Don't Turn from Summer Chapter 61

I’m crying as I type this with furious fingers… … Why do authors always right such coincidentally depressing situations?!?! And why do I keep crying at all of them?!

Cheng Wei Wei can go to fucking hell.

And I’m not kidding. I don’t swear often, but when I do, I truly mean it with all of my heart.

She is an absolute bitch.

Chapter 61

This night, Lin Mo Chen sleeps for very long and very deeply.

When he wakes up, his head throbs with the dull pain from a hangover. Outside the window, it is still raining and overcast as night.

He leans against the head of the bed as he sits, his brain gradually waking up, remembering what happened last night.

After Mu Han Xia turned and left, he had pushed Xue Ning away. At that time, Xue Ning’s expression had been startled, looking very delicate.

He said instead, “Apologies, I’m feeling a bit unwell.”

Xue Ning didn’t utter a sound.

He walked around her, directly going down the stairs.

On the stairs, there was actually a person standing there– Cheng Wei Wei. It was unknown when she had arrived. But Lin Mo Chen ignored her and walked right past her.

But downstairs, the rain was pouring and the road extended in all directions. He already couldn’t see her figure.

Lin Mo Chen massages his temples and takes out his phone from beside him. He scrolls down to her name and gazes at it in the faint light.

Suddenly, the corner of his mouth hooks down.

Once he calls, what should he say?

Say that he was drunk yesterday? Or say that too much emotion had made him impulsive? Or maybe say that it was a man’s hidden little bit of selfishness?

Anxiety like the humidity in the room ferments in his heart. He sits, expressionless, then grabs his phone and smashes it firmly on the ground.

Silence.

A man’s deepest silence.

Vitality, capital, enemies, mother, Xue Ning… … many people and things are flying through his mind. In the end, he once again ends up on her smiling face.

When she first came to Beijing, standing before the cloud filled window, her face smiling at him; on the grass of the marshland, crying as she told him, he had never pushed the door open to see her; her looking up into the sky filled with fireworks and snowflakes, her face red as she smiled… …

Lin Mo Chen suddenly feels his chest hurts a bit. He sits up and gets out of bed, picking his phone up again.

He stands before the window, watching the rain. The thing appearing in the center of his mind, is her standing there last night, the expression on her face as she looked at him.

Those sorrowful, quiet eyes.

She would leave him and go. This idea suddenly clearly pops into his head. He picks up his phone, his face gloomy, and he only sends a single message out.

“Han Xia, come back!”

Come back to my side.

Mu Han Xia picks up her phone. Seeing the message, she slowly puts her phone down.

She lowers her head to drink her coffee, the bitter taste slowly spreading throughout her chest. After a moment, she looks at her watch: 2:50. Bert hasn’t come yet.

She reveals a bitter smile. Sure enough, he still wasn’t coming.

Did he change his mind, or was it actually like what he said yesterday, just him teasing her out of boredom?

But, it wasn’t important anymore.

He already, didn’t need it anymore.

Thinking about this, a sour wetness slowly enters her eyes. But her heart is like a stone in falling into mud, already sunken. There was a numbness, something even she was unable to touch.

She stands up, planning on leaving, but then she sees a familiar figure, pushing the door open and walking in.

Mu Han Xia stares blankly as she watches Cheng Wei Wei directly walk to the seat before her and sit down.

Mu Han Xia doesn’t say a word.

Cheng Wei Wei’s face is as charming as ever, well-dressed, but her face seems to be slightly pale. She raises her hand and orders a cup of coffee then says, “Yesterday at that hotel, I saw them together.”

Mu Han Xia remains silent.

Cheng Wei Wei laughs and says, “I never thought, the one he would belong to in the end wasn’t you or me. He is an overly ambitious man. It turns out, neither of us can make him stay.”

Mu Han Xia guessed that she (CWW) had followed her (MHX) there, but she wasn’t sure if these words of Cheng Wei Wei’s were because she (CWW) felt the same or because she (CWW) was deliberately ridiculing her (MHX) sarcastically. But Mu Han Xia does feel, the dull pain that she deliberately suppressed, once again diffusing into her heart, like a gust of fog.

Mu Han Xia replies, extremely indifferent, “Cheng Wei Wei, whatever’s between him and I, it’s not your business.”

Cheng Wei Wei stares blankly for a moment.

She indeed had followed Mu Han Xia here, just like how she had followed Lin Mo Chen to the hotel last night. She admits that she is a bit out of control, but she indulges herself as she is doing it to vent her emotional turmoil.

The only thing is, Mu Han Xia’s current attitude is out of her expectations. In her memories, the Mu Han Xia at Jiang Cheng in the way beginning, even if her temprament was originally frank and lively, she was also gently and humble. She (CWW) even remembered that day, she (MHX) had slightly stooped as she carried two large bags of drinks as she left. But now, her body no longer had any hint of overcautiousness. Her head raised high, and despite the faint redness in her eyes, they are sharp, her tone indifferent. Unexpectedly, she has a steady, icy, arrogant bearing, making Cheng Wei Wei surprised after seeing it.

Was it Lin Mo Chen, who made her (MHX) change into the person she (MHX) is today?

