A War Between Spies Chapter 50

Although Danny looked serious, Yang Yi couldn't help asking, "Are you serious? I'm going to a university? And it's one where you can learn to become a spy?"

Danny nodded, "That's right. Do I look like I'm joking with you? I came up to look for you just so I can ask if you are willing to study at this university."

Yang Yi replied without hesitation, "Of course, I am willing!"

Danny's laugh sounded strange. He asked in a rather grave tone, "What if the university is very dangerous? You might lose your life if you go there."

"What kind of university could lead to your death? A military academy? Or is it a school that trains spies?"

Danny shrugged, "It's definitely not a military academy. Hey are you still willing to study there?"

"How dangerous is it?"

After giving it some thought, Danny answered, "Death is not exactly common. However, there are still a few deaths each year. Most of those deaths have been covered up."

"How many students are enrolled in this university?"

"There are about two thousand freshman students and another thousand senior year students. I am not sure of the exact figure but it shouldn't be too far from my estimations."

"It's not exactly dangerous. The mortality rate is less than a percent."

"You can put it that way but the probability of injury is very high. It can also be said that injury is unavoidable. The injuries could be a result of being assaulted by others or due to punishment. Moreover, you might even lose your life if you aren't careful."

Kate couldn't help but ask, "What type of place is this? Is there such a university in England? Is it a school established by MI6? If so, how could he enter such a place?"

Danny shook his head, "It's not in England."

"It's not in England? Then, where is it? Regardless of which country's espionage school it is, it's not easy to enroll. You are either teasing him or lying."

Kate was quite irritated. Danny indifferently replied, "I will need to keep it a secret for the time being. But I can promise that he will enter as a rookie and emerge as an elite. The duration will most likely be around three to four years. On the other hand, your learning aptitude is very high. So, you might be able to complete it in two years. You will have to decide whether you want to extend your studies or not once you're there."

Yang Yi rubbed his chin and nodded, "It sounds good. I definitely want to go if it's true."

Kate exclaimed, "You have no information at all! You don't even know where the university is?!"

Yang Yi laughed, "I trust the captain. Captain, who is your friend? Are you sure he can teach me?"

Danny nodded, "This friend of mine is very capable. However, I can't reveal anything about the school before you decide to study with him. I can't reveal too much because his identity needs to be kept confidential. I can only tell you the school is in America."

Yang Yi was somewhat surprised, "America?"

"Yes, it's in America. I need to remind you again the university is dangerous. It's very dangerous. You might lose your life if you go there. On a positive note, you will gain the sense of urgency you are currently lacking. Trust me, you will train hard without even being supervised when you are there."

Yang Yi's eyes brightened, "This arrangement is good. So what if it's dangerous. I'm not afraid of any danger since I have chosen to embark on this path. Don't forget that the Destroyers are still waiting for an opportunity to kill me."

Kate immediately said, "I want to go too! Can I go with him?"

Danny looked at Kate and shook his head, "I'm sorry. They only accept male students."

Kate bit her lip and glared at Danny. Danny uncomfortably shifted his shoulders and said, "Don't look at me like that. I'm not trying to harm you. You need to understand he can't afford to grow slowly. He will die if he makes a single mistake. The Destroyers won't allow him to continuously make mistakes and develop. The only solution I can think of is to send him to my friend's school to receive his tutelage."

Yang Yi looked at Kate and said tenderly, "I can't miss out on this opportunity. Kate, you stay here to recover for the time being. The captain will protect you. Wait for me to come back. Don't you want revenge? Don't you want to eliminate the Destroyers? We might not have the capability to do so now but we can definitely do it when I return."

Kate took a deep breath and softly asked, "Doesn't that mean that I will have to stay here? I don't want to stay in this building and wait for your return."

Yang Yi solemnly said, "If given a choice, I wouldn't choose to be a spy. Kate, our main goal is to survive. We can't be willful."

Kate was helpless. She finally nodded and glumly said, "I will wait for your return then!"

Danny suddenly said, "Speaking of which, Kate, your parents can be buried in two days' time. Unfortunately, you won't be able to attend their funeral since it will pose a significant danger to your life if you leave here. My sincere condolences."

Kate's expression paled. She quietly asked, "I can't go?"

"You can't. I would like to ask where you would want them buried. I suggest you buy a permanent plot of burial ground. It's more expensive but I'm sure you can afford it. I can help you find a funeral director. Rest assured, they will get a very good funeral."

Kate bit her lip and murmured after some time, "I haven't thought about it yet. So, I am not sure. What about Highgate Cemetery?"

Danny shrugged, "The burial ground in Highgate Cemetery is quite congested. The price will be very expensive. I suggest you go with Aldersbrook Cemetery. Ultimately, the final decision is still yours."

Kate answered without hesitation, "I want it to be in Highgate Cemetery. The price is not a concern."

"Sure. What's left is your father's estate. I suggest you sell it. You can hire a lawyer to come here to take care of the legalities."

"I don't want to sell it."

"You can't keep it! I strongly recommend you sell it. You need to say goodbye to your past. Kate, you must never return to your old home if you don't want to die."

Kate nodded with a sigh, "Okay, I will do as you say. But you must place flowers on my parent's graves on my behalf. Please tell them I am doing fine. Thank you."

Kate managed not to cry. Danny stood up while sighing, "Sure, I will do as you ask."

After that, Yang Yi looked at Danny who said, "I am leaving now. You should consider this carefully. There is no need for you to decide so quickly. I will give you a night to think about it.
