Legend of the Maestro Chapter 7

Sun Xuelin attempted to shoot a few times, but she could feel that something wasn't right, and it bothered her deeply.

She had depended on her gun for too long; and now, all of a sudden, it couldn't hit her target.

Sun Xuelin was certainly perceptive, so she recognised immediately that there was something strange about YC's moving pattern. Sometimes, his path had seemed curvy, yet the other times it didn't.

"Oh, he wants to use the Arching Track to counter my shooting. That's really naïve of him." For some unknown reasons, that just got on Sun Xuelin's nerves.

Dealing with Arching Track wasn't difficult, especially when everyone had their own force of habits. A keen eye would have found out the patterns. After several fights with YC, she had already gotten his. Moreover, there was a limit on how the Arching Track could vary, and she already grasped that thoroughly.

Sun Xuelin patiently counted all the variations, with her sight fixated on YC, she was waiting for her chance to strike.

"Great, now is the time!" Sun Xuelin shot without any hesitations.

However, that was a miss!

As if YC could have predicted that, he turned at the precise movement and had managed to avoid the shot. Was it luck? What else could it be? That indeed perturbed and distressed Sun Xuelin.

As YC was approaching her, she panicked a little bit. Without any focus on the target, she just shot at Ye Zhong randomly, all over the place.

It seemed like luck was still on her side when one of the bullets hit YC's left shoulder, and he tumbled.

At this moment, Ye Zhong's back was soaked in sweat, his arms got heavier, and started to lose control, it had even got into a spasm. He had bit his lower lip tightly till it bled, but he wasn't aware of it.

The mecha rattled, Ye Zhong knew that the Black Bird had just been shot.

There was no time to check the location of the wound, Ye Zhong's arms were still moving non-stop.

Before Sun Xuelin could have congratulated herself, she realized that YC had leaned to one side after the shot. Who could have passed such a wonderful opportunity? Sun Xuelin was thinking of a fatal attack, when she learned that the shot had only made YC's moving orbit even more bizarre. She became more panicked and confused. Thus, her shooting became more chaotic.

The size of Ye Zhong's opponent grew as he got closer. Ye Zhong felt more excited, his arms, which were tremendously heavy earlier, suddenly gained speed.

Nearer … nearer … almost there!

"Kyaaa!" Ye Zhong screamed out loud, as sudden as a thunder exploding in the mid of spring.

His opponent seemed stunned, just stood there unmoving. A trap? A scheme? Whatever it could be, Ye Zhong didn't think much about it, took his magnetic sword from his back and swung with his right hand, at the same time, his left hand sneakily reached out the alloy dagger hidden in his left thigh.

Ye Zhong truly believed that as long as he could get close, he would be able to defeat his opponent.

The magnetic sword produced a buzzing sound, the blade sparked, without any further ado, Ye Zhong sliced his opponent's throat, well, the mecha's throat. His easy win dumbfounded him. The Mecha's throat was a fatal spot just like a human's.

How could his opponent have made such a silly yet fatal mistake?

No time to think, with his experience in the dump planet, he didn't drop the dagger down. The alloy dagger in his left hand was like a cobra, precise and poisonous, and penetrated the mecha Shadow Phoenix's chest - the location of the cockpit.

At the same time, the winning notification echoed throughout the room.

Sun Xuelin sat on the magnetic chair in a daze. Her communicating helmet was floating about. Bizarrely shadowy, yet ghostly, brutal attack yet direct, courageous without accepting defeat, everything was stirring in Sun Xuelin's head. She couldn't think of anything else.

Sun Hai Ning realized that although his daughter Sun Xuelin had been sitting at the dining table, her mind seemed to have been wandering off somewhere else. He turned to his wife, who shook her head lightly. Feeling worried, he asked "Lin'er, what's wrong? Do you feel unwell?"

That woke Sun Xuelin from her daydream. She wondered what was happening to her. She reluctantly answered with a smile, "Nothing much, it's just that I met a really strange opponent today."

That kindled Sun Hai Ning's curiosity " Huh? A strange opponent? How strange?"

Sun Hai Ning was an elite Master, all of Sun Xuelin's techniques were from his teachings.

Sun Xuelin suddenly recalled that her father was an elite Master, so if she didn't know anything, her father could have provided an answer. Thus, she told him what had happened. Upon hearing that YC was defeated repeatedly, yet still repeatedly picked a fight, Sun Hai Ning nodded in agreement "Not bad, this YC was sure a courageous person!"

When Sun Xuelin mentioned the shadowy and bizarre movements, especially the final part of YC's Arching Track, Sun Hai Ning's face darkened. He immediately asked in great details regarding it. With her father's cues, Sun Xuelin could recall a lot of minute details that she had missed out earlier.

Sun Hai Ning told her in a serious tone "If that was just as you had described, then it is the Chaos Arching Track Leap. This combination of evading movements was only practiced by the most elite Masters, because not only does it requires complex movements, it also needs an highly advanced mecha. Only high quality mechas could have had a processing unit advanced enough to deal with such complicated calculations."

That confused Sun Xuelin, "But didn't he use a Black Bird?"

"That's what surprised me the most. Theoretically, the Black Bird shouldn't have been able to have accomplished such a feat. Even if his arms had been capable, the Black Bird's processing unit could have never been able to. Then one possibility left is that he had modified his Black Bird, and added on a powerful processing unit."

Sun Xuelin curled her lips, "But I think he was a newcomer."

Sun Hai Ning cackled, "So what? A newcomer can't modify his mecha? Moreover, it's possible that his teacher or his predecessor did that for him and especially tailored it to suit his fighting style. Nevertheless, this YC is definitely skillful that he could pull off such a high level technique"

Sun Xuelin kept questioning "Then why didn't he use that from the start? Why had he waited after so many defeats?"

Sun Hai Ning got tongue tied, "Ah … well … uhm … this is … because … sign … Sun Xuelin, just eat, come on, the food is all cold now."

Sun Hai Ning's wife tried to hold her laughter in when she saw him getting all embarrassed and was gobbling down his food to hide that.

Although her father gave some sort of reasonable answer, Sun Xuelin still thought that there was more to it. She couldn't pinpoint the sources of her doubt other than that it was just her gut feelings.

Even Sun Hai Ning couldn't dream of doing such movements without a processing unit's assistance but based completely on arm control. Sun Xuelin was in disbelief of such possibilities as well.

Being contemplative, she kept patting her head to subside the headache from over thinking. Never mind, just forget it, isn't it better to just ask him the next time?
