CHAPTER 3 : A Friendly Fight

Carl stood up holding two daggers with chains attached at the hilt of each one. “Um….Carl what are you using chained daggers for, it can’t be to cut an apple right.” Carl turned and looked at Kelvin with pure murderous intent in his eyes. In a second Carl launched the blades towards Kelvin aiming for his head. Almost on instincts, Kelvin rolled to the side dodging the attack. “Hey, Carl what was that for!!!” He shouted, but ignoring him Carl withdrew the blades and dashed for Kelvin, swinging madly with great skill and speed at Kelvin. The look on Carl’s face was one of hate, which scared Kelvin as he dodged most of his friend’s attacks, though he was quite surprised with the speed, and flexibility of his body. Carl increased the speed of his attack which made the blades to graze Kelvin’s body a few times. “Carl stop, why would you do this” Kelvin asked panting. Carl stopped “why?! Cause I took an oath to kill your kind, to kill demons, and that’s exactly what am going to do!!!” Carl shouted and jumped high shooting the daggers while holding onto the chains. The daggers came really fast but Kelvin grabbed the blades before they could pierce his head. “I don’t know what the hell has come over you and I still don’t understand what you’re saying, but I can’t let you kill me." Kelvin said, turning around with the blades and with Carl still holding the chains, he swung them towards the door that lead back down stairs. Carl was moving straight for the door head first, but using his quick reflex he turned and instead collided with the door using his feet. He used the force of the attack to his advantage and launched himself like a rocket towards Kelvin, aiming for his throat. Carl’s attack was too fast for Kelvin to counter attack or defend. “Shit, is this how I die, being killed by my best friend.” Kelvin thought, it was only a matter of seconds before the dagger would impale his throat, but in that moment, at the last second, Kelvin could feel a strange force from within taking control over his hand, and in an instant his hand moved faster than it had ever done before and shielded his throat, causing the blade to pierce his palm instead of his throat. Kelvin screamed out his lungs due to the immense pain, he felt his palm split in two as the blade moved through the palm of his hand. He tried to hold his ground as Carl slowly approached him but he couldn’t, he fell to his knees while holding his pierced hand which was now flowing uncontrollably with blood. “Why? Tell me why you did this Carl! Answer me!!!!” “I told you before, am only doing my job. Now tell me, any last words demon? ” Carl said, pointing the second dagger at Kelvin. “There you go again with this demon nonsense.” Kelvin said annoyingly. “I told you I don’t understand what you are saying, did you hit your head or something. You were perfectly fine yesterday, so...” “Wait how do you know about what happened yesterday unless, Kelvin are you still in there?” Carl asked as he slowly brings down his blade “What do you mean am right here” Kelvin answered with a confused look on his face. ‘There is a chance that this might be Kelvin.’ Carl thought. ‘But just to be sure.’ “Ok, you might remember what happened yesterday but I need more proof.” Carl said as he brought up the blade. “If you say you are Kelvin, tell me the most embarrassing thing that happened to me back in 5th grade.” Kelvin thought for a while and said, “Oh you mean that time when you accidentally crapped your pants in class.” Carl smiled and lowered his weapon, “I am sorry Kelvin. I guess I owe you an explanation.
