The Last Embrace 25 Adam Is Back!

Jessy spent her days strengthening her mental ability. She would spend hours blowing mountains, buildings, caves, cars and killing horrifying monsters and beast in her imaginary world. She would rose atop the tallest building, rise above the clouds and teleport into another city and place. She would freeze her enemies and kill them. She would often imagine herself hunting and killing: drug lords, rapist, child molesters, human smugglers, and serial killers. She would use all types of weapons: guns, knives, swords, fire, water, wind or sand to all kill her enemies.

She would imagine herself trapped in many unfortunate situations, like dangling from a building, trapped in a burning house, trapped in the cave, being hit by a plane, hit by bullets, swords and any weapons she could imagine. And she would always survive all those horrifying circumstances.

The things she can do in her mind were endless.

In her imaginary world, she rules!

But after each imaginary session ended, her face would broke into a wide smile, it's fun, it's like she immersed herself into a video game world and she is the leading protagonist.

She wonders how it feels like if those scary monsters she imagined will appear in real life?

Maybe she will wet her pants caused out of fear. If those monsters will suddenly appear in front of her...she's a goner for sure!

Whenever she was in her imaginary world, her cravings for Adams' presence lessened.

The mansion felt lonely and empty when Adam is not around.

She will hop in the swing alone...

Water her roses alone...

Swim in the lake alone...

In her room...his scents linger.

When she and Nana Aida eat their meals, one empty chair always stuck out...

She visits the woods during afternoon time...she can imagine him there, making a bonfire, climbing trees, and levitating above the trees.

Everywhere she looks around the mansion, Adams' presence would always remind her how he became an integral part of her existence.

She felt extreme loneliness and emptiness inside her heart, she missed him very much!

'Come back soon, Adam! I need you, I miss you so much!' she screamed those words in her mind, hoping he can hear her silent calling.

Three days ended so fast and she's very excited to see Adam again.

Fourth Day.

Dinner time...

"Nana, am excited to see Adam again!"

"And so am I, " said Nana Aida.

"Maybe he will be back tonight," Jessy said.

Nana Aida nodded.

Jessy feels good today because she will see Adam again. She will surely ask him a lot of question regarding the status of his family and the other vampires who were in hiding.

"Nana, if Adam comes, please let him know I want to see him at once in my room," she smiled.

"Sure...Jess," said the older woman.

Jessy went upstairs, once, inside her room, she opened her laptop and scanned for world news, she saw same headlines: typhoons, climate change, raped victims, hit and run accident, never-ending Brexit drama, immigrants problems and all sorts of bad news, she shook her head in sadness. She closed her laptop.

She went to her bed, wearing her earphones and listened to Jazz music on her smartphone...

She will wait for Adams' return, she's expecting he will burst into her room to see her the moment he arrive in the mansion.

Somehow she falls sleep last night...the moment she opened her eyes the sun was already rising outside her window.

Another day...

Did Adam arrive last night?

If he did, he will surely see her first!

She stood up and went inside her bathroom. She gargled water with her mouth and after washing her face, she quickly went downstairs to ask Nana about Adam. She found her sweeping dried leaves in front of the mansion.

"Nana, Adam has not arrived yet?"

The older woman looked at her frowning. "He arrived last night, I thought you already saw each other?"

Jess' eyebrows rose. "R-really? What time he arrives?"

"About 8:00 o'clock last night," said Nana Aida.

"Thanks, Nana." She was deeply puzzled, if he arrived early last night~why he did not visit her in her room? She was still wide awake during those times. So out of character of him.

She hurriedly went back inside the mansion and climbed the stairs with lots of questions swirling in her mind, she went straight inside Adams' room without even knocking his door first.

There he is...

He was sitting on his chair in front of his laptop, wearing headphones in both ears and playing a video game, chatting with whomever it is.

She sighed. She walks slowly towards where he was sitting...she sat down on the vacant chair beside him.

She wanted to kiss and hug him so badly because she misses him very much...but there's something wrong with him...he did not even bother to look at her.

She cleared the lump in her throat. "Hmm, hey, you're back!"

"Hello...Jess," he said, he quickly glanced at her, then he brought back his attention to his video game.

As if she did not exist. As if she's a stranger. Jessy bit her lower lip.

'What a cold reception,' she thought to herself.

She stood up and hug him from behind, she took off his headphones, kiss his cheek and whispered on his ears..."I miss you so much, Adam"... with all the emotion she could muster.

He did not reply, nor even look at her. He just put back his headphones on his ears and continue playing.

A few seconds later, he finally looked at her. "Talk to you later, Jess." He said~dismissing her.

