Masked Girl and Her Prince 28 Chapter 28: THEY ARE HERE

Usui stood up slowly as he straightened his clothes even though it didn't have a slight crease on it.

He walked to his position which earned him a frown. Freya peered at him as if telling him to back down from the match.

Usui chuckled and teased her, "My dear, don't stare at me so much. My heart might just fly out from my chest to your hands."

Hearing this, Freya closed her eyes in surrender while the spokesman and the audience tried to control his laughter.

'So cringy!!' they inwardly screamed at him.

Freya opened her eyes as she took her dagger out and dragged her words, threateningly, "Don't blame me if today becomes your doomsday."

Usui winked at her, "Why would I blame you? It would be my honour if I could die in your lovely hands."

Freya flared up as she said, "Cut your crap."

Usui laughed as he heard her. He clearly knew that this battle could cost him his life, so he had prepared his mind for the worst. He only had one regret as he glanced his brother, who was at the edge of his seat, looking at him eagerly and nervously.

He raised his fist up in the air and screamed, "You can do this, brother."

Usui couldn't help but smile a little at his brother's excitement. He let out a deep breath when he imagined his crestfallen face on hearing the truth.

He glanced at the platform and saw Rin watching him expectantly. Rin, on noticing his brother gaze, waved his hand enthusiastically shocking the king and queen.

Usui was grateful for meeting this adorable kid in this kingdom. He glanced at Freya, who was silently urging him to back out and slowly took his black thunder out.

'I guess you would have to find a new owner tomorrow.' Usui said in his mind.

He could feel the sword's prejudice as he heard its voice in his mind, 'Do you seriously think I would let you die?'

He ignored its words as he believed nothing could save him from this situation. He was welcoming death in open arms.

Usui smiled helplessly at Freya before he heard the spokesman begin counting down.

Freya got into her stance and so did Usui but before the final count could take place.

They heard a loud cry, "NEIGH" and the screams of people before they heard the disoriented loud steps of the horse. Everyone turned their attention to the entrance of the hall.

To their horror, they saw a wounded horse galloping inside madly and braked itself in front of Freya. The horse whined pitifully at her as it rubbed its face on her face.

Freya rubbed its face, calming the horse down before she looked at the person laying behind on its back. She noticed the person was gravely injured as she slowly helped the person off the horse's back.

Her eyes blazed in fury, realising the injured person to be none other than one of the soldiers, she used to meet frequently. This was one of the soldiers who was sent to station themselves up north to detect any movement from the Forbidden forest.

As she laid him down, she got a clear look at his wounds which was too gruesome. She gritted her teeth as she examined the wounds. She didn't need further clarification as she knew he was tortured by the number of wounds on his body.

He had cuts all over his body and his waist was missing a small chunk of flesh. There was blood dripping all over the horse's body. It wasn't sure if it was the horse's blood or not.

Freya's eyes blazed in fury seeing one of their soldiers tortured badly to this extent. She shouted, " HEALERS!!! COME HERE."

The injured soldier regained his consciousness hearing his general's shout and coughed slightly.

Freya shouted again, frantically, " WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY? "

Usui was shocked looking at the events happening around him. Just a moment the hall was filled with cheers but now, it looked like a graveyard. He could see the anger in everyone's eyes even Zeno who always had a calm face looked like he was ready to wreak destruction.

The injured soldier had difficulty in breathing but he ignored that and tugged on Freya's clothes hurriedly.

She looked at the soldier in difficulty as she whispered, "Don't worry, the healers are here."

Ignoring her words, the soldier continuously tugged her clothes as he opened his mouth and closed it frequently.

Freya on realising that he was trying to talk, moved closer to him and heard the two damn words, which gripped the people present, in fear.

Today was marked as the beginning of one of the major downfalls, " They are..here."
