What kind of life is an “ordinary life”?

(T/N: I was thinking when translating the characters for normal is the same as ordinary and the manga has ordinary so i’ll be switch it to ordinary life so i’m sorry for the switch)

Two weeks have passed since I came to a town called Lahati. It wasn’t a bustling city, nor was it a quiet, rural town.

Laila and I, without a place to live, chose to stay at a cheap hotel.

It wasn’t morning or noon, rather, it was halfway through the morning.

“Can you tell me what “ordinary” means for a human?”

Laila replied naked while hugging me in  bed.

“I mean, eating rice and having sex every day…… although it’s not bad…… even I, the Demon King, understand that this is not an ordinary life.”

Knock~~ Knock~~

At that moment, there was a knock on the door to our room.

I immediately touched Laila’s collar and turned her back into a black cat.

“Ah? Mister Argan, are you there?”

Argan….. As I Reminisced about the name i thought it was somebody else for a moment, But I Immediately recalled that it was my temporary family name.

There was a reason I had to change my name, and it’s not exactly easy to react to it immediately.

“I’m here to collect today’s rent”

I quickly got dressed and opened the door.

The innkeeper’s daughter was outside the door.

I paid her all the money for the next week.

“What kind of work does Mr. Argan do?”

One of the things a “normal” man would do is work. It’s a job that I can do other than assassination.

It’s perfect for me who wants to be “normal”.

I must put some effort into this.

I arrived at the room where I was told to come to and  knocked on the door.

“Come in.”

As I was told, I went inside and sat on the couch.

She was called the branch chief and introduced herself as Iris Negan.

She was an impressive woman with a sharp eye.

She’s a slim, beautiful woman of about a hundred and fifty six centimeters tall in her late twenties, based on my feelings.

I introduced myself, too.

“Roland Argan, 25. Thank you very much.”

The age is suitable.

A member of the hero party told me that I look to be in my twenties.

Besides, I don’t know my true age, so I set it right on the spot.

Nevertheless, I think I was roughly about 25 years old.

Iris asked me a few questions, and I just answered them.

Have you ever been an adventurer?　―- The answer is, of course, no.

What skills?　―― I could not tell the truth to the person I met for the first time, so I said none.

Do you have any work experience in the adventurer’s guild or any other guilds? ―― No.

“Haaa,” Iris sighed in amazement..

“Okay? I know we are looking for staff, but that does not mean we will accept people without any experience. How do I run a guild if the staff has that kind of attitude? It’s as if you hate working.”

“I didn’t mean to come off in such a way.”

Even if I say that I defeated the demon king, she is unlikely to believe it to be true.

Iris diverts her gaze to the area where the pebble landed.

Iris turned around and checked to confirm something.

The distance between me and her is less than 3 meters.

She turned her face towards the noise and completely took her eyes off me.

I used my skill, “Thin Shadow”, to directly take off her underwear with her completely unaware of my presence. Of course, it depends on how and where you touch it.

“…… ‘Barely passed.’?”

“~~~~~~I want to employ you, so come work for us! We can’t do it without you! I won’t allow you to work anywhere else!”

“Thank you. I will come tomorrow as a guild employee then.”

So this is what an “ordinary interview” is like…….

It’s something I can do.

I, whose confidence in “ordinariness” increased, left the room.

(Fun facts with geek editor Identity: Iris was actually the name of a Greek goddess of the rainbow, from which comes the actual meaning of the word and name itself. It’s fun because that’s what we call our part of the eye too! There is also a cool flower with that name.)
