The Buggiest System 4 Bug

Zhou Lei was confused. He was only supposed to receive 10 points, right? How did suddenly multiply, by 10 at that!

"System is a prototype, so he is prone to bugs. I hope this won't affect your experience!" System responded, but with a different voice than the usual mechanical monotone one. Instead, the voice was soft but cheerful, like a cute girl's! This was overshadowed by the little crackles and static.

"First system bug discovered: altered rewards. The effects can be either positive or negative." This voice disappeared as soon as it came, however, as System responded with its usual solemn voice.

After Zhou Lei found out that the 100 points reward instead of the 10 points was a bug, furthermore that the bug could alter the rewards in either a positive or a negative way, he felt extremely lucky to have gotten the positive effect and did a victory dance.

A scientist was monitoring Zhou Lei and his crappy victory dance. She was overjoyed by the fact that Zhou Lei had discovered a bug in the first day that she gave him the system.

She also found the victory dance funny.

"Hahaha! This guy... is such a stupid idiot!"

The scientist then started to make another chip that fixed the one bug that Zhou Lei discovered. This was like a beta test of sorts.

Settling down, Zhou Lei went to the interface instantly and studied it carefully. These were his first upgrade points... it could have a drastic effect on his life.

"Let's see here... Strength, Wisdom, Knowledge... these are the basics. Appearance, Baseball Skill, Cooking Skill, Olfactory... Mom's Libido?!"

As he looked at more and more options, he couldn't help but feel helpless over what to pick. Zhou Lei couldn't make up his mind since there was just too many to choose from.

Ultimately, Zhou Lei picked his original plan: increase his appearance. His Appearance stat was at 5, which System described as worse than pigs.

"Do I put everything... on Appearance?"

Thinking about it, Zhou Lei decided on not doing it after all.

"Since 50 was already above average, 80 should be enough."

Zhou Lei allocated 75 of his points to Appearance, and System asked for confirmation.

"Are you sure you want to put 75 points on: Sister's Appearance?"

Too excited to think straight, Zhou Lei hastily confirmed his decision to do it.

Zhou Zhenya was on her way home. Walking back home was normal for her since her parents don't give her or her brother allowance to commute from their home to her school.

They thought of themselves as frugal and label their son and daughter as prodigal, but they don't realize how much they themselves spend on unnecessary things.

Zhou Zhenya dared not bring up this topic, for fear that her parents might just cancel her allowance completely, but her brother, Zhou Lei, couldn't keep his opinions to himself.

As a result, Zhou Lei didn't get an allowance for about a month until his parents finally eased up and forgot about the whole situation.

Seeing that her house was only a street away, Zhou Zhenya started speeding up her walking, until she arrived at the front door. She opened the door and walked in.

However, when she closed the door, she suddenly realized that she could not move anymore!

"Huh?"

She then floated and a green beam surrounded her. Surprised, she blacked out.

"The upgrades will take effect overnight."

Zhou Lei heard this after agreeing to the confirmation of System. It seems that I will have to wait overnight... Oh well!

With a satisfied look on his face, Zhou Lei rushed out of his room and prepared to go to the fridge for a bite. He was too hungry to continue living.

On his way, he saw his sister laying on the welcome mat under the doorway. Zhou Lei was surprised, he didn't expect to see his diligent sister be too lazy to even walk to her room and sleep!

Ignoring that, Zhou Lei went to the fridge and opened it. Inside, he found... ingredients which cannot be eaten raw!

"Goddamnit!"

Zhou Lei felt that it was divine retribution for ignoring his sister, not helping her when he clearly saw her collapsed on the welcome mat.

"Ugh, fine..."

Walking up to his sister's laying figure, Zhou Lei carried her to her room. Even though he was weak, his sister was fairly light so Zhou Lei had no trouble carrying her.

Soon enough, the sun had set, and night came in its stead. Everyone except for Zhou Lei was sleeping. Zhou Zhenya hasn't woken up yet after she collapsed on the mat.

As such, the Zhou parents did all of the chores themselves, despite both of them being very tired. When they heard from Zhou Lei that he found his sister laying on the mat, they both got worried.

Zhou Lei was on his bed, feigning being asleep when his parents came to check up on him. He even added the snoring sound effect for authenticity.

Of course, his parents knew that Zhou Lei wasn't actually sleeping, due to his unconvincing performance, but disregarded this as they thought that he would fall asleep soon.

Not sleeping at all, Zhou Lei was expectantly waiting for his face to become beautifully handsome. By then, his classmates would have baffled looks on their faces.

As the night passed, Zhou Lei still couldn't sleep, until a notification from System popped up. Zhou Lei had a bad premonition.

"System is a prototype, so he is prone to bugs. I hope this won't affect your experience!" Once again, the cute, soft voice of someone other than the monotone System played out in his mind.

"B-bug?" Zhou Lei was worried. He didn't see a bug anywhere... why did System say that there was a bug? Is the bug... wasted upgrade points?

"Second system bug discovered: altered selected stat. The effects can be either positive or negative, subjective to the host." System's monotone and solemn voice responded.

"altered selected stat? What does that mean?" Zhou Lei stuttered. He was not sure what this bug meant. What happened?

System quickly answered his question. "The system mistakenly upgraded stat [Sister's Appearance] by 75 points instead of [Host's Appearance]."

As he heard this, Zhou Lei nodded, looking calm as ever. However, he was despairing inside.

"Hmm... 75 upgrade points, huh?"

Just the fact that 75 points were wasted made Zhou Lei's head spin. What's more, he and his sister were always average in looks, making this the only field that Zhou Lei could compete with his sister in.

He didn't even know what his sister's stat on Appearance was! What if she already had 25 points? Him adding 75 points... would put her appearance stat at the maximum value!

If she became a first-rate beauty, even Zhou Lei, her brother, wouldn't be able to resist her charms! He wouldn't want to be charmed by his sister now, would he?

While thinking about that, Zhou Lei was also searching his stats. His eyes came across one: Restraint.

"It seems I have no choice but to put some points on here..."

Meanwhile, in Zhou Zhenya's room...

Her face no longer contained any sign of her past appearance. She now looked extremely beautiful, enough for entire countries to fight over her.

Face aside, even just a glance of her figure was enough to fall in love with her. Even girls would fall victim to her increased charms.

Of course, this was the most beautiful she could get at the young age of 11 years old. When she gets older, her beauty would surely develop more.

This whole metamorphosis happened while she was sleeping, so Zhou Zhenya was not at all aware of the changes happening on her body.

If Zhou Lei saw her right now, he wouldn't be sure whether to laugh or cry. He was supposed to be the one that got those effects, why did his sister get them instead of him?

Soon enough, Zhou Lei became too curious, and he ended up visiting his sister's room. Zhou Zhenya's transformation was complete, but she was under her blanket.

Zhou Lei couldn't bear to remove said blanket, so he left as soon as he came.

With his motivation to go to school gone, he decided that he won't go to his school again.

"Tomorrow, tomorrow for sure!"

Like the day before, no one bothered to come inside Zhou Lei's room, so they weren't aware of him skipping school.

Zhou Zhenya woke up from her slumber, which made for a beautiful scene. If anyone were to watch it, they would surely die from blood loss, due to too many nosebleeds.

"Haah..."

Stretching her arms and yawning cutely, Zhou Zhenya successfully woke up. She removed her blanket and got off the bed, ready to take a bath.

For some reason, Zhou Zhenya felt extremely refreshed. Usually, she would feel very tired, even after a good night's sleep. But now, she felt like a new person!
