CHAPTER 11 : Demonic Aura

“Concealment of demonic aura is one of the skills powerful blooded demons are able to do. Because of this, they can freely blend in with society without getting caught by demon hunters.” George said.
“The only reason demon hunters haven’t showed up here, is because of a special construct I laid around the antique shop. It would hide your aura until you learn to hide it yourself.”
Kelvin was currently receiving his first training in one of the rooms within the secret corridor.
“Concealing your aura requires a lot of concentration. So I want you to take a deep breath and clear your mind; now I want you to concentrate on the air around you.”
Kelvin sat on the ground with crossed legs. He had his eyes closed, and he took deep breaths while trying to concentrate.
“You should start to feel a different energy in the air around you. When you feel this energy, try to suck it into your body.” George said given a brief illustration of what he meant.
Kelvin was in deep concentration; so it didn’t take him to notice this energy. However sucking the energy into his body was the hard part. He imagined the energy entering his body, which worked for a while but the second he lost focus, the energy would come back out again.
“Staying focused is going to be hard. So you should keep practicing.” George said, leaving Kelvin alone in the room.
Kelvin kept on trying and each time he lost focus, the demonic aura came pouring out. Not wanting to give up, he closed his eyes tighter and kept on trying again, and again, and again, until he lost count of how many times he tried and failed.
“Ok, this is a whole lot harder than I thought and I just can’t seem to get it right. I can feel the energy but I can’t withdraw it into my body.” Kelvin said, as he deeply thought for a solution.
“Wait…. What if I’m going about this the wrong way? George said I have to send this energy into my body and he didn’t say I have to send it directly through my skin; so what if I inhale this energy through my mouth.” Kelvin thought.
With that thought in mind, he practiced this method and after some time the energy around him gradually reduced.
“You’re a fast learner.”
Kelvin was startled. He looked behind him only to see George standing at the door. Kelvin heard him leave but he was too focused that he didn’t hear him return.
“If you keep up this training, you will learn how to hide your aura in no time.”
Kelvin looked at the wall clock and was shocked to see that it was already 1pm in the afternoon.
“Don’t tell me that I’ve been practicing this throughout the morning.”
“Yes you have. Now come on; Carl is here to see you.”
******
Carl was seated quietly in the antique shop; he looked a bit troubled. He was given the task of misleading the demon hunters away from Kelvin, but as things are now he wasn’t sure he could do that anymore. He heard the sound of footsteps and looked up to see Kelvin and George.
“Hey Carl, what’s up.” Kelvin asked.
“I wish I could tell you that things are fine, but things are so not fine. In fact, to be honest, you’re in a really messed up situation right now. I received an update from the demon hunters.”
“What did they say?” George asked.
“The hunter’s council declared Kelvin a wanted demon and said that if any demon hunter is to see him, they should execute him without hesitation. I was able to misdirect the demon hunters when they interrogated me, but I don’t know how long that would last.” Carl said.
“They are scared. A demon that can control blood, spells danger to humanity and the hunter’s council are afraid of that power; so it’s only logical that they want to get rid of it. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect this to happen.” George said.
“So what do we do now?” Kelvin asked; he was feeling a bit disturbed.
“This only means I have to put my plan in motion. Kelvin what would you say if I enrolled you in the Demon Hunting Academy.”
“George you can’t be serious! That place is filled with people who are training and aspiring to kill demons for a living and you want to send Kelvin there!?” Carl asked.
“I’m guessing this is an academy for training demon hunters?”
“Yes Kelvin, but it’s not just an academy. It is also the place where all the high ranking demon hunters studied and gain there divine powers. That place is a dream comes true for junior and amateur demon hunters.” Carl said.
“If this academy is so good why didn’t you go to train in the academy?” Kelvin asked.
“Believe me I tried but they said I had to study under a mentor for one year before I partake in the entrance examination. That leads me to my previous question, why do you want Kelvin to enroll in an academy that is literally going to be filled with demon hunters?”
“The demon hunters are going to track Kelvin down to this place eventually; it’s only a matter of time before they do so. Kelvin enrolling in the academy is what I call hiding in plain sight. No one would be expecting a demon to study in a school meant for demon hunters so this is the perfect opportunity.” George said.
“You might have a good point but there is a lot of risk involved.” Carl said.
“Do not worry; the principal of the academy is in good terms with me. And Carl, you’re also going to be joining Kelvin to enroll. ”
“I don’t like this. Hey, Kelvin do you want to go through with this?” Carl asked.
“It’s not like I have any choice. It’s either there or I sit here wait for the demon hunters to catch up to me.” Kelvin replied.
“Enrolling into the academy highly depends on how fast you will be able to master control over your powers; I believe the entrance exam into the academy begins in a few months time. So we should be ready by then.” George said.
“Alright Kelvin, let’s begin your training montage.”
