Allure 22 Chapter twenty one

Earlier...

Maisy

Eric hadn't come down for breakfast. I was slightly concerned.

I had seen him early this morning covered in much. It wasn't every day that happened.

I took a deep breath before knocking on his door. There was no reply but the door half opened against my knuckles.

I could hear someone squirm and it got my attention. I walked in and my shoulders sagged at the horrible sight of Sara and Eric in a carnal position.

A muffled gasp escaped my throat. I couldn't believe this. I felt betrayed and I didn't know why.

They hadn't noticed me as they continued talking. I couldn't figure out or even listen to what they were murmuring.  I was away, somewhere peaceful for my heart to heal.

The sudden wetness of my face snapped me back to reality. I wiped away the getaway teardrop.

Eric wasn't worth it.

I gathered the strength to leave the room, reminding myself that he wasn't mine and that this was his nature.

But his husky voice stopped me. I could feel the desperation in them.

He was begging me to listen, To turn back and ignore what I clearly saw just to listen to him.

I ignored his pleas and banged the door back in place.

For a brief second, I gave him the second chance he wanted. I stayed there waiting and expecting him to burst out of the room for me.

It was a wait I would never forget. Minutes felt like hours. Yet, he never came. I walked back to the door, my bones aching and placed my ear on the door.

"You wanted to be dominated..."

I stepped back. It was unbelievable. He was unrepentant and was a good pretender. The strength I thought I had lost returned, fuelled by hate.

Yes! I hated Eric, I despised him.

My strength got me back to my bedroom. The only place where I didn't have to pretend to myself.

The bed was too comfortable for me to hold on to the pain so I fell to the floor. The cold hard floor was what I need right now.

There was no way, I was going to give that bastard my family inheritance.

"If he thinks I'm trapped with him, he's got it all wrong. In fact, he's the one who's trapped."

Father had gotten his findings done and identified why Eric needed a part of the Quinn inheritance. My grandfather wouldn't give him willingly what he needed so he went on a journey to find me, the last surviving blood. He managed to trap me and brought me here for marriage. I knew the tales already. How much pain and effort he put into his master-plan for it to work. I had kept my head low because I actually thought he was doing it with good intentions even if it almost ruined me. But now... Now my eyes were open. There was no way I was going to pretend I didn't see the nasty scar, I was going to become one.

Eric

I stopped at the last moment.

What was I doing?

I pulled up my pants and scampered for the door.

"Where you going?" Sara yelled, agitated.

I turned back for a sec,

"Get out of here before I return," I warned and exited the room.

I got dressed whilst running, rushing to get to Maisy if I still had an opportunity.

My blackouts were becoming a cause for concern. My wolf was beginning to gain more control over my mind, my sanity.

I knocked on Maisy's door. It was quiet in there.

"Maisy, Can we talk?"

The door opened slowly and Maisy peeked out. Her pout lips gave me the butterflies.

"I hardly think there is something for us to talk about." She piped.

"No, there is. I just want to tell you whatever you saw in there wasn't what you thought..."

"You know something, Eric? I don't care. I don't care what you do with your life. This! is a compromise and will be ending soon then you can do whatever you want."

"No. You need to stop fighting Maisy. I—know what I saw." I insisted.

She gave a mock laughter but it was hollow, just for show. She was trying to prove something.

"What did you see Eric? Tell me?"

"You were angry, You were hurt. You don't have to pretend." I said softly.

She stared at me, unsure of how to react as we made eye contact but then the chestnut browns flared.

"So you think I'm obsessed with you. Get a life, Clarke."

She had never called me by the family name. She was keeping her walls up.

"So you feel nothing for me at all?"

"The sooner that sticks in, the better."

"But I remember you were the same person who pecked me right here," I said, pointing to the part her prickly lips touched last night.

"That was a mistake. Not the first since I've met you."

Harsh!

"But you know what a mistake you repeatedly make is right?"

Her perfect reply was slamming the door right in my face. It missed my face by a hair.

Drama queen.

"It seems Reece orders are bound to come true," I said to Anthony when I stepped into his Chambers.

"Good."

"Really?" I raised an eyebrow.

"What do you expect me to say, Eric? You know if we don't get rid of her soon, Reece will."

"Because he hasn't been challenged." I put in.

Anthony stopped and made eye contact.

"I hope you aren't having any ideas about a revolt."

" What! I was just saying. I have enough on my plates already."

I understand why Reece was so against Maisy being here. She was a living threat to the safety of the people. It was a hard choice for him but he just lacked humanity, the one that made you weak. Since he didn't relate to the world, it was bound to happen.

"So, why exactly are you here?" My brother asked knowing me well.

"Can't I just come just to open my heart to you. Does there have to be a reason?"

"For a Clarke, there is always a reason and there is no need to lie Eric."

"Okay. I know you're going to hate this but it's the truth... I don't want Maisy to go."

Anthony walked up to me and put his hands on my shoulders. His stunning blue eyes examining me. I could see them searching my soul.

"I've noticed." He stated.

"Is that all? You won't tell me what next step I have to take?"

Anthony nodded,

"I won't Eric. I know enough of how listening to others can ruin you. You are your own man. You can make your choice."

I bit hard on my lower lip. This was going to be harder than I thought. If Anthony had pushed away my madness, I would have obeyed without question or tried to.

"I want her to stay. I want to defy Reece for her sake." I said aloud.

"Why would you do that? You'll get you and her in big trouble."

Now, he was doing it.

"I don't know Anthony but every time I stare into her eyes, glance at her body. I just..."

"Do you actually love Maisy or is just because she looks like Tatia?" Anthony interrupted.

I looked at Anthony unable to answer his question. It was considerate to know why I wanted Maisy to stay but there wasn't any valid reason. I couldn't open up to Anthony as to why I wanted Maisy close. It would be easy to say that It was because of hee looks but I knew it was something else.

Seeing Maisy in a hurt state had broken my wolf's hold over me. I hated seeing her in pain and a part of me enjoyed seeing her smile. There wasn't much of that since she was with me but I still didn't want her to leave.

I had felt this before and I had promised myself that I wouldn't feel it again, For Tatia's sake.

I was breaking that promise.
