Huo Ran thinks that adults who are opening the door to a new world for the first time, should as the front desk if the room has a water bed or not.

Or else you might end up opening the door onto a table or a couch.

A bit too advanced. Unsuitable.

Although the water bed was quite comfortable as he laid on it after they were done.

He could feel the small undulations from Kou Chen’s breathing as he lay face-to-face next to him.

He just couldn’t close his eyes.

Kou Chen’s dad was right, the bed can make you feel seasick.

“Shower?” Kou Chen reached out and flicked his nose.

“You can go,” Huo Ran said. “I’m not gonna fight you for it.”

“You didn’t fight me earlier, so you can fight me for the shower now,” Kou Chen said. “I’m not an unreasonable person.”

“You say that like there’s no water or clothes for the person who showers last,” Huo Ran clicked his tongue. “How is that the same?”

“Shower together then,” Kou Chen said.

“Why are you so clingy?” Huo Ran said.

AD

“Get up! Shower!” Kou Chen shouted as he leapt off the bed. “Not so clingy now, am I? Can you feel the bossiness?”

Huo Ran burst out into laughter: “I can.”

The bathroom was pretty big. Forget the two of them, there was enough space for the other five to all shower at the same time… Never mind, why was he thinking about them at such a time?

The shower head could be turned up, down, left, right, and rotated 3600 degrees all around. There were also a bunch of settings, like a massage one apart from the regular shower sprays.

Kou Chen stood there and pressed every single one of them, and in the end he realized the normal spray was still the best one.

“Ah—” He lifted his head, closed his eyes, and spread his arms out.

Huo Ran quickly flicked his bottom half.

“You don’t want your hands anymore?” Kou Chen narrowed his eyes at him. “I didn’t do you enough, did I?!”

Huo Ran laughed: “Be honest, you’ve been waiting for ages just to say that, right?”

“I really haven’t,” Kou Chen thought about it. “I just thought of it right now, it felt fitting.”

“Well aren’t you confident?” Huo Ran said.

“I can’t say the same for anything else, but…” Kou Chen probably remembered that he didn’t have any experience, and he couldn’t quite brag to him of all people about it, so he paused.

Huo Ran squeezed some shampoo out and started washing his hair.

Kou Chen stood beside him, frozen. After a while, he suddenly spoke up a little nervously: “What did you mean by that?”

“Huh, by what?” Huo Ran scrubbed his head, the bubbles making it so he couldn’t open his eyes, and he was unable to see the expression on Kou Chen’s face.

“That I’m confident?” Kou Chen said.

“What?” Huo Ran stopped. “Are you not?”

“That doesn’t sound right,” Kou Chen wiped the suds away from his eyes and held them open with his hand. “Are you being sarcastic?”

Huo Ran washed the suds off and turned to him. “No, but it’s not really a compliment either.”

“I was bad?” Kou Chen looked at him in shock.

“Did I say it was bad?” Huo Ran said. “I don’t really know much either, and I haven’t watched anything about it, I can’t compare it. It was fine, I guess.”

“Did it hurt?” Kou Chen asked again.

“You can criticize me later,” Huo Ran said.

“I don’t have the heart,” Kou Chen tsked.

“Don’t be shy, we need criticism to improve.” Huo Ran said seriously.

After the shower, Huo Ran kind of regretted rushing into the hotel without buying a change of clothes first. The ones he wore here still smelled of barbeque.

“Wear it for now, we can buy some more at the mall across the street,” Kou Chen said as he dressed. “It’s not that far.”

Huo Ran came up behind Kou Chen and touched the back of his head. “Is it completely healed?”

“Probably, I don’t feel anything now,” Kou Chen said. “But I can feel a scar, can hair still grow on it?”

“It’s a small scar. So what if it can’t grow hair? If you go bald when you’re older, it won’t matter anymore,” Huo Ran said.

“What are you saying?” Kou Chen turned around to glare at him. “Eighteen generations of my family!”

Huo Ran looked at him.

Kou Chen paused, thinking about whether he should say it out loud or not.

“What about them?” Huo Ran asked.

“No one has ever gone bald!” Kou Chen glared.

Huo Ran laughed: “I was just saying.”

“You can’t, hair is very precious right now.” Kou Chen said. “Every time Kou Xiao showers she starts yelling about how she lost a clump of hair or whatever. It’s super scary, I thought she went bald.”

“Doesn’t she have a lot of hair?” Huo Ran leaned onto the nearby desk and laughed.

“Who knows? Before everyone thought they were fat and were dieting all the time, and now not only are they fat, they’re balding too.” Kou Chen looked at him, suddenly going quiet.

Huo Ran started: “What?”

“Earlier, just, when you were…right there,” Kou Chen cleared his throat and pointed at the table behind him. “You looked… really good. I never realized you had such a nice body before…”

“Fuck off!” Huo Ran yelled, immediately moving away from the table. He clumsily put his clothes off and pointed at Kou Chen. “Shut up!”

The mall was very crowded, everyone taking the opportunity to go out right before the weekend is over.

Huo Ran wasn’t really in the mood to shop, even if he was with his dear Kou Chen. The uncomfortableness in a certain body part didn’t make him want to walk so much.

Kou Chen didn’t like shopping either. He wasn’t done with his clinginess either, so he kept bumping his arm against him as they walked.

The two of them went into the first sporting great store, randomly grabbed two sets of clothes, and then went to pay.

