Zeul City: City of Mavens 5 Chapter 5- Battle Trial

The door automatically opened. I think it is designed to open once the dungeon is cleared.

Sir Gildarts welcomed us.

"Congratulations second group, you finished the second trial faster than expected. " he said

"Now let us wait for another thirty minutes for the other group." He added.

We stand up in front of the door where the other group should exit.

I looked at Arthas. Good thing that our task was not affected by that little fight, he really must be that dedicated to his goal whatsoever.

Fifteen minutes has passed and still no sign on them.

Twenty minutes...

Twenty Five minutes.

Twenty Nine minutes.

Twenty Nine minutes and thirty seconds.

Twenty nine minutes and fifty seconds.

Twenty Nine minutes and fifty five seconds.

Twenty Nine minutes and fifty six seconds.

Twenty Nine minutes and fifty seven seconds.

Twenty Nine minutes and fifty eight seconds.

Twenty Nine minutes and fifty nine seconds.

Thirty Minutes. Still no sign of them.

Thirty one minutes.

"Okay it's now official." Sir Gildarts suddenly said.

After saying that, the door opened and the other group got out. They look wasted, beat up.

"Well, its good that everyone is finally here. " sir Gildarts said, obviously focusing his gaze on the other group.

"Gather up everyone. I have an unfortunate news for you." He said. We all gathered in front of him.

"It's sad to say but, unfortunately, the last group to arrive won't be able to join the next trial. In other words, you fail the enrollment." Sir Gildarts said, like he's absolute.

I saw their face turned pale, those group who didn't made it. I'm glad I make it, there's a chance, a big chance that I will learn something about my mom.

Sir Gildarts allowed the other group to stay until the last trial is over.

"So for the next and last trial, the remaining group will battle each other. But don't worry, no one will be eliminated this time. This trial's purpose is to determine your class, so you still need to take this trial seriously. The battle has a 2 minutes time limit, but the battle can also stop when one gives up or when I say so. " sir Gildarts said, now that's bad news.

Everyone of us kept a straight face, showing how determined we are. This is a battle where we should not hold back, while I'm confident with my Enhancement and Defense magic, I ain't sure about my offense magic. I'm maybe in a disadvantage since all of them are offensive magic users, well, in the previous trial, Heist served as a support but Gravity magic can be offensive, it is pretty offensive. So, thinking over everything, I am the only one with the least offensive magic.

"The battle will be a one-on-one battle. After this trial, you are officially a student of Zeul Academy. So, let's not take this long. For the first battle, we'll have Aorion and Azrael!" Sir Gildarts announced.

Everyone looked at us, I looked at Aorion, he's looking at me. He smiled and took a step forward, I just nodded at him at took a step forward. The venue is a huge vacant space, we walked towards sir Gildarts, sir Gildarts snapped his finger, and suddenly, we were transported into a plane, a green huge plane with nothing but an infinite grassland and an endless river.

"After 2 minutes, you will be transported back in here, so don't stop unless you give up or I say so. The battle starts now" sir Gildarts announced.

I casted a 6 tier enhancement that allows me to quick cast.

"Enhancement: Global Casting." After that, I casted other Enhancement Magics on me.

"Enhancement: Speed Force, Enhancement: Flex Ability." Speed force is a 5 tier enhancement magic that boosts my speed 10 times as my normal speed, It also enhances your attack speed and casting speed so it's an additional fast casting for me. It also boosts your reflexes so you can dodge attacks better. Flex Ability is also a 5 tier enhancement magic that boosts my flexibility. If I can't win, then I'd rather have this battle into a draw.

"Water Magic: Bubble Bullets." He fired some bubble on me, but for some reason, these bubbles are fast. And because of my enhancement, I dodged the bubbles easily.

"If my fast bubbles can't defeat you, then how about these. Water magic: Bubble Blast. " he summoned a lot of slow moving bubbles.

Since I ran fast, I got hit into one of the bubbles. The bubble exploded as I hit it. My inner barrier cracked. Mavens have this natural inner barrier, this is a feature that normal humans don't have. And maven battles are about destroying one's inner barrier, once the opponent's inner barrier is destroyed, then that's the end of it. Well, all these informations are from a book that I have read, since this is just a trial battle, I don't really know how will this go.

"Wind Magic: Wind Barrier." Wind barrier is an offensive magic. It gathers wind around the caster and blasts of around the caster like a barrier expanding, it is one of the AOE magic that I have.

