Even though Uncle Ye did not approve of such an action that lacked foresight, he still felt touched by the other party's love for the city.

Now that he realised that it was all a lie, coupled with the fact that Lu Tianzi was now plotting against the City Lord whom Uncle Ye and his family had always respected, the rage that erupted within him was naturally multiple times that of others'.

Realising that he had actually allowed himself to be stupidly used by Lu Tianzi, how could Uncle Ye not explode out of anger?

"To think that you are such a person, we must be blind to have let you into our house!" Ye Xiangyuan stepped out from behind her father and stomped over towards Lu Tianzi.

The crisp sound resounded throughout the silent main square as Ye Xiangyuan slapped Lu Tianzi across the face.

This slap might have taken all of Ye Xiangyuan's strength, but she was but a mortal after all. Any other Essence Condensation realm martial artist would only itch from such an assault.

However, Lu Tianzi felt a searing pain because of that slap.

Only that he did not feel the pain across his face where Ye Xiangyuan had just slapped, but in his heart where it felt like it was being wrenched apart.

What hurt him the most was the fact that the people whom he had treated as his own family were actually the ones shaming him publicly in front of the rest of the citizens.

Such a feeling was even worse than what Lu Tianzi felt when he first realised he had been betrayed by Hu Yuanbo!

Was this what he wanted Hu Yuanbo to experience?

Lu Tianzi looked past Ye Xiangyuan to scan the crowds.

Perhaps other than the children, every person in the main square seemed to be looking upon him with disdain, almost as if they were ashamed that a person like him used to be one of them.

No, even the children seemed to be glaring at him with enmity.

Uncle Ye was the same, Ye Xiangyuan was the same, Instructor Nie, the four District Heads, and even the much weakened Hu Yuanbo seemed to be looking down on him right now.

Not a single person placed him in their eyes.

"All right, I believe that should be enough," Rui Xucheng grinned as he spoke from the side.

Rui Xucheng never expected Instructor Nie and Uncle Ye's family to suddenly step forward as though volunteering to give cause to his speech.

It was a good show, but this show had still dragged on for too long.

It was about time for everything to end.

"Execute him!" Rui Xucheng turned his back and walked away as a few guards stepped forward with their blades drawn.

In his current state, Lu Tianzi knew that there was no longer a way for him to escape.

Yet how would Lu Tianzi be willing to have his life snuffed out in such a manner?

A cold light flashed across Lu Tianzi's eyes as he took a quick glance at Hu Yuanbo. The Lord of Ivory Rock City was standing weakly by the side, obviously yet to have recovered his strength.

In his current state, Hu Yuanbo seemed to be even weaker than a mere mortal.

Now was Lu Tianzi's chance!

If he really had to die today, then Lu Tianzi had to make sure that he at least took Hu Yuanbo down with him!

Driving the Spiritual and Slaughter Essence within his body, Lu Tianzi sent all of his remaining energy into the broken sword in his right hand.

Even if the blade had been shattered into pieces, the small blade that remained attached to the hilt should suffice to kill Hu Yuanbo, especially when he had already been so drastically weakened!

"This guy!" Rui Xucheng turned back to look at Lu Tianzi in horror.

"You still have the strength to fight back?" Cui Yuanping frowned.

"No, he is targeting City Lord Hu!" Wen Ping was the first to realise the direction of Lu Tianzi's gaze as he yelled out in warning.

"Stop him!" Rui Xucheng yelled out in panic.

As though treating Rui Xucheng's yell as a trigger, Lu Tianzi raised his broken sword and aimed it right at the horrified Hu Yuanbo.

"You…!" Hu Yuanbo coughed out in agitation.

Despite possessing the highest cultivation realm in the city, at this very moment, he was like a bird without wings, completely helpless against Lu Tianzi's incoming attack!

Hu Yuanbo did not even have the strength to try and avoid it. All he could do was pray that help would arrive before Lu Tianzi's blade did!

Prior to this, the four District Heads had relaxed after believing that they had gotten the situation under control. Thus, they had even left Hu Yuanbo to himself while they watched the show play out between Lu Tianzi and his acquaintances.

And this complacency resulted in an opening that Lu Tianzi was not going to leave unpunished!

Even though they were desperately rushing back to his side right now, it was clear that at this rate, none of them were going to make it back in time!

Yet just as Lu Tianzi was about to throw out the broken sword in his hand, a figure suddenly darted forward to stand between him and Hu Yuanbo.

Ye Xiangyuan, who was closest to him at the moment, had actually managed to read Lu Tianzi's intentions just by her keen observation!

She was no martial artist, and thus was unable to detect the faint killing intent from before.

However, this past month of living together with Lu Tianzi had allowed her to learn to read his habits, such that she was even able to tell that Lu Tianzi was planning something.

This actually allowed her to react faster than the martial artists on the main square, moving to block her beloved City Lord Hu from Lu Tianzi's view!

With all the energy that Lu Tianzi had packed into the broken sword, it could have easily blasted straight through Ye Xiangyuan's fragile body and carried on towards Hu Yuanbo without losing much power.

However, despite Ye Xiangyuan's earlier actions towards him, Lu Tianzi's mind was still unable to register Ye Xiangyuan as an enemy.

Lu Tianzi's hand froze for a moment when he saw Ye Xiangyuan replace Hu Yuanbo's figure in his cross hairs, and this mere moment was all that the four District Heads needed.