“Let me,” Kou Chen took his phone out.

Huo Ran didn’t fight him on it: “I’ll pay for dinner later then.”

“Aren’t we going back to the hotel? We’ll get room service,” Kou Chen said. “It was included in the price of the room.”

“Oh,” Huo Ran nodded.

“Don’t keep track of it so much,” Kou Chen said. “I don’t even care with Chuan-ge and the others, I’m not gonna be happy if you insist on taking turns paying.”

“I got it,” Huo Ran said.

“What do you think we are? We’re…” The cashier looked up right as he was saying that.

Huo Ran pinched him on the wait: “I got it.”

“Mhm,” Kou Chen clicked his tongue.

The hotel’s menu was pretty complete. Kou Chen was there deciding for twenty minutes. Huo Ran’s stomach was nearly about to start growling before he picked up the phone to order.

Huo Ran laid on the bed and scrolled through his phone.

The others were all back a school, so they usually won’t use the group chat much, but it was really busy today.

-ah, so lonely

-right, lonely, only 3/4th of the room is here

-only 3/4th of the room is here

–only 3/4th of the room is here

-we’re alright here, leilei put his clothes on huo ran’s bed, trying to fill up the empty space in his heart

-the long, long night is coming

-barbeque?

-nah, we just ate, and it was with vinegar

-the other 1/4th of our rooms must be eating right now

-we can’t compare

-single people have no right to eat

-sad

……

Huo Ran couldn’t stop laughing.

“What happened?” Kou Chen laid down beside him.

“Check the group chat,” Huo Ran laughed.

Kou Chen checked the group chat and started laughing. “These fuckers, they’re just sitting there being jealous of us.”

“Are we going back tomorrow morning?” Huo Ran asked.

“Mhm.” Kou Chen grabbed his bag and dug out the black envelope. He propped the pillow up and leaned back against it. “Don’t bother me, I’m gonna read this.”

“I thought you already read it?” Huo Ran sat up too.

“No, we were busy the whole afternoon, there wasn’t time.” Kou Chen ripped off the rose carefully. “I feel like you only wrote half a page.”

“It’s a whole page, I write big.” Huo Ran said.

Kou Chen laughed.

“Don’t yell at me after,” Huo Ran said. “I always get pity points on my essays.”

Kou Chen took the paper out with a smile. “Don’t make me laugh, I have to be serious when I read this.”

Huo Ran didn’t say anything more. He stared at the side of his face.

Kou Chen was probably very focused on it. He had the same expression when he studies these days, pouring his all into it.

Only his eyelashes blinked up and down.

Huo Ran controlled himself so he didn’t reach out and tug on them.

But Kou Chen wasn’t paying any attention to him at all. His eyes were glued to the paper.

The contents of the lover letter were just passable really, and it wasn’t very long. But Kou Chen read it slowly. His eyes moved from left to right, taking a long time to read each line.

“Do you have dyslexia?” Huo Ran couldn’t help but ask.

Although the contents were simple, the little pinky promise doodle was meticulously drawn.

But Kou Chen took forever to read it. He didn’t say anything about the doodle, and it made him pretty anxious.

“Watch it,” Kou Chen replied coolly, still reading. “I’ll hit you.”

“Where are you at?” Huo Ran asked.

“Halfway,” Kou Chen said. “You’re not gonna pass entrance exams like this.”

“Worry about yourself first. With your skills right now you’d have to beg your dad to take the exam for you to not fail,” Huo Ran said.

The corner of Kou Chen’s mouth quirked up slightly.

A while later, he finally put down the paper.

But he didn’t turn around. He just sat there staring down at the paper for a long time.

“What’s wrong?” Huo Ran poked him lightly on the leg.

“Nothing,” Kou Chen said. A few seconds later, he turned to him and put his hand up, sticking his pinky finger out. “Pinky promise.”

“Pinky promise.” Huo Ran smiled, hooking his pinky around his.

“I’ve never pinky promised anyone before,” Kou Chen stared at their joined fingers.

“Me neither,” Huo Ran said.

Kou Chen quickly grabbed his phone and took a picture of their hands.

“Got the bracelets in the photo too, but I think…” He hesitated, then he curled his leg in, sticking his foot out. “Like this, then we can get everything.”

“What’s wrong with you?” Huo Ran looked at him.

“Hurry up,” Kou Chen said.

Huo Ran could only copy him with a sigh. He brought his own leg in and put it next to Kou Chen’s to act as a background for the photo.

The result was a contorted photo of hands and feet in an unimaginable position.

But Kou Chen was pretty happy with it.

“If you post it I’ll kill you.” Huo Ran warned him.

“It’s a dudeoir photo,” Kou Chen said.

“Dudeoir my ass, do you even know what that means?” Huo Ran said. “It’s an ugly photo.”

“How about…” Kou Chen’s gaze traced up his pants. “We take some… duedoir… photos?”

“Fuck off!” Huo Ran jumped off of the bed and ran into the garden.

“Huo Ran.” Kou Chen was still sitting on the bed with his phone raised and facing him. “Look at me.”

“I’m tired of looking at you.” Huo Ran turned around.

“The love letter was amazing,” Kou Chen said. “It’s the best love letter I’ve ever seen.”

“The sweet talk is a little much,” Huo Ran laughed.

“I’m serious,” Kou Chen said. “Really. It’s a love letter from Huo Ran, so of course it’s the best.”
