A War Between Spies Chapter 100

After training with Zhang Yong for more than three months, Yang Yi started to receive sparring lessons as well from Zhang Yong.

Although Yang Yi still lacked strength and experience, the fact that Yang Yi could even start sparring with him at this point greatly exceeded Zhang Yong's expectations.

They were sparring at a very fast pace. Yang Yi was blocking with both of his arms as he dodged with precision. In the process of retreating, he even managed to execute two kicks. Even still, Yang Yi was still unable to stop the storm of attacks coming at him.

Finally, he felt a sharp pain in his chest after being hit. He grunted in pain and cried out, "Singing Spring Fist! Didn't you say you were only going to use Short Boxing?"

Zhang Yong pulled back his fist as he disdainfully asked, "Should I apologize then?"

"No..."

Zhang Yong's punch was extremely powerful. Although they were just sparring and Zhang Yong had withheld most of his strength, Yang Yi still couldn't take a hit because of the speed they were sparring at.

After rubbing his chest for some time, Yang Yi stood up and spoke to Zhang Yong. "Brother Yong, can you not use Singing Spring Fist?"

Zhang Yong just nodded before he said, "Let's continue."

Yang Yi charged towards Zhang Yong and launched a Shape and Intention Boxing cannon punch at him. However, the punch was just a feint. Midway through the motion, his left hand grabbed at Zhang Yong instead. His right hand followed up with a punch aimed at Zhang Yong's throat.

"Release!"

Zhang Yong said lightly and before Yang Yi could even land a hit, he had already suffered from a punch that was aimed at his stomach. Yang Yi attempted to retreat backward but Zhang Yong had already grabbed the hand Yang Yi had wanted to use to grab him. Zhang Yong then used his right hand to tap Yang Yi's throat.

Zhang Yong's original punch was meant to be powerful but he replaced it with a light tap because he had no intention of killing Yang Yi.

Although Yang Yi was now sparring with Zhang Yong, as per Zhang Yong's claim, it was still a few years too early for Yang Yi to even hold his own ground against him.

"Stop." Zhang Yong commanded. He then sternly said, "Do you know what you did wrong this time around?"

"Aren't I punching with Shape and Intention Boxing style?"

"No, you're not."

"How should I execute it then?"

Zhang Yong sighed as he answered, "I am slightly faster than you, slightly more accurate than you and slightly more ruthless than you. Although it is just slightly, you'll never be able to hurt me with this slight advantage. Nonetheless, where you are can already be considered quite good since you have just started. However, do you know what your biggest problem is? You just copy directly whatever moves I teach you. I taught you how to punch straight, you punch straight. I taught you to launch a hook, you launch a hook. I'm 1.7 meters tall. If your opponent is 1.8 meters tall, how are you going to be able to hit him?"

Yang Yi just shrugged it off, "Ah, that's because I have a good memory."

Zhang Yong just waved his hand as he said, "You should first correct that bad habit of yours."

"How do I correct it?"

Zhang Yong looked troubled, "This is the first time I've felt that someone having a good memory can also be troublesome." After he said that, he sat on his own bed and stared at Yang Yi for a very long time before he finally said, "You've been practicing for three months now, right?"

"If you're talking about martial arts training, it has been three months and four days now."

Although Yang Yi was much stronger now, his muscles weren't exactly showing. His arms were just slightly thicker but he had managed to gain an eight-pack. He had also gained ten extra kilograms.

Yang Yi had been practicing martial arts for three months now. If you included the time he was training up his physicality, it would be four months. It was quite a remarkable feat that Yang Yi had reached this point in just four months.

Zhang Yong just looked at Yang Yi for a very long time before he finally nodded, "It's remarkable you managed to reach this stage in three months. If I hadn't been the one personally teaching you, I wouldn't have believed it was possible."

Yang Yi couldn't help laughing as he said, "That's because you have been a very competent teacher."

Zhang Yong sighed before he said, "Given your current strength, you shouldn't have any issues dealing with any of the inmates out there. In fact, you should be able to handle eight or ten of them just fine. Of course, that's provided there aren't any professional hitmen among them. You'll be dead if you met any of them."

Yang Yi frowned because he wasn't convinced, "Why would you say that?"

Zhang Yong just sighed again before he answered. "Let's not talk about professional hitmen, even the extremely vicious inmates out there might also be able to kill you. Do you believe me? They might not be able to defeat you, but it's very possible for them to kill you."

Yang Yi mulled over the information before he finally nodded, "That's absolutely possible."

Zhang Yong just waved it off as he said, "Now that you understand, go out there and pick a fight."

"Huh? What do you mean by that?"

Zhang Yong just bitterly smiled as he said, "Have you been able to eat your fill in here?"

"I have never been full. Let me tell you this, I could easily train for another two hours each day if I could eat my fill."

Zhang Yong nodded, "I am well aware that professional boxers or fighters train for six hours a day. I've even met some who train for more than eight hours. Given your current physical condition, you can at most train your physical fitness and martial arts two hours each day. Your training stamina is quite low, to be frank. It would be different if you had enough to eat though…"

Zhan Yong just looked at Yang Yi and chuckled before he continued, "So, why don't you go extort food from the other inmates? Honestly, I thought you would have done this two months ago. I'm quite surprised you haven't even thought of doing so until today. Didn't you tell me your conflict with the Boxing King started because of food? If the Boxing King had been extorting food then why aren't you doing the same thing now?"

Yang Yi's eyes were showing signs of disbelief as he said, "Isn't that a bad idea?"

Zhang Yong just laughed as he said, "What's so bad about it? This is a prison where the most vicious criminals are held. What's so embarrassing about extorting food from them? Just go and take their food and beat up anyone who complains. You can even conveniently practice your fighting skills. Just be careful so that you don't end up killing anyone."

Yang Yi just swallowed his. He had never been a horrible person and thus he had never extorted anything from anyone before. Moreover, he had never even considered committing such a deed. Although the act of extorting someone else's food was rather repulsive, Yang Yi finally nodded after some hesitation and consideration of what Zhang Yong had told him.

"Sure! I will go extort food this afternoon. The only question that remains is who I should target.

Zhang Yong just shrugged as he said, "You should exclude people who we're familiar with. It's too embarrassing to extort them. So, go extort the food of the inmates we're not familiar with instead. Also, solve any conflicts you cause yourself. Don't expect me to clean up your mess. I won't intervene even if you're about to be stabbed to death right in front of me. Understand?"

Yang Yi answered confidently, "Understood! Rest assured, I wouldn't be worth anything if I still can't defeat my opponents."

Zhang Yong started laughing as he replied, "Sure. Do put some effort into it. Don't end up being all frail because you don't have enough to eat."

Yang Yi just clenched his hands as he said, "I will first have to figure out who I should pick a fight with. Oh yeah, there was a fella who's been an eyesore for a long time now. I'm going to teach him a lesson today."
