Beast Mutation 15 Ch. 13 The sword

Entering the room, he saw his mother sitting down on the bed with her back, laying against the wall behind the front side of the bed.

"Mom, I have completed the exercise and leveled up." Karol said with a cheerful face while looking towards his mother. "Congrats, Karol." She said with a smile while turning her head towards him.

"So, what are your plans after this." She asked as she wanted to know her son's choices. "I am thinking of making some money by being an adventurer." He said with a small voice.

"No, you are not." She instantly denied his decision as she knew the dangers of being an adventurer and how strong the beast becomes at night time.

"Mom, don't worry, I will only hunt the beast near the edge of the forest, and I will not stay in the forest for night time." He said, trying to reason his mother.

"But..." she wanted to deny that as she knew it was still dangerous, but seeing his eyes, she realized that even if she says no, he will do it.

"Okay, I give up, but if you see any danger in the forest, you got to run immediately." She said with a serious face. "Okay, mom, I will do it for sure." He replied with a small smile.

Just as he was about to go out of the room, his mom stopped him and said," I have got something for you, why don't you take it." while pointing towards her drawer with her head.

Hearing that, Karol turned around and walked towards the drawer, and inside it was a sword and some money. "This is some money so you can buy some arms and supplies." She said.

"What about this sword, mom." He said while pointing towards the sword. "That is what your father wanted to gift you when you turn 14." She said with a trace of sadness in her voice.

Hearing that, he once again looks towards the sword and felt an unknown connection with the sword. Picking it up, he thought that he doesn't have enough power to unlock its full potential.

"Thank you, mom." He said while bowing towards her and started to walk away from the room. Seeing his back, Karen hopes that nothing terrible will happen to her son.

Instead of going out of the house, he entered his room and picked up a book, which was a battle technique, 'Triple Slash.' To use it, one needed to be at an intermediate sword mastery level, and Karol was at the level as he was training with the sword since his childhood.

Mastery level is divided into the level of beginner, intermediate, expert, master, Grandmaster, sage, and lastly, ancestor.

The other two books of the gifts were a battle skill for bows which he can't use right now as he doesn't know how to use a bow and the second was a blank book, and when he asked his mother about this, she replied that he would know its contents if he grows stronger. He left those two books in the house and left the room.

Exiting the house, he counted the money he had and realized it was a hefty sum of 40 silver. He thought that before registering in the adventurer's guild, he should buy some armor and a sheath for his sword.

After walking to the center of the town, he saw an armor shop. Entering, he saw an older man standing at the counter. "What do you want kid." He asked, looking towards the Karol.

"Sir, I want a full set of leather armor, a medium-sized leather bag, and a sheath for this sword." He said with respect as the man was older than him.

Seeing his respect towards him, the man decided to give him a good deal.

The man entered inside of his store and got out with the leather armor. "You should try the armor in that area and give me your sword so I can look for its sheath." The man said while pointing towards an area which is covered by the curtains.

Giving the sword to the old man, he entered the area behind the curtain and started to wear the leather armor. After wearing the armor, he exited the area and saw the old man with his sword in a scabbard.

The old man gives the sword to Karol. Karol saw that there was a leather strap connected to the sword, which can be used to hang the sheath on his shoulder. Hanging the sheath, the sword was now on his back. The old man also gave him the leather bag, which was half the height of Karol.

"How much for all of this, sir." He asked, looking towards the old man. "That will be eight silver for all the items." The old man said. Hearing that, Karol takes out eight silver and gave it to the old man.

After giving the money, he started to exit the shop. "Wait, take this too as a gift for your behavior." The old man said, giving him a dagger as he was happy with Karol's behavior.

"Thank you, sir." Karol said, looking towards the old man as he knows that this dagger is about ten copper. He put the dagger in the space of his leather boots and finally exits the shop.
