She was only discovered when she charmed everyone in the palace to sleep for 20 hours so that she and General Kaoshin Stardust could escape Akkadia. He now suspected that Emma inherited her mother's ability as a telemancer and had tried to read his mind but failed. So, now Emma was confused.

"If you are not a telemancer, why can't I read your mind?" asked Emma. She found her telemancy to be very confusing. In the past, when she just recovered her powers in Paris, she could read everyone's mind except Haoran. However, suddenly after she and Haoran kissed, she could read him.

Now she also cannot read the minds of the two Akkadian men who came to see her. She didn't know how her power should work.

"Then I won't go home," Emma said stubbornly.
