Legend of the Maestro Chapter 4

Ye Zhong was chomping through the roasted Rat meat, while staring at the blueprint of Mu Shang's internal engines. Ye Zhong had spent countless of efforts pleading with Mu Shang for it. The blueprint was such a sight to behold, Ye Zhong thought to himself. Since the time that his foster father had trained him in mechanics, Ye Zhong was close to a professional, yet he was still dazed after reading this. No other options, gotta deduce step by step. Doing that made him appreciate the designer of such a machine even more.

After spending half of a day observing, Ye Zhong's eyes were strained and finally looked away from the blueprint. Seeing Mu Shang sitting silently aside, he couldn't help but taunted it "Mu, stop wasting your time. It's not easy to breach this transferring station. My dad had tried a lot of times, but never once succeeded."

Mu Shang was still unmoving, as if he didn't hear a thing that Ye Zhong just said.

Old habits die hard, Ye Zhong stared at the blueprint, and rambled "Mu, it's not like I told you to give up since it's an impossible mission. What I meant was that you can use that time of yours to help me out a bit here. I have glued my eyes to this tattered blueprint for half of a day, and I can't figure out a thing. The one that designed this sure is a genius, hohoho, splendid, splendid!"

"Breached in successfully" - said Mu Shang out of the blue.

Without any changes in his expression, Ye Zhong still fixed his sights on the blueprint, and asked without paying much attention "Huh? Breached in successfully? When did you learn to make a joke? Ha, not bad, not bad. Actually, you are making progress. But hey Mu, when you fail at something, just say so. Especially with such an impossible task, you are obviously doomed. Noone's gonna laugh at you."

Mu Shang ignored Ye Zhong and went on "Farr Region weekly important news broadcast: the Hui Tan Floating City has started its citizen admission process. The first batch of new citizens will enjoy these following privileges … "

Ye Zhong paused for a bit, even his hands froze, then looked up and said in astonishment "You… You really succeeded it?"

Mu Shang replied smoothly "No doubts about it."

Ye Zhong carefully rechecked "Are you sure?"

Mu Shang responded "I am sure."

"Hahaha, I finally know what's going on in the outside world, I finally know what's going on in the outside world!" Ye Zhong jumped up in excitement. "Bang!" he hit the ceiling hard with his overpowered leap. However, he seemed to be unaware of his pain, and just continued running around the house ecstatically and exclaiming his mood.

Mu Shang's voice resounded, "Ye Zi, have you completed your preparation?"

That startled Ye Zhong, and he soon cooled off. He drew a deep breath, and replied, "It's done"

As soon as he had finished his sentence, the whole scene in front of Ye Zhong transformed dramatically.

Ye Zhong shook his head, feeling a bit nauseas. Mu Shang's voice echoed in Ye Zhong's head "First-time users usually experience nausea. It's a common occurrence. No bodily harm was caused."

Ye Zhong understood a bit, and started to look and assess his surroundings.

The first thing he saw was a screen of light that was created by several rays crossing each other. As if those dazzling lights were alive, they were constantly flowing and changing, generating different colours.

His sense of sight was immensely stimulated, and that stirred up feelings that he had never experienced before.

In the only world he had ever known, there were merely the black and white shades of metal, the orange sunlight, and the colour of rust in his surroundings. He had never once thought that the colors could have been this rich and vibrant.

Ye Zhong stood still, overwhelmed by those gorgeous colours.

If someone passed by Ye Zhong and had seen his expression, they would have immediately told him off in a low voice, "Idiot"

That was like a wake up call to him, he couldn't help but felt bitter. The ones having such a fabulous life wouldn't have been able to understand the harshness of his life. However Ye Zhong wasn't the type to blame others for his hardships, so after feeling down for a bit, he was back to his normal self.

It was as if Mu Shang had understood the entire situation, it had been silent till this moment, "Ye Zi, you can walk out from the light screen"

Ye Zhong did as he was told. In front of him, there was a vast square with numerous machines that Ye Zhong had never known of. In the middle of the square, there was a big retroreflective screen, showing different important news and information.

"The central square is a news zone, it's my first time here as well, so just explore on your own. Call me if you encounter any difficulty. I can detect your brain waves. Let's go then."

Ye Zhong wasn't sure whether he should be glad or freaked out by the whole situation, however his worries was soon overshadowed by his curiosity. Ye Zhong accessed his surroundings inquisitively, and moved along without thinking about it.

The survival instincts he relied on his whole life had caused him to be cautious in any unfamiliar situations. He always kept a distance of two meters away from everyone else, because it was his optimal attacking distance. With that distance, he could react to any unexpected scenario at anytime. On the dump planet, moving with high speed through the messy jungle of rubbish was his knack too. Thus, he was like a fish swimming through the crowd, at ease and neatly. Moreover, compared to the other people having such a slow pace, Ye Zhong moved as if he was in a big rush. It was due to the fact that every second on the dump planet counted, not only could it have impacted the amount that he could have gathered, but also could have been the difference between a life and death situation.

Ye Zhong was like a piranha swimming past a school of slow half-awake fish. It was too contrasting, making it rather difficult to watch.

His foster father used to say that life beside the dump planet was happy and contented, without the countless numbers of mutated beasts that could bring a person to his death, without the daily storm occurring at a fixed time, without searching for food among the rubbish. People here wore gorgeous outfits, ate fresh and exquisite food, and lived a peaceful and relaxing life. Everyday, they went to work, or to school, they had multiple friends, and more importantly, several different types of mechas.

Ye Zhong asked his foster father longingly if that was heaven, his father said no. That had bothered Ye Zhong so much, because if it wasn't heaven, what else could it have been? Since he was a kid, Ye Zhong had tried to imagine how the outside world would have looked like, maybe a mystical place with endless fantasy.

Finally, he could finally approach the world that he had always dreamt of.

Ye Zhong couldn't grasp this feeling. He was lost in his thoughts, uncertain of where he was.

Ye Zhong stared at the ceiling blankly.

He couldn't remember how he had gotten back, his head was full of feelings that he had never known of, and he didn't understand why. It seemed that he needed a long time to be able to digest all of the information that he had learned.

Mu Shang didn't say a word, his silence would always baffle people as to what that resourceful brain of his was scheming.
