Chapter 57 A Single Golden Page

If speaking only about speed, then that golden-haired maiden from the demon clan was definitely the fastest of those here. Her wings flapped, streaking across the sky like two golden lightning bolts. She was the first to arrive at the ancient palace. Extending her wings, she pushed against the five-colored jade door.

However, none of them expected a five-colored divine light to shoot out and send her flying. Even a strong Greater Demon such as she was sent tumbling five or six times before stabilizing herself. The Greater Demons and the powerful members of the Spirit Ruins Paradise performed a cooperative attack. The violet copper cauldron, the golden swords, the eight trigram mirror, the Flood Dragon scales, and all the like were slammed into the entrance of the ancient palace, finally causing it to shake and with a rumbling noise, opening up a small crack.

Immediately, an ancient and desolate air burst out, and a powerful life fluctuation as vast as an ocean appeared, knocking back all the powerful members in front.

That powerful muffled sound became even more formidable, and everyone’s faces changed, feeling acute pains in their hearts. But none of them stopped; as soon as they stabilized themselves, they all charged back towards the grand ancient palace.

Blazing lights shot everywhere, causing even the sky to tremble. All kinds of weapons shot out divine light and charged back and forth. A murderous air filled the heavens, divine energy surged, and the area in front of the ancient palace almost boiled over.

The huge battle was very fierce, and not even half an hour later, one of the Spirit Ruins Paradise’s Grand Elders who was gradually being pushed back could no longer endure. His chest was penetrated by the arms of one of the Greater Demons. Half of a burning heart was pulled out of his chest while he was still alive. Blood flew everywhere, staining the Greater Demon and giving him an even more savage appearance.

The Spirit Ruins Paradise’s Sect Leader’s expression became icy-cold. His hands moved in a secret art, drawing a bizarre trajectory in the sky. The purple copper cauldron shook, and endless purple mist spread everywhere, enveloping two Greater Demons and swallowing them into the cauldron.

Boom!

A purple divine flame soared to the heavens, and a miserable blood-curdling scream came from within the cauldron. The two Greater Demons had been refined alive, and in just a couple seconds, they floated out as nothing more than ashes.

In the distance, Ye Fan shook in fear. This kind of bitter fighting was far too horrible. As a modern man on Earth, he had some trouble accepting it. He seriously wondered what the point of being a cultivator was. Was it worth it?

At this moment, the Spirit Ruins Paradise’s Elders had begun an equally bitter fight with the ferocious beasts. A savage wide-mouthed human-shaped beast with fur half a foot long grabbed one of the Elders and tore him in half. Blood splattered everywhere as the broken corpse powerlessly fell the ground, an appalling sight that was difficult to bear. Beside it, a different Elder took out his Demon Beheading Blade, directly chopping one of the beasts in half. The Demon Beheading Blade released a light that filled the air tens of meters around it. Blood dripped off it as it hung in the sky, reeking of death.

Amongst the dozen or so super beasts, the Lightning Bird was the most frightening. Its speed was the greatest as it soared through the sky, and its golden talons swept out, ripping apart one of the Elders’ Divine Drums. Hundreds of lightning bolts shot out of it, appearing like bright blades that were dozens of meters long.  

Snap.

The Elder tried to dodge with the divine rainbow, but he was unable to avoid the hundreds of lightning bolts. His whole body became scorched black by the lightning. His body trembled a couple times before falling into the volcanic crater and was engulfed by the surging lava.

Blood and massacre were everywhere in this great battle. Both sides took casualties, each fighting with their lives on the line, each wanting to be the first to charge into the Demon Emperor’s tomb.

“Is this the life of a cultivator…?” wondered Ye Fan. In his imagination, a cultivator was someone who could harness a rainbow to travel freely within heaven and earth. But the scene in front of him was completely different.

“Maybe different cultivators walk different paths.” Saying this, his gaze once again became clear, revealing a firm determination. “Since I’ve decided on this path, I will continue to walk it step by step. My fate cannot rest in the hands of others. I must become stronger…”

Suddenly, a faint sound interrupted Ye Fan’s thinking. Pang Bo’s body began to emit a cyan mist, and green rays of light slowly shot out of his body.

Ray after ray of light started to circulate within Pang Bo’s body. Those were the Dao Glyphs left by Elder Wu Qingfeng, a sealing energy. But at this moment, they were all pushed out, and the seal lost its effect!

Pang Bo’s eyes were filled with an indistinct green color. Silently standing up, he coldly looked at Ye Fan. He seemed to want to attack, but the hand that he raised started to tremble as if it wasn’t listening to orders.

“Pang Bo!” Ye Fan shouted out his name, knowing that Pang Bo’s will hadn’t been completely suppressed. His will was definitely fighting to regain control of his body. 

Hearing this shout, Pang Bo’s body started to shake, and the demonic marks on his face became fainter by quite a bit. But with a low roar, Pang Bo’s body violently trembled and the green light swelled. His face became covered with demonic marks, and in the end, he calmed down.

At this time, he no longer stared at Ye Fan and instead turned towards the volcano. A hoarse voice came from him, “I purposely let you seal me is all…”

Ye Fan’s heart immediately became alarmed; the unknown existence that had occupied Pang Bo’s body was apparently extremely formidable.

The ancient temple’s battle was becoming fiercer. The palace gate had already been pushed open and both sides were bitterly battling in front of it. The Spirit Ruins Paradise Sect Leader, as well as two Greater Demons, had already taken a step inside.

The battle in front of the temple was extremely intense, locked in a stalemate. Pang Bo’s sudden appearance shocked all the Elders, and when the Greater Demons saw the demonic marks on Pang Bo’s face, they were all completely bewildered. 

At this moment, none of them could be bothered with him. The Spirit Ruins Paradise Sect Leader and those two Greater Demons stepped into the ancient palace at the same time, and Pang Bo left behind an afterimage as he closely followed the three.

The sky was full of dazzling lights. The remaining two Grand Elders, as well as the remaining Greater Demons, also charged into the palace. The grand ancient palace shook. The Greater Demons and the Spirit Ruin Paradise’s Sect Leader and Grand Elders were all fighting inside.

A green light flashed, and Pang Bo’s body appeared at the ancient palace’s gate as if he had been forced out by others, his face ashen. A powerful force sent the bodies on the ground flying towards the mountain that Ye Fan was on.

Ye Fan’s heart trembled because he noticed Pang Bo’s face was covered in green light had given him a quick glance before once more bellowing and charging into the ancient palace. 

Ye Fan looked over the corpses, carefully searching through them, and found that there was something strange with one of the bodies. There was a faint golden light within one of its wounds; without carefully searching, there was no way to notice it.

“What’s going on…?” Ye Fan reached out his hand into the wound and felt something inside the wound. Grabbing onto it, he pulled it out.

Immediately, rays of dazzling and glorious light rushed out, practically blinding him. A golden page with endless flowing divine splendor dazzled his eyes.

This golden paper was even heavier than metal. Many densely packed ancient characters covered it. Each character was infinitesimal, each like a brilliant star.

His heart sped up and his mouth felt dry as the divine splendor from this golden page almost blinded his eyes.
