The Necromancers Vol 1 Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Chapter 15 The deadly fight

Was it exposed? . . . I subconsciously touched my left eye, but immediately realized: it doesn't matter, it was also a necromancer in front of me, and now there was no time to care about my hiding secret…

"You are also a Necromancer?" It was Lewis’ voice . His prior relief had been swept away .

"Wait, we don't have to fight . . . We can cooperate . If we join hands, maybe we can conquer this whole continent . . . "

"He's just a kid!!! He could never hurt you . . . Why don't you let him go!!" I heard my voice return to softness, but it more horrifying than roaring!

"So what? I can kill whenever I want to!" Lewis' tone began to change . He probably realized that it was impossible to call me in . His voice was full of anger and arrogance . "Everyone sees me a certain way, with fear and a desire to assassinate me! Did I do anything bad? No! I am just a Necromancer who is after the true power of magic! Though I am a human being, I have no right to live with other human beings . I was expulsed to this barren hill, having to stay with those stinky guys all day long . Human beings treat me like this just because I am a Necromancer, because I have stronger magic than them, because I am ugly! Even staying here quietly is impossible for me . Those humans always want to come kill me . They hoped to be able to become famous by killing me! Well, since they are afraid of me, since they look down upon me, let me do something to make them never look down upon me anymore! They think I’m ugly and crippled, then let me marry a princess to despise them! I will let them all know me, be scared of me, bow down to me in fear! Now that little boy wanted to kill me, so he has to die!”

"And you!" Lewis was looking at me directly . His two eyes looked as if they would swallow me . "Do n't claim to be the representative of justice! You are also a Necromancer . Your hands can’t be clean either . They are full of blood…Hiding behind your so-called justice is uglier sin than mine…”

"He's just a child!!!" I screamed again . My uglier sin than yours…Maybe…But I would never kill someone who doesn't pose any threat to me for fun! And…I have not previously been qualified to mention about justice in myself!

Lewis stared at me . His eyes were full of hatred . The same for me . There is nothing to say between us . In fact, we only conversed with each other so that we both had time to accumulate power for the next attack!

We started our strike almost at the same time!

The mountains collapsed from in between, the thunder stroke down like raindrops, the earth was torn, and countless devils swarmed out of the cracks, killing each other under the will power of the two Necromancers . Water, wind, earth and fire, all four elements have become our weapons, confronting each other visibly and invisibly . I was filled with anger and furious . I couldn’t feel the hurt from magic anymore . I sent out one spell after another, one magic after another . I unscrupulously used my physical strength and will power to drive various attacks . The same for Lewis!

I didn't know how long it took . When even the Necromancers were exhausted, the surroundings quieted down . Now there were only me and Lewis standing .

Now we are standing on a flat ground covered by snow, face to face . I didn’t remember when we moved our fight over here . The old cave had already been destroyed completely, together with the mountain . The remains of the mountains buried Lewis’ troop—but actually it didn’t matter . Lewis would be able to organize another troop parallel to the old one just after a little while . Surrounding us were the dead bodies of different devils we called over here from various worlds . Most of them were shredded by the magic in the battle .

I was injured seriously . Even with so many protective magic, the power of Lewis still caused a great harm to me . I didn’t know how many wounds I had on my body . The only thing I was certain was that I already used all my power and magic to stand here . Lewis was a horrible enemy . I’ve never come across such a terrific enemy after I turned into a Necromancer . His strength was definitely no worse than mine . Lewis was in front of me . His situation was no better than mine . His wooden prosthetic leg was completely burnt so he could only sit on the ground, with blood coming out of his mouth every time he breathed . But his eyes were still staring at me, full of hatred .

The victory was not determined . We both were accumulating our power while breathing hard . Under normal situation, both me and Lewis would be beaten down completely . But now we were still confronting each other with hatred, ready to launch the next attack .

"The Storm of the Styx!" Lewis first started . He summoned the extremely terrible ice from the Styx, countless sharp ice rushed over to me, with the smallest piece enough to freeze the body of a grown-up human being . These ice from the Styx kept hitting my body, cutting through layers of my magical protection and trying to cut into my body…I raised my hands to protect my head, with a terrible feeling of paralysis coming from my hands…

I fell backwards onto the ground . There came the laughter of Lewis . He thought he won the fight . But I struggled to stand up again, it was not my physical strength but my will power that sustained me, the pride of being a strong magician and the horrible picture of the little boy’s falling body being hit by fireballs .

He was only a little child . He didn't know anything except for his passion or rash urge . He was just a naïve child .

He was only a little child . He didn't know anything except for his passion or rash urge . He was just a naïve child .

Maybe this was the last spell Lewis could launch . Because when I stood up, I saw the terror in his eyes . He would never have expected me standing up—neither would I .

I started my spell . Magic consumes a lot of the spirit and strength of the magician . I was very weak . I knew this magic would deprive me of my last strength . Maybe I would fall down right after the magic—with no chance to stand up again .

Lewis gave a roar . His crippled body accumulated more power than I had expected . His body floated up and rushed over to me . There was something sparkling in his hand…It was the dagger!

When the dagger pierced into my body, it was the time for the magical energy to explode . Lewis was thrown out by the great power and fell onto a huge rock in the ice . Regardless of magical power from the dagger, the slam was enough to beat him down—I was thinking so .

My life was being sucked away by the dagger . Even though there was nobody holding it, this holly tool was still releasing its power . I barely pulled the dagger out of my chest and blood spurted out immediately, dying my robe red . The only luck was that the dagger did not go deep into my body, killing me right away . But that’s no longer relevant . I walked over to Lewis . I only walked three steps, my remaining strength was only enough to support me for three steps, then I fell down completely .

I looked forward and Lewis was looking over to me . I saw red liquid flowing out from his mouth . His eyes had the unique glow of those who were about to die . I guessed I must look the same to him .

Did I win? Or did I lose! Winning and losing is no longer meaningful to either of us . No one had extra strength to walk out of this ice land, regardless who the winner was . The winner and the loser would rest here forever, being forgotten and buried by the snow with these dead devil bodies . If there must be a winner, then it would be me . I fell on the ice land, but Lewis was lying on the rock, being unconscious in the freezing cold . It must be me who won .

"It is all over . . . " I said to myself .

My body was suddenly lifted by a force and floating to the front . I looked ahead . It was Lewis, looking at me . It was his power . He still had the strength to use ‘floating magic’?

Was he about to drop me off the cliff? The nearest cliff was about 50 meters away from me . But I didn’t think Lewis’ power was enough to send me over there . Even if he did, what’s the matter? There’s no essential difference between falling to death or freezing to death .

My body was gently dropped to the ground, next to Lewis . Lewis looked at me . There was no more cruelty or violence in his eyes . It was a pair of clear and peaceful eyes . At the moment of dying, he had finally escaped from the curse of the dead dark forces he had aligned with and moved out of the mire filled with his power and desires . I can tell that, in front of me, it was no more a Necromancer, not the vicious murderer who kills for fun . He was just an ordinary person-an ordinary person who was dying .

"Are you alright?" he asked me .
