Potion Maker Chapter 45: Meeting Klein, part one

Walking at an even pace, they headed towards where Cecily's father spends most of his time. As they walked, their noses where tickled by the scents of the food coming from the stalls, and the voices of children playing blew past their ears.

"Later when I go to my mother's grave to tell her I am back, I would like you to come with me"

Taken by surprise, Will gave Cecily a suspicious glance as his mind started to wander, "Isn't this a little too fast? I mean, we don't know each other that well"

"What do you mean!? You're going to be a huge help to the sect, why wouldn't I tell my parents about you?"

Realizing how it would be easy to misunderstand her words, she defended herself while being slightly flustered.

'Even if I did like him...Ugh! I need to not get distracted!'

As they walked, a breeze carrying the cold touch of winter swirled around them, kicking up spirals of dust from the ground.

"Winter is coming"

"Obviously"

As the stalls selling food started to become less and less, the amount of shops increased gradually as they continued walking.

In the distance a hundred meters ahead of them, a man in his early twenties stood with a disdainful look in his eyes as he watched Will and Cecily. He had silver hair that was tied up on top of his head with an ornamental pin that released an oppressive aura, his red eyes gleamed with an evil light, and in the gentle breeze his dark robes fluttered ever so slightly.

"Little sister, it seems you have arrived early, even bringing a guest.."

Squinting his eyes, he let out a cold snort as he observed Will, the man's pale face that had no imperfections scrunched up.

"Interesting, reading the mana in the air I can tell he's one of the legendary rejecteds.."

The man had very similar features when compared to Cecily, silver hair, red eyes.. Even the noticeably pale skin.

This man is her older brother Klein.

'Must have brought him to use his potential to bring me down so I don't inherit father's position, very well, time to get rid of some trouble'

With a cold grin Klein approached the two as his eyes emitted a vicious light, as he got closer he signaled to his five guards he always brings with him, plus an elder that happens to support his behavior so he frequently joins Klein in causing trouble.

"Klein!"

Will stopped walking as Cecily shouted at a man in front of them, his eyes lighting up with unconcealed killing intent as he stared at Will and Cecily.

"Little sister! Haven't seen you in a while, let brother get a good look at you!"

In a flash Klein appeared in front of Cecily as he reached out to grab her chin, grinning with a devilish light in his eyes.

Pah!

"What was that for!? I cannot be concerned about my "dear" little sister?"

Slapping Klein's hand away Cecily backed up as she glared at him, her eyes almost spitting flames in rage.

"Get out of my sight! You monster!"

Hearing Cecily call him a monster, he trembled slightly as veins bulged on his forehead.

"You and father are so STUPID! Me? A monster? Hahaha! We are a demonic sect sister! I am the only normal one here!"

"I will kill all of you with my own hands in the future! I will bring this sect the glory that it deserves! Even if I have to slaughter countless innocents! Blood ties? Pfft! Call me a monster then!"

Hearing his words, Cecily trembled in visible rage. Although they are a demonic sect, they don't approve of harming innocents! That's what has made them unique on the unorthodox path! Although they use blood for a majority of their techniques, it is always the blood of criminals or enemies, sometimes an innocent would get involved but it's avoided as much as possible.

Will could feel a rage boiling within him, growing stronger by the second as he watched Cecily be put in this situation. After a few seconds, Cecily glared intensely at Klein, if eyes could kill he would have died a thousand times over!

At this point, a crowed started to form as people that started to spectate asked each other questions as they tried to figure out what was happening.

"Klein! You go against everything our family believes in! You are betraying our ancestors! You came over here to specifically start trouble didn't you!? This is why father doesn't want you to become the head of the family, your behavior and personality is unwanted!"

"You!"

Shaking with rage Klein could be seen to be losing restraint of his actions as he waved at the elder that is always following him. Feeling alarmed Will attempted to dash over as quick as he could, but the elder appeared in the blink of an eye, and a barrier from a treasure surrounded Cecily restricting her movements.

'Is this the conflict that powerful families deal with? Even to the extent of showing your obvious urge to kill your sibling!?'

Will was enraged! It isn't like he was a stranger to these things, even in his old world powerful families have killed each other off, even in modern times, for power or over who will inherit.

Normally he wouldn't care about these things, coming from a normal family of commoners, the conflicts of powerful families wasn't anything to concern himself with. But witnessing things like this happening in front of you, it is hard to remain indifferent!

Especially when it's someone you care about!

"Did you hear me? I SAID KNEEL!"

"WHAT!?"

Quickly coming to, Will realized that Klein was yelling at him, realizing what he said he was consumed with rage.

"If you don't kneel to me, don't blame me for reporting to the righteous faction that a Rejected happened to show up at our doorstep! Remain obedient to me, and you won't have anything to worry about, KNEEL!"

"Brother! Damn you!"

Cecily struggled in the barrier and used all of her power, only causing the barrier to shake slightly. The crowd scattered as they realized how dangerous the situation has become, fearing getting caught up in the events to come.

"Who do you think you are!?"

"Me? I am the person who came to block my sister's path, and your master. Since you won't kneel on your own…"

Will trembled with rage as he stepped forward, finally realizing the true cruelty of this world, or of life in general.

Even though in his old world he didn't see these things happening, in large cities that was the home to the rich and corrupted, there were always people being put in this situation. At least, the people that dared to associate with the rich and corrupted, they suffered in the end.

In this world though, it's even worse, as long as one has just a little more power, in broad daylight, they have no issue trying to suppress you!

In any world, as long as you have the bigger fist, laws can't restrain you!

Snapping out of his mental state, Will could hear Cecily's attempts to break out of the barrier, as well as a voice that made his face turn red with rage.

"Since you won't kneel on your own, guards, help him out!"
