The Immortal Ruins Chapter 51

Chapter 51

Chapter 51 The Double-headed Mastiff

Liang Duan Mountain.

A cloud of smoke rose above the eastern side of the mountain’s second platform.

The human masters watched the nine giant figures with joy.

The humongous lion was sprawled on the ground with no sign of silver light on its body, its back crushed and blood staining its scorched fur, pooling under it.

The beast was twitching and struggling to breathe. It was going to die soon, as most of its face was shattered, one of its eyes burst open, exposing the deep orbital cavity behind.

The three silver rhinos looked even more miserable than the lion: not one part of their bodies was intact.

The giant wolf and the fat parrots were all down too, burnt nearly to a crisp. Their roasted flesh was sliding off the bones and the air smelled like an afternoon barbecue (if the grill were lit with gunpowder).

Quite impressed, Jiang Shaoliu made a quick wolf whistle.

The giant beasts had been easy targets at such short range. They had nowhere to run.

“All in three minutes...” he muttered to himself. Even he, in his high-tech combat suit, might not have survived such an intense barrage.

A great cheer gained moment in the crowd of masters on the second platform. They had killed the most powerful monsters ever seen in Yungang and now there was no doubt that the rare fruit on the peak belonged to the humans.

Yin Manshu slowly moved her gaze to Jiang Shaoliu, the crystal thread glittering around her fingers.

But Jiang Shaoliu was looking up.

Something very powerful had just jumped off the third platform of the mountain.

Her eyes

widened. “What in the hell is that thing? It’s massive!”

Rocks exploded off the side of the mountain where the beast landed, over half a kilometer away, startling everyone.

It was a giant monster over thirty meters tall, with white-snow fur waving in the wind and glittering, sharp claws. Bright sliver light flashed under its paws each time it moved and it could cover a jaw-dropping distance with every leap.

Now, only 500 meters remained between it and the humans.

Another prominent characteristic soon became obvious - it had two heads.

This was the first silver double-headed monster seen in Yungang.

“Everybody, move out!” Lin Yuetao barked, then leaned back as air poured into his lungs.

Bai Long raised his blade and charged directly at the beast, his figure almost vanishing in blinding silver light.

Chi Xiao threw aside his bloodstained cape and flexed his fingers, a wide, bloody grin on his lips. He had never been this excited for a fight.

Yin Manshu glanced at Jiang Shaoliu again, then her jet-black hair became soft silver, like a million strands of silk. A frosty mist clung to the exposed parts of her skin as she rushed forward.

Standing just below the western peak of Liang Duan Mountain, Rui Feng was so excited his hands were trembling.

This was beyond his wildest expectations. This livestream was going to make him famous for life!

Three points of silver light surrounded the gigantic silvered mastiff and began attacking it wildly on the crags between the second and third platforms.

The double-headed mastiff forced them all back with a massive sweep of its paws.

Bai Long somersaulted over the monstrous dog and whipped

whipped his bright blade across its hide. A few tufts of fur dispersed into the wind, quickly fading from silver to dull white.

Even after a dozen slashes against its iron-hard skin, there was not a drop of blood on the sword. Rather, cracks began to appear on the blade.

Blood ran down Chi Xiao’s chin as he bit through his lips in his trembling excitement, attacking the beast faster and faster and raining chopped strands of fur over the rocks.

“Goddmanit!” Chi Xiao impatiently switched to using fists to attack, but the double-headed mastiff’s skin was so hard he almost broke his knuckles over it.

Yin Manshu’s crystal thread fared no better.

Lin Yuetao’s was still on the second cliff, his uniform torn to shreds as his chest expanded to three times its normal volume. He seemed ten centimeters taller and the silver light emanating from his body was blinding and hot.

Noises like rolling thunder came from inside him, his ribs and sternum almost bursting under the pressure from his inflated lungs.

Everyone was paying attention to the giant dog, waiting on Lin Yuetao to unleash his roar.

Except Jiang Shaoliu.

He was looking in the opposite direction, at the nine mangled monsters sprawled over the rocks. “You can’t fool me. You’re still alive!”

Suddenly, the lion’s body stirred and it dragged itself upright again. It’s enormous body shuddered a few time before the silver sheen began to return to it.

People among the formation of masters were beginning to nice. “Careful, the lion is still alive!”

The giant wolf next to the lion stood up too, as well as the three silver rhinos and the two fat parrots.

parrots.

All nine silver monsters had survived.

They staggered to their feet, hooves and paws, staring at Lin Yuetao in the distance, and began advancing slowly, gradually speeding up.

The human masters began firing wildly with whatever ammunition they had left, creating a deadly crossfire of machinegun rounds and high-velocity sniper rifle bullets.

They aimed at the giant monsters’ eyes, throat and other weak point.

Sadly, in vain.

Blood streamed from their massive bodies as bullets bit into their skin and tore off bits of flesh, dyeing the rocks behind them crimson, but the monsters seemed to feel no pain as they followed the lion towards Lin Yuetao .

Without an order, two hundred men as one raised their arms and charged.

Gui Gui, the skinny and burly soldiers, and the lady in purple with the two remaining team leaders of the Gangxing Group unit, as well as a dozen or so other silvered masters, led the charge.

They carried knives, swords, tridents or even nothing at all, but their eyes were red with battle fury.

Liu Gung and Chen Anguo were among them. They didn’t rush forwards, but stopped not far from Lin Yuetao.

Bang bang bang!

Gui Gui’s fists fell like hail, but he was stomped into the ground before he could touch the lion. He climbed out of the pit with a faceful of dust and stormed off after it from behind.

The two soldiers were kicked away by the giant wolf, flipping a dozen times through the air before crashing into the ground, and immediately jumped back into the fight, spitting out blood.

The purple lady and the two team leaders were rammed by the three rhinos the three rhinos and flew over the edge of the cliff, their silver lights fading rapidly.

Those nine monsters were unstoppable, wreaking havoc through the ranks of one- and two-ringed silvered human masters.

There were fewer and fewer masters in the front, all cast aside or trampled by the charging monsters.

Eventually, only four or five people were left between the raging lion and the Lion Warrior.

The lion whipped its claws and sent two men flying into a pile of boulders. It roared mightily, showing its rows of razor teeth, then lowered its head and bit off a man’s entire torso.

Only Chen Anguo and Liu Guang remained with Lin Yuetao.

A dark blue figure suddenly landed in front of them, blasting a shallow pit in the rock and causing them to stagger backwards.

It was Jiang Shaoliu.

With his friends out of the way and the lion’s gaping maw so near him, Jiang Shaoliu roared loudly and threw a right hook straight at the beast’s teeth, so savagely that he ripped the back of his combat suit’s right shoulder, “Stop right there!”

Smash!

Time seemed to slow down for a moment as the lion, the size of an average six-floor apartment building, suddenly found itself flying upside down through the air, somersaulting far over Lin Yuetao’s head.

Debris and dust spread in all directions from where the lion was smashed upon the rocks, lying there and breathing heavily.

Much of its teeth were shattered, as well as its lower jaw, and liters blood streamed from its mouth.

The other eight monsters stopped in their tracks, not sure how to proceed.

With clenched fists, Jiang Shaoliu gazed at them.
