Masked Girl and Her Prince 12 Chapter 12: Surprise turn of events

Everyone laughed as they watched Usui finish chanting his spell. Everyone was curious to know what spell he cast.

No one saw any changes and one by one, people started to laugh, " Look at him... he was chanting something but nothing happened."

And then it happened, all they saw was Jinha staring at an empty space before being wrapped inside a dark ball.

Freya studied the formation with surprise, "Third-degree formation."

There were three kinds of masters: Mana users are users who use mana around them to influence the four elements - earth, wind, fire and water. Beast tamers are people who tame mana beasts and Formation masters are users who master arrays.

Being skilled in formations would already be considered a genius as only a few people have an affinity towards it. And, being a third-degree formation master at this age shows his abilities.

Zeno asked in shock, "Third-degree formation. Wait he was a formation master?"

He sighed,' No wonder he's called a genius. He might be a difficult one for Jinha.'

Freya frowned," Hmm... I'm sure he would escape the formation but...."

They looked at her worriedly, as she sighed, " I don't know how he will turn up after escaping the formation."

Usui heaved a sigh as he finished placing the formation, he panted as it was his first time trying to place a formation during the battle, it took half of his energy to focus on the dots to connect the formation. He knew he won this battle as soon as Jinha got trapped.

He shifted his gaze at her while panting slightly and to his surprise, found her staring at him with narrowed eyes. For a second, he thought she saw through his powers but then, shook it off. 'That's impossible.'

He placed his hand around his waist where Jinha had kicked him earlier and dragged his body back to the bench.

He started walking back to Rin tiredly and as he looked at the little prince, he could see both Rin and Zelal looking at him horrified.

As he was wondering why they were staring, he heard a rustling noise behind him. Turning back, he saw a sight which he would be forever implanted in his mind.

He gulped,' Oh boy! I just awoke a beast. Didn't I?'

....

Sometime back,

Inside the dark space.

Jinha's heart began to pound as sweat dripped on his face.

"Jinha… Jinha."

A voice called behind him, causing him to immediately turn around from the suddenness.

"W-Who's there?"

His eyes widened to no end when he saw his entire family helplessly tied up before him. His little brother, his older sister, his beloved mother and father.

A dark, mysterious figure suddenly appeared between him and his family. Instead of confronting Jinha, it went straight towards his family as a pair of claws shot down from one of its arms.

"Jinha, save yourself. Getaway while you can!" His mother and father shouted.

"No.. NO, I REFUSE. I'll save you this time!"

Before Jinha could take another step forward, a pair of shadowy hands held onto his feet, paralyzing him immediately.

The mysterious figure drew closer to his family. Their screams only got louder by the second.

"BROTHER... SISTER… MOM, DAD. STOP, PLEASE. NOOOO!!!"

The figure rose its claws and dismembered them before his very eyes.

….

To the present,

With only a few steps left to go, The air thinned as much as it logically could. The whole crowd screamed as Jinha rose like a dead body that once lost a soul.

Usui looked at him with his eyes wide open, 'He br--broke through my for-formation?'

He couldn't believe his eyes as he watched Jinha stare at him with eyes full of hatred. It was a first for him, that someone broke through his formation.

Unfortunately, he was half spent trying to place the formation and couldn't summon up more energy. He shuddered as he saw Jinha, walking towards him, like a hungry panther eyeing his prey.

The crowd was speechless. All they saw was Jinha staring at space for a couple for minutes, walking slowly and later, rushing towards Usui in rage. His eyes were glowing in absolute rage as he let out a blood-curdling growl.

"YOU… YOU SON OF THE GOD DAMN DEVIL!"

Jinha lunged forward at inhuman speed. It almost looked as if he teleported as he appeared before Usui in a split second, weapon rose and ready to sink into Usui's head.

Usui's body reacted faster than his mind, he raised his sword to block his attack but Jinha's attack broke his sword into pieces and the force made him crash against the wall.

Usui groaned in pain before he could move, Jinha appeared in front of him, raising his spear, planning to finish this once and for all while Usui looking at Jinha horrified.

Seeing Jinha in such a state was enough to make him feel as if his own soul had already left his body. The shock was too much to the point Usui couldn't move a muscle.

"That's quite enough!" a loud, bold voice suddenly called out.

It was the king. He seemed very disappointed and uneasy from what he had witnessed.

Both men froze before the spokesman called out stuttering.

"The ma..match is over...The result is d...dr..raw!"

The king frowned as he looked straight at the spokesman and spoke aloud.

"Your timing is ridiculous; this should have been stopped by you much earlier!"

"Your highness, I'm deeply sorry. Please forgive me." The spokesman stammered.