Rui Xucheng and Wen Ping arrived beside Hu Yuanbo at the same time, while Cui Yuanping slashed down towards Lu Tianzi with a mighty sabre!

Though Lu Tianzi did not manage to follow through in the end, the mere act of throwing the broken sword had already sapped all the energy from within Lu Tianzi.

There was simply no way left for him to block the incoming sabre.

Lu Tianzi spat out another mouthful of blood as a diagonal line was carved across his torso, with blood splattering out and staining the sabre red.

At this point, apart from the area above his nose, Lu Tianzi was already completely drenched in blood.

This blood-red figure finally lost his strength and fell backwards, his back slamming against the hard floor of the main square.

Lu Tianzi's vacant eyes stared up at the vast blue sky that stretched out endlessly above, his heart full of infinite indignation that was just as endless as the skies.

He had failed to take down Hu Yuanbo, and it was actually because of Ye Xiangyuan!

In the end, the bonds between him and Uncle Ye's family were not at all like what he imagined.

These ties seemed strong during good times, but in times of woe, they broke just as quickly as it was forged.

Lu Tianzi had lived the most of his life striving for strength so as to aid humanity in its journey out of the darkness. Yet his life was going to end prematurely due to the misdeeds of these very people whom he had sworn to protect.

"You crazy bastard!" Cui Yuanping cursed before turning around to confirm that City Lord Hu was still all right.

"Stop wasting time and end it. Are you not capable of learning from what just happened?" City Lord Hu ordered while still trying to catch his breath.

Hu Yuanbo was desperately trying to calm himself down. After all, he almost died just a moment ago!

If Lu Tianzi had followed through with the attack despite the interference, then even though Ye Xiangyuan would have died, Hu Yuanbo would probably have followed right after her!

Considering that, how could he not be anxious to end Lu Tianzi's life with absolute certainty?

"Understood!" Cui Yuanping turned back towards Lu Tianzi with his sabre raised high.

At this critical moment, Lu Tianzi suddenly felt a tingling sensation within his inner world. This was the stirring of a wave of foreign energy that was completely beyond Lu Tianzi's control!

Yet despite it being a foreign wave of energy, Lu Tianzi could not help but think that it felt slightly familiar. Still, he just could not recall where he last felt this familiar sensation.

But regardless of what it was, Lu Tianzi was able to tell that the power behind this familiar energy far surpassed his own!

This wave of energy shot out rapidly from Lu Tianzi's inner world, quickly forming into hundreds of illusory runes that hovered in the air around him. These illusory runes only appeared for a split second before they further intertwined into two runic formations of light, one above and one below him.

"What is that?" Cui Yuanping took a step back in hesitation, unable to comprehend what was happening.

The sudden appearance of the runic formation was something that he had never seen before in his life!

"If I am not wrong, that is a spatial gate!" Hu Yuanbo muttered in shock.

As the only Origin Core realm martial artist present, only Hu Yuanbo was able to understand just what was going on. In contrast, not even Lu Tianzi himself had a clue.

Moreover, Hu Yuanbo was only able to make an intelligent guess by inferring from his existing knowledge. Even he was stlll nowhere near the realm of understanding the rules of space-time.

But it only took a moment before Hu Yuanbo broke out of his daze.

"Kill him before it activates!" Hu Yuanbo forced himself to raise his voice in his hurry.

If it really was a spatial gate, then Lu Tianzi must have obtained some life saving trump card that could send him away in times of desperation.

In order to obtain such a ridiculously rare item, Lu Tianzi's fortune was simply inconceivable!

Keeping around an enemy with such terrifying fortune and talent was definitely going to end up badly for them in the future.

In order to rid themselves of such problems, they had to kill Lu Tianzi before the spatial gate was able to activate!

"Understood!" Cui Yuanping stepped forward once again, and this time Gong Tiesha had arrived right beside him.

Both of them raised their weapons and were about to swing down when they saw a young man rush in to block them from the helpless Lu Tianzi.

"You are seeking death!" Cui Yuanping roared in rage.

He definitely was not going to make the same mistake that Lu Tianzi just made!

If someone wished to use this same trick on him, then he would simply cleave the other party apart along with Lu Tianzi!

But this time, Gong Tiesha was the one who flinched.

"Stop!" Gong Tiesha yelled in frustration as he forcefully shifted the trajectory of his attack to slam it against Cui Yuanping.

Bang-!

Cui Yuanping completely did not see that coming. He was struck squarely and stumbled to the side. Thankfully, Gong Tiesha had reined in his strength at the last moment so Cui Yuanping did not incur any injuries.

"What do you think you are doing?! Are you betraying the City Lord?" Cui Yuanping turned to his colleague in disbelief after regaining his balance.

However, his questions were completely ignored by the Head of Workers District.

"What do you think you are doing?" Gong Tiesha roared with the exact same question towards the young man who stood fearlessly between them and Lu Tianzi.

Lu Tianzi's eyes trembled for a moment as he saw the familiar back of the man named Gong Shengjie.

"I don't care what you guys say he did, or what his real identity actually is," Gong Shengjie clenched his fists tightly as he stared back at his father in defiance. "No matter what, he is still my Brother Zhanyuan! Brothers will trust and look out for each other in times of need, no questions asked!"

And at this moment, the two runic formations exploded into a sea of light, blinding everyone in the main square!

A few moments later when the sea of light finally dissipated, Lu Tianzi's figure was gone along with it.
