Allure 19 Chapter eighteen

Eric

After the drama outside with Spencer. I needed some well-deserved rest. There was a pack meeting after all.

I laid in bed, heartache all over. The only image my mind could conjure was Maisy. Her beautiful brown eyes and rosy red cheeks.

"You need to stop!" I almost yelled out.

My wolf sent me a fuzzy feeling, it felt like mischief. It was a bum I couldn't take the suppressing pills at this time of the month. The full moon was getting closer each passing day and using them might have adverse effects like killing my wolf which would be my death or giving it total control over my body.

This was the precious moment my wolf used against me to make me do it's bidding and during these times, I was its slave.

A knock on the door jolted me back to reality. I got to my feet and went for the door.

"Who's there?"

"Maisy." The voice replied.

Another fuzzy feeling ran through my spine. My wolf bounced around hearing her voice. This was a deadly for her...and me!

Flashes of the escapade with Sara flashed in my head. Her moans, her touch...

"Shut up!" I spat to the vile creature I shared a body with.

"What do you want?" I quizzed, tapping my fingers on the moist door to keep my attention on anything but her voice.

"Can we talk?" She retorted.

It would be nice If I didn't have something to lose or we rather. There was nothing in the world that would make me open that door.

"Are you sure?" My wolf teased.

"I'm naked." I blurted out to Maisy.

I could hear her giggle from outside.

"It's okay if you don't want to talk." She said.

She thought I was avoiding her?

Technically, I was and Is was a great idea to just let her assume that and leave me alone but I had ego problems and with an active wolf, This was a recipe for disaster.

"No! wait, I just put a robe on."

I opened the door slowly, singing to my head that it was only for a moment and how controlled I needed to be if I didn't want to look back and regret this day for the rest of my life.

"Hey." I awkwardly greeted when the door fully opened.

She gave me a smooth beam and stepped in.

"Look at what she's wearing."

I regretted obeying my wolf. Maisy was dressed in a cream silk gown that covered what needed to be covered or so I had hoped. The cloth was moist with most probably sweat and now stuck unto her small body. I could see her erect nipples without even batting an eye.

How close she was and yet I couldn't touch with killing me—us.

My wolf continued speaking words of sin into my ears, little devil it was but I diverted my attention to other things, From paperwork's to Maisy, back to how hard I was and back to Maisy.

This was a losing game.

"What do you want?" I asked as polite as I could be despite the battle of sides I was fighting internally.

"I...wanted to thank you about tonight..."

"It's no biggie." I cut in. My wolf was beginning to take over, That meant Maisy had to go.

"Are you okay?" She quizzed, placing her hand on my head unwittingly.

I shivered from her touch. I felt tingling sensation everywhere just from her touch. If I had my way, I would slam her to the wall and take her right there but I made a promise and I Eric did not break promises.

"I'm okay." I brushed off her hand.

She got the message and kept her hands to herself.

"I just wanted to say...it's a nice thing coming from you. Thank you."

Without probing, she headed for the door. I couldn't blame her, I was acting pretty weird.

"Goodnight." She mumbled.

"Wait!" I stopped her by holding her free hands.

She faced me and I saw her swallow.

"Yes?" She breathed.

I heard her heartbeat faster and her breathing lagged.

"You're doing something to her. This is your chance, make a move." My wolf continued with it's messed up pieces of advice. It definitely fitted the role of 'devil on the shoulder'. Problem was where's the angel?

"You wanted to say something¿," Maisy said, confused as to why I remained silent.

"Do something. Can't you see she wants something to happen?"

This was nothing but torture. Why did I even stop her? If I was even the one.

"I just wanted to thank you..."

"For what?" Maisy scrutinized me.

I had disappointed two, Not bad for a night. My wolf punished me, attacking a rib. I took deep breaths since I couldn't shout out in pain.

"For believing in me. After everything I've done. Thank you."

Maisy held my hands and peered into my eyes. Considering all we had been through a couple of days ago, I doubted we would even rub hands but the odds were...odd.

"It's okay."

She suddenly dropped my hands, like she had made a mistake.

"Sorry..." She expressed, looking confused.

"It's okay," I assured but the truth was it wasn't. I knew there was this attraction we had for each other but it was a line none of us was willing to cross but that didn't stop my wolf from cursing me for ruining his opportunity.

"Ok. Goodnight." Maisy said in a hurried manner and gave me a chaste kiss before walking out.

She circled back, an afterthought for what she just did.

I placed a finger on the spot her lips touched earlier. It was hard to decipher if this was real or just a daydream.

Maisy just kissed me and It felt good.

I just stood there, mesmerized with hands-on my cheek while Maisy stared on. Her face was readable. I could picture the surprise.

It wasn't her. It was the string that bonded us. Maisy loved me and it would be a lie if I said I didn't feel the same but Maisy was fire and I wasn't ready to burn.

The hollow sound the forest sent to me was unsettling. It wasn't meant to be so since I was a part of nature but It didn't. I felt chills down to my spine but thankfully the bonfire lighted gave me the warmth I badly craved.

We were five in number. Anthony and three-pack members I didn't relate with, especially Conrad. He stood there, eyes watching the flickering flame.

"Brother, is anything wrong?" He said in a tone he was fond of using when he taunted me.

I ignored him and waited for the arrival of Reece.

The forest went colder than it was before. Almost like great evil has come into her midst.

Ember's eyes appeared in the shadows and Reece approached our midst still in his wolf form. His transformation began immediately. His bones shifted in ways that would make you lose what you managed to keep in. I closed my eyes and waited for his grunts of pain to be over before opening them.

Reece grabbed a thick blanket from a pack member, clothing himself in the wooly material before staring back at his betas.

Reece brushed back his blonde hair into the blanket that Gabe him a more domineering look. He was very young but looked over forty. He was far older than me but Rival packs had older Alphas.

He grazed his fingers on his chin, they were in bad need of shaving but knowing who Reece was, It would be a waste of time to suggest that.

He itched his pale white skin and stared at me with those sinister blue orbs begore speaking.

"Brothers, we have come together again to celebrate the festival of Nights. As we always do. We mingle with other packs. Do with their women what the moon goddess desires." Reece stated in his baritone voice.

"But I doubt that will be possible this time. News has reached me about the return of the chimera."

All eyes turned on me as this was said. Anthony sent me a knowing look.

"It happened before and it's happening again Your Majesty, let the girl go before you kill us off," Reece said.

I took a deep breath to cope with how messed up this was. For a second, I thought this was one of Conrad's elaborate plan but Reece wasn't someone to take sides and definitely not from his beta.

"Your grace, The girl I assure you is human. She is nothing like her sister." I assured Reece.

"Wrong!" Reece snapped back.

"Tell me why the chimera is back then! She's a dead walker and she has to go!"

Despite the disrespect, I had gotten used to it. I was king to the humans but nothing but an ordinary beta in my pack.

Maisy being a whisperer... How did she survive all these years?
