rifle that had a laser pointer on the end of it. The gun fired and blasted straight through the ice wall as it constantly began firing.

Ana leaped into the air as she launched a wave of ice shurikens near War. She suddenly began hopping and twirling around carefully yet still playfully dodged the shurikens, and she retaliated by shooting more bullets into the air as one hits Ana in the shoulder. Ana then uses her ice to form a rail as she grinds on it while still launching shurikens. “For a person whose name is war your aim is pretty garbage!” She shouted as she went into the forest as her laughter echoed in the distance. War face started frowning as this upcoming game was starting to annoy her. She gripped onto a nearby tree, as it crumbled and formed into a motorcycle.

She leaped onto it and blitzed into the forest, as the laser rifle pursued behind her.

The hunt was on.
