Leap through the pages

I heard the same voice again, and for a fleeting moment, I wondered if suddenly there was a ghost was lurking around me.

It was a tough decision to make: should I open my eyes or not? But i thought for sometime with my closed eyes and I settled for a compromise and cautiously opened one eye to assess my surroundings. To my shock, both my eyes were wide open now.

My world had transformed before my very eyes. I glanced towards the window, where the outside light painted a peculiar and subdued atmosphere across the scene, leaving me bewildered.

I was no longer in the room where I had fallen asleep, and the bed beneath me felt foreign and unfamiliar.

And then, the shock of all shocks: I noticed a girl beside me, her form concealed beneath a blanket, her eyes opening wide with the same astonishment and confusion that churned within my own bewildered heart.

In the shared bewilderment, we found ourselves on the precipice of a scream, our vocal cords poised to shatter the stillness of the room with sheer panic.

But, before a sound could escape our mouths, an unknown hand swiftly covered them, clamping down to stifle the impending shriek.

My eyes were searching for third person and i was terrified, a figure who loomed over us, his hand pressed firmly against our mouths, rendering me speechless and trembling. 'A man?'

In the face of this inexplicable situation, my mind drew a blank, my body quivering with a potent mix of fear.

Time seemed to blur, and in an instant. The world around me swirled and spiralled into darkness, I lost my consciousness on the bed.

It seemed like a dream to me when i was conscious again. It had been so vivid, so real, and yet now, it slowly evaporated like morning mist beneath the warmth of the sun. My eyes blinked open, and my eyes scanning the room.

My eyes flicked to the side, they fell upon the figure of the girl who was sitting next to me.

'It was not a dream but reality.'

I woke up abruptly, my heart pounding with shock as I glanced at the unfamiliar girl sitting before me. My eyes then darted to the man seated in the plush chair.

The man was glaring at me with an intensity that radiated anger and suspicion. It was as if I were an intruder, a mysterious presence that posed a threat to him.

He demanded answers, his voice sharp and accusatory.

He questioned my identity, how I had managed to infiltrate his room, and why I had been sleeping beside him on his bed while he lay with his mistress.

Even as I trembled in this unfamiliar place, his words made me think.

Was he genuinely displeased to find himself sandwiched between two women?

It's the kind of predicament most might consider a delightful twist of fate, a situation to boast about to friends over a round of drinks.

But he appeared to be absolutely furious, and his demand for an explanation, like a thunderstorm waiting to unleash its torrential rain.

I brought my attention back to the present and this time I watched him and the women carefully.

A confusion started to arouse in my mind and my eyes started to think and I saw my phone beside me.

I took my phone and unlocked it.

I carefully adjusted its position, elevating it to a height where I could align the man's face with the image I had stored within my device.

And there, as my eyes flitted between the two dimensions, I watched as the lines of reality and imagination converged.

The man, who had been a mere figment of the novel, was now sitting right in front of me, his features mirrored with an uncanny precision.

It was a moment where the boundaries of the known and the unknown danced in delicate balance.

My body froze, and my lips remained locked in a silent vow of secrecy.

I was unable to grasp the significance of the current situation.

I sat there like a stone, lost within the labyrinth of events that defied all explanation.

It's Adrian's and his bedroom, an entirely unexpected turn of events and the girl must be Juli.

In the span of mere hours, gone from my familiar world to this perplexing alternate reality.

It was as if I had stumbled into a dream, or perhaps I had crossed some mysterious threshold into a parallel universe?

'Did God had really eavesdropped on my cries yesterday?'

With every passing moment, I felt like the comedic star of an absurd cosmic play, a character caught in the most bewildering narrative.

And yet, despite the cacophony of my inner churnings, I knew I had to maintain an appearance of confidence and calm.

Stay calm! Stay calm! I chanted the mantra in my head.

The girl who had remained seated beside me throughout this bewildering ordeal gazed upon me with a sense of compassion and kindness she offered me a glass of water.

“Please drink this water.”

I humbly took the glass from Juli and started to drink. I really needed that before i loose my conscious.

Meanwhile while drinking my eyes met with Adrian who was sitting right opposite to me and still glaring at me intensely.

I placed the glass on the side table, took courage and asked Adrian, "May I .... may i please use the washroom? I promise to answer your queation afterwards "

Adrian with an intense look nodded his head allowing me to take sometime.

Juli took my hand and led me to show me the bathroom.

I humbly requested juli that if she could let me have a some alone time.

With a gentle smile she gave assured me, "I am right here for you."

I closed the dooe and took the water in my palms and splashed on my face again and again telling myself to

"wake up, wake up."

Nothing changed. Now I am sure that, it is not a dream.

Which means either god granted my wish and threw me in a novel world or he threw meto a parallel universe where the characters existed.

After splashing water on my face, I experienced a renewed sense of freshness and relaxation.

Gazing at my reflection in the mirror, my eyes drifted down to my pink short pyjama adorned with a playful cupcake pattern.

How could I be adorned in this? I had broken yet another rule, baring my skin to a stranger man.

Panic surged within me. What should I do? I couldn't just leave like this. It is not that my Adrian would provide me with an alternative outfit out of kindness, and I certainly hadn't packed any spare clothing for my unexpected journey here.

Then, there came a knock on the door. When I opened it, there stood Juli, offering a spare set of clothes for me with a smile on her face.

It was big relief that flooded over me, like finding a lost sister in this unfamiliar world, someone who cared for me and my predicament.

If I had foreseen my journey into Adrian's world, I would have chosen another ensemble, perhaps with a touch of makeup before sleeping.

After changing into anothe pair of clothes, I step out of the washroom.

As I swung open the door to venture outside, Juli stood just in proximity. Together, we strolled toward the Duke's chamber, where he patiently awaited my arrival.
