A War Between Spies Chapter 57

Yang Yi didn't have to wait for long. Just when he was about to start eating, a Black man came and sat next to him.

"Hi dude. I'm Buddy."

Buddy had a very pleasing baby face. Since he wasn't tall, but very chubby and had a very friendly face, he gave off a very friendly vibe.

Yang Yi knew he was the man who would know everything about the prison. It was the kind of role that always appeared in every prison movie. In reality, the role did exist. It was natural that someone would step in to assume the role since there was a market for it.

"Hi Buddy. I'm Benjamin. Nice to meet you."

Yang Yi gave a brief introduction but it somehow ended up stunning Buddy. Thus, Yang Yi could only ask, "What's up dude. Is there a problem?"

Buddy asked in surprise, "You have a British accent. Are you British?"

Yang Yi hesitated for a moment before nodding, "I lived in England for quite some time."

Buddy excitedly asked, "Can you repeat what you just said. Is that a London accent? It's really sexy."

Yang Yi frowned. He didn't think there was anything sexy about his accent. It was too bad that his British accent was too heavy at this point. There was no way for him to imitate the American accent especially slang which he didn't even understand. This could possibly pose a problem.

"Bro! Can you say something else?"

Buddy's fervor could be seen if just by looking at his eyes. Yang Yi coughed lightly and used a tone he felt would be more normal, "Hi bro! It's nice to meet you."

Buddy had upgraded Yang Yi's status from dude to bro. He became excited the moment he heard Yang Yi's accent. He couldn't stop slapping his thigh. He laughed, "Haha! Is this the real British accent? My cousin must have gone to a fake London. His didn't sound like a London accent at all."

Yang Yi forced a smile, "There are actually a lot of differences in London accents. The Eastern and Western district accent is not similar, at all. It's actually quite complicated. Anyway, what do you actually want to talk about?"

Buddy nodded and pointed at Yang Yi. He softly said, "You have a problem."

"Yes, I do have a problem."

Buddy picked up his bread and took a bite. He then smiled, "There are several newcomers that arrived today. So, I won't waste too much time with you. I'm here to tell you what I can get you. I have cigarettes and lighters. These are items the prison shop doesn't sell. You can also look for me if you need any information. Even if you have a big problem, I can also help you resolve it. After finishing what he had to say, Buddy stood up obviously planning to leave. Yang Yi hurriedly said, "Wait! That's it?"

"Is there anything else?"

"How can I solve the problem that I have?"

So, the one taking the meat was just a sidekick. The real boss was the one sitting at the table glaring at him. The Black man actually smiled when their eyes met.

Yang Yi subconsciously smiled back at him. It was an instinctive response but he immediately saw the Black man make a throat slitting gesture.

Yang Yi turned back around and softly asked, "So, he's the Boxing King?"

"Yup, he is the Boxing King. He's a very powerful boxer. Bro, there are some common sense things you need to be aware of in this prison. Don't mess with the Boxing King's gang and the Big Old Brother gang. Those are the two African-Americans gangs here. The Poison Fangs are Latino drug dealers. There is also the Hell's Disciples. There aren't many of them but they are very powerful. You can recognize them by the skulls tattooed on their bodies."

Yang Yi said with a frown, "So, the one I have offended is the Boxing King. Is there anything I can do to resolve this problem? Also, is there anyone I can mess with here?"

Buddy chuckled and shook his head, "Bro, the people here, most of them, belong to a gang. If you're talking about those who didn't join a gang, Chris here is one of them. Nonetheless, you better not mess with him. He will just stab you with a knife."

Yang Yi let out a breath and helplessly said, "Okay. That means I shouldn't mess with anyone."

"Not necessarily. You can kick the ass of those dregs of society. For instance, those who ended up here due to rape. So, what are you in here for? How long is your sentence?

"Aggravated assault. Five years."

"Oh, that's not too bad. That's it bro. I can't linger here for too long. There are still others who want to talk to you. Find me if you need anything. My price is fair."

Buddy was about to leave again and Yang Yi hurriedly asked, "Wait, who wants to talk to me?"

Buddy smiled and shrugged, "Anyone interested in you will come over. Good luck, bro."

Buddy left hastily. After letting out a sigh, Yang Yi continued to eat his meal.

Yang Yi didn't expect Chris to help him but at the very least, he was hoping Chris would explain to him what was going to happen. Unfortunately, his cellmate didn't want to get involved and he didn't have any intention to say a word.

Yang Yi gave up the idea of asking for any information from Chris. He would have to ask Buddy instead. Coincidentally at that moment, Chris suddenly said, "I will give you a bit of advice. Don't join a gang, you will never be able to get rid of them for the rest of your life."

Yang Yi froze for a moment before asking, "Why? Join what gang?"

"Aggravated assault. Five years."

The Latino man calmly said, "The Boxing King wants to kill you. If you don't want to die, you will have to join the Fangs. We will protect you. Of course, you will first have to pass a test."

Yang Yi finally understood what the advice Chris had given him was about. So, he turned to look at the Boxing King again. Although the Boxing King wanted to do something, he wouldn't have planned murder. He was in prison after all. It would just add more time to his sentence if he caused someone serious injury.

There was something else Yang Yi realized when he turned to look back. There was a young Black man sitting next to the Boxing King. It was one of the newcomers who had come on the same bus with him today.

Since there was a test if one wanted to join the Poison Fangs' gang, there was most likely a test if one wanted to join the Boxing King's gang.

Yang Yi sighed. It appeared that he had become the test for the young Black man.