Her heart stopped beating...Oh, God!

Jess' heart at that point was already bleeding with his cold treatment. "Fine..."

She stood up and with heavy steps walked out from his door, tears were already streaming in her face, 'he did not miss me at all' she painfully said to herself.

Jessy went to her room and cried a river in her bed, soaking her pillows, she was very upset with the sudden change of his behavior. Adam will always stop his gaming every time she talked to him, but a few minutes ago, he chose his game over her, as if her mere presence is a distraction itself. He also did not return her kiss and hug, that completely baffled her. Adam was always been a touchy-freely kind of guy towards her, the day won't be complete if he can't kiss or touch her. But the guy inside Adams' room earlier was very cold, very distant, he seemed to act like a complete stranger to her.

She continued her crying, she was half expecting he will burst inside her room at any moment and apologize for his weird behavior.

But her tears already stopped and dried, but he never comes.

She decided to go downstairs and ease her grief away in the swing.

Before she went down, she went to his room to check on him again and tried to open the door, but it was locked inside. He is locking his door! Why oh why? Ever since they entered into a romantic relationship together, he never locked his door, she can enter his room freely anytime she wants.

F*ck! What is going on!?

She gritted her teeth, so totally annoyed now. She went downstairs and went to visit her garden. She did not bother to greet her flowers, she obviously had a bad morning. She did not even water her plants, she felt distraught.

Jessy hops in the swing. She keeps swinging herself for one full hour, he did not bother to come down to join her.

Still pissed and extremely annoyed, she ran towards the lake and jump into the water, hoping the water can wipe away her anger. She spent another full hour swimming in the lake, while constantly looking at his window, she was tentatively thinking of throwing stones at his window but she decided against it in the last minute.

Frustrated, she stopped swimming and went upstairs, she halted outside his door and tried to open it again, it's still locked inside! What the hell?! Out of anger, she kicked his door hard...ouch! she thinks her foot was broken. She continues to her room, limping.

Oh God, she thinks she's gonna die! Her eyes waters again, tears keep falling, she thinks if she will not stop crying she will drown on her own sorrows.

They used to be a pea in the pod, glued to each other almost every minute of the day, they were partners in crimes, they were inseparable. It's all clear now, he was keeping his distance away from her and he's totally ignoring her. Is he punishing her for something she did not commit? What wrong did she do this time?

What's so fucking wrong with him?

When she glanced at her alarm clock, it was already 12:00 noon, time for lunch. She composed herself, her uncombed long black hair was strewn all across her face in haphazard manner, she did not bother with her appearance, she does not care if she looks like Samara Morgan from the movie Ring. Her eyes were swollen from crying. Her uncombed hair will surely cover her face so that Nana Aida won't see her bloated eyelids.

She went downstairs and entered the dining table, Nana Aida and Adam were already there. She sat down on her chair quietly, not even looking at Adam.

"OMG! You look awful-Jess!" Nana Aida exclaimed at her, upon seeing her miserable appearance.

Jessy flinched.

"are you crying?" the older woman tried to peek into the younger woman's face.

Jessy ignored her Nana's inquiries, she continued slicing the pork steak in her plate, she deliberately slices the pork hard and purposely sent it flying towards Adams' direction aiming for his face, which he avoided easily. 'Asshole!' she screamed at him in silence.

She can't take it anymore, she has no appetite for eating. She suddenly stood up and left the dining table, head down...on the way, she bumped on the door hitting her forehead, Ouch! "F*ck!" she yelled and continue on her way.

Nana Aida and Adam looked at each other in bewilderment...

"What's wrong with her?" asked Nana Aida.

Adam did not reply, he kept his silence.

"Are you two having lovers quarrel?" she continues to asked.

"Don't worry Nana, I will fix this mess myself," he said. He left the dining room.

He went straight into Jess' room. He tried to open it, it's locked inside. He knocked and knocked and calls her name, yet she still won't open the door.

He decided to use his power and went inside her room by passing through the wall.

He saw her, standing on her window, both shoulders slumped down. He sighed.

"Jess, we need to talk," he said softly.

"Go away!" her voice sounded so hollow.

She walks towards her bed like a zombie.

"Jess, I think we need to break up," he said casually, his voice was low, she almost did not hear it.

But she did hear it!

In Jess' ears, it sounded like a time bomb detonated inside her ears, it exploded throughout her body and the splinters reached her heart, slicing her heart into a minuscule pieces....she had a hard time breathing, she saw thousands of black dots swimming in her vision. She tried to count them all but she can no longer go on, then she collapsed on her bed.

She fainted!