"Water-Ice Magic: Freezing Needle" water spikes came sprouting out from the ground, I managed to dodge it but I got hit by the past moment, good thing is it's just my hair that got hit, it didn't affect my inner barrier. The hair that got hit by the water froze, I've been wondering why it's a water-ice magic when it only produces water spikes but the moment my hair froze, my question got answered.

"Defense Magic: Water-Ice Resistance Cloak" I summoned a cloak that resists his magic, I can't afford to take more damage. He's the projectile long rage type of maven, and my defense works very well against that.

"Water-Ice Magic: Frozen Bubble Bullets" He throws the same fast bubbles as earlier, I didn't bother dodging it. My cloak nullified the attack.

"All your long ranged attack is futile, nothing but physical attacks can damage me from now on, well unless you can use other type of magic." I said, I saw him grin.

"Thanks for your clue, Water-Ice Summon: Water Trident Freeze." He summoned a liquid trident which is frozen on the area where his grip is. Based on that detail, I think the moment it makes contact, it freezes.

He charged unto me but I easily dodged him.

"Trident Skill: Trinity Slash" he used a trident skill on me. Skills are what Non-magic users maven uses. Sword mavens, Bow Mavens, and others uses skills, Trident is a branch of the Poles.

There are 5 standard type of Subjects, Subjects are what the mavens focuses on. These standard types are Magic, Pole, Blade, Long Ranged, and Connector. These 5 types of Subjects have what we call branches, these branches serves us their major subjects. Magic branches are Staffs, Wands, Charms, and Dolls. Pole Branches are Spear, Trident, and Lance. Blade Branches are Sword, Dagger, Claws, and Knife. Long Ranged Branches are Guns, Crossbows, and Bow. Connector Branches are Whip, Thread, and Chain. Tome is one of the Special Subjects alongside with Fan, Scythe, Hammer, and Knuckles, and only lesser mavens are on that area.

I dodged him again, thanks to my enhanced speed and flexibility. But instead of just dodging him, I threw an attack.

"Wind Magic: Razor Leaf" Razor Leaf is a 3 tier wind magic that lets the caster summon sharp leaves to attack the opponent, this magic is fast and sharp. He dodged that attack. After dodging that the place suddenly shifted, sign that our battle is over. And I lost.

"Congratulations to the both of you. Now let's proceed to the next pair." Sir Gildarts said. Arthas and Heist stepped forward. At one moment, Arthas glanced at me. They are shifted to a different place but we still can see them. Sir Gildarts seemed to use a Clairvoyance magic. There are actually a lot of type of Clairvoyance magic, one that can see the future, one that can see the past, one that can see the present but is held at a different place, one that can see the truth, and one that allows you to communicate with the dead.

The venue of their battle is on a mountain top, the mountain is rocky. So somehow, Heist's Gravity is at an advantage.

Arthas used Aviation Magic, with his Light Magic, he is also at an advantage, this match up is close.

Heist made the first move, as expected, he used the rocks around him. He made the rocks float and throw them to Arthas. Arthas punched the rocks and shattered them. I saw his punches sparked, he used an enhancement. Now, Arthas countered with his light magic. He summoned a moving laser. Heist used the rocks to block the laser but at the end of laser's span, Heist got hit, causing a crack on his inner barrier.

Heist made himself fly. He raised his hands, and the mountain below them shakes. The mountain floats, Heist threw the mountain towards Arthas. But unfortunately , Arthas managed to destroy to mountain using his light ball. With no rocks left, Heist gave up.

"That was close." Heist said the moment they are back in the room.

"Congratulations to all of you, you showed a good match. You are now admitted to Zeul Academy. And to the other group, don't be disheartened, you are very much welcome to enroll again." Sir Gildarts said and he used a spatial Magic to transport us on the Gate.

"As this is a School City, everything that you'll need is in here. So there's no need for you to go out. You can't pass through this Gate without a Pass so don't bother." Sir Gildarts said. We entered the gate and after a moment, the place shifted.

What's inside is very much different from the outside. On the inside, there's a huge city surrounding the wall in the center. Since we are on top, we can see the area clearly. Inside the wall is a castle surrounded by a lot of mansions. The place is really big, even bigger than Zelda. On the center of the area is a tower, a tower that is the biggest structure that I've ever seen. It is inside the wall but it consumed half of the area, even in our location, you can't see the top of the tower.

"Welcome to the Real Zeul Academy, a school city for Mavens." Sir Gildarts said.
