Chapter 4: A false ray of hope

Akio was filled with joy upon discovering another human in the dystopian and a girl no less, If he just wasn't falling to his death from the Tokyo tower."Ah fuck me," he said before hitting the group and an instant death.

He was once again in a dark void and saw a light, he reached for it and woke up again." Ahhhh!" Akio screamed as if waking from a bad dream,"I'm actually still alive."

"I guess that system thing was not actually lying then," he thought to himself,"but where am I?"

He realised he was in a ran down apartment but he did not know who brought him there but he saw Demon destroyer was beside him.

"Was it that girl who brought me here,"He wondered,"an actual human in this world."

"I have to find her," he said. He put on his cloak and carried his blade, coincidentally he bummed into her as he opened the door. "It's you,"He said

"You are finally awake," She said,"But it took longer than I expected."

"Huh?" He asked,"Who even are you?"

"My name is Kaida Tanaka and what about you? "She asked."I am Akio Yamamoto," he replied.

"Well Akio I'm the same as you. I'm also a candidate just like you." Hinata explained.

"What do you mean?" Akio asked.

"Follow me," Kaida said. They went to the roof of the apartment and sat down on a chair, they enjoyed the view of the warm sunset.

"Just after the great calamity some few people were given a second chance by a creature known as the system to bring salvation to humanity and I call these people,'Candidates,'." Kaida explained.

"I do remember the system calling me candidate 777," he thought to himself.

"Together with being given a second chance, we were also given blessings by the system and it looks like you were given the blessing of resurrection," she further explained.

"Wait is that why you pushed me off the building!?" He yelled at her,"You just wanted to see my blessing?"

"Yes," she said with a smile,"if it makes you feel better I will tell you my blessing."

"I was blessed with a heavenly pact with Mars ,'The god of war,' and I was also honoured with a new title,'The king of war," she explained,"During Battle, all my sense's are heightened together with my speed and strength to the limit giving me a great advantage over my enemies."

"I'm sorry Aki. I bet you probably thought humankind survived somehow but to say the truth I also haven't seen any trace of people and don't even know how much time has passed cause I also woke up recently too," Kaida explained.

"I see," Akio said while he sighed, "but I still have faith that humanity survived and are waiting for us. Will you help me find them Kaida?"

Aki reached out his hand to Hinata and she gave a gentle smile then said,"how can I say no when you asked so nicely." She grabbed his hand.

"But if I'm to believe all she said is true,that means there are more like me and some might pose a threat to me and Hinata," he thought while he drew out Demon destroyer," I have to get stronger."