This realization makes Cheng Wei Wei feel inferior. So, her heart cools and she says neutrally, “Yes, it’s none of my business. But, he is my senior brother, so of course I’ll care about him. Honestly, you don’t need to be like this, you don’t need to feel heart broken. He likes you, maybe he might even still want you to follow him. Xue Ning is a rich young lady, she might not care about your inferior existence by his side. You can still get what you want. I’m different. No matter how you say it, although the Cheng family can’t compare to the Xue family, but I cannot possibly follow him as a little one. I cannot argue with Xue Ning, so I can only give up.”

*-Here, I believe that little one basically means mistress.

She completely thought that these words would make Mu Han Xia even more heartbroken. Who knew that Mu Han Xia only stares at her calmly. After a moment, she suddenly smiles slowly and says, “Cheng Wei Wei, it is you who is the most pathetic.”

“You!” Cheng Wei Wei’s expression becomes even uglier.

However, Mu Han Xia doesn’t plan on continuing to argue with her. She glances at her watch. It’s already 3:10. She can’t wait any longer.

She stands up to leave, not looking back.

Cheng Wei Wei sits where she is, planning on finishing her cup of coffee before leaving.

After a while, a young, impeccably dressed foreigner walks before her and says, “Miss Summer?”

Cheng Wei Wei stares blankly.

The foreigner smiles warmly and uses English as he says, “I apologize, I came late. Did you wait for a long time? It was Mr. Bert who ordered me to come. I am his chief assistant, Jack. I bought an 80 million dollar investment to give to Feng Chen… …” His eyes were slightly wet as he continued, “Mr. Bert, you probably won’t be able to see him again.”

Cheng Wei Wei is silent, not saying a word.

… … Summer?

She has a faint impression, as if that was Mu Han Xia’s English name.

80 million… … American dollars?

She looks up and slowly asks, “What’s going on?”

Not long after Mu Han Xia walked out of the coffee shop, she receives a call from her good friend He Jing.

“Summer, Summer!” He Jing deliberately jokes, calling out the English name that Lin Mo Chen gave her. “What are you doing?”

Mu Han Xia answers very calmly, “Walking.”

He Jing doesn’t immediately percieve her off-balance emotional state. Rather, she rambles on about her own situation: She felt that as a clerk, she had no future, so she resigned. Now, she had taken the savings out and also borrowed some money from her family, and is planning on opening up a shop.

Mu Han Xia walks in the cool rain. Suddenly, her heart warms as she listens. She says, “Yeah, nice. I support you, if you need help, remember to tell me. I’ll do my best to get you some money.”

He Jing sensees that her mood is off and calms down. Quietly, she asks, “A Xia, what happened? Did you meet some sort of difficulty?”

Mu Han Xia wants to say it but hesitates.

Feng Chen’s collapse overnight, the cruelty of the business world, her pain and hate, how should she tell it to this best friend who is still happy and pure?

In the end, she only says warmly, “A Jing, I’m going abroad. Soon.”

He Jing goes “oh” and says, “Have you received an admission notice?”

“No, not yet,” she replies, “but I think I’ll definitely get one.”

Her tone has never been so calm and self-confident before, but listening to her, He Jing’s heart is inexplicably panicking. She hurriedly asks, “A Xia… … You, what happened to you? What’s going on?”

Mu Han Xia is quiet for a moment and says, “No, nothing. I only chose a different path in life.”

He Jing suddenly clasps her hand in front of her mouth and feels pain for her (MHX).

“Then… … what about Lin Mo Chen? What about him?”

After a long time, she finally hears Mu Han Xia’s voice. “I originally thought, I couldn’t bear to part with him.”

“Mr. Bert’s condition is continually worsening,” Jack slowly explains the whole story to Cheng Wei Wei. “Your interactions with him these few days, I believe you must’ve noticed some abnormalities. After all, these few days, he hasn’t interacted with anyone else. He’s said before, this was the so called fate that you Chinese spoke of.”

Cheng Wei Wei slowly drinks her coffee, silent.

“Yesterday night, Mr. Bert’s condition suddenly worsened significantly. He plunged into a deep coma and was hospitalized for emergency treatment. His wife has already forbidden him from wandering around.” Jack reveals a helpless smile and says, “They will fly this afternoon to America to get the best treatment. But according to the doctor, his condition isn’t optimistic. They don’t know whether he will wake up again.”

Cheng Wei Wei says, “I express my deepest regrets.”

Jack smiles and says, “Thank you, Miss Summer. Mr. Bert also told me to tell you, you don’t need to be sad anymore, the storm will pass. The miracle has arrived. Before falling into a coma, Mr. Bert already signed the president’s order. 80 million dollars worth of investment will be transferred to Feng Chen within two days. My colleague should’ve called to notify Feng Chen and Mr. Lin Mo Chen by now to sign an agreement. I was entrusted my Mr. Bert to inform you of the news, because he said it was an agreement between the two of you. Now, let’s go to Feng Chen together, okay?”

However, to Jack’s surprise, the woman before him is silent for a long time.

Then she smiles slightly and says, “Okay, I’ll come with you. But, Mr. Jack, I don’t like unfamiliar people to call me Summer. From now on, still call me by my Chinese name, Cheng Wei Wei.”

Jack is stumped, thinking that Mr. Bert had said before that Summer was an extremely pretty and cute Chinese girl who would wait for him at the third table by the window. But the woman before him, although beautiful, makes people feel like she is a bit harsh and not very cute. However, he thinks, Mr. Bert’s taste has always been a bit outlandish, so he doesn’t think it too strange.

“Okay, Miss Cheng Wei Wei.”
