The Ancient Genes Chapter 398

Max's gaze turned grim and he sensed the danger approaching.

He immediately moved, planning to kill the guy before the man could arrive.

Werner sensing Max's intention, immediately tried to back away. But Max didn't plan to let him do so…...he immediately arrived in front of him and his dagger made a slash.

"Boom!"

Demonic aura exploded out Werner's body. His aura seemed a bit different then the other demons Max had met until now but it was still ominous….

Max avoided the onslaught directed at him and tore through the ominous aura.

"Scree!!!"

The flaming Phoenix released a piercing cry as it dove straight towards Max. By now the enemies numbers had already dwindled to the level that the water dragon alone was able to take care of the rest….

"Swish!"

As blade made contact with the figure, the Phoenix descended crashing into the concrete pavement.

"Boom!"

A figure flew out of the flames and crashed into the rubbles.

"Tsk…" Max clicked his tongue as he walked out of the flames. 

Time was over…..and he couldn't kill him…

Werner was lying there, seemingly on his last breath. 

The guy had made a full transformation and sacrificed both of his limbs in order to buy enough time to activate his life saving artifact….

Even Max's strength was not enough to get through that…..

He only needed one more blow, but it didn't seem he had any more chances.

Max raised his head to look at the figure above. The guy was floating in the air….

'This is gonna be tough….' Max smiled wryly.

Only GrandMaster Tier Mages could fly….but luckily this guy wasn't one…..if not Max would be dead by now....

Max could feel that the man's strength should be somewhere at the Peak of Master Tier….but the fact he could make himself stay afloat was more than enough to show that he was not an average Joe.

Max looked at the barriers erected in the sky and cursed inwardly. Even though it could prevent the enemies from escaping, it did the same to Max….he had planned on running away but...it didn't seem he could anymore…

"You don't seem worried? I won't be as calm as you if I was surrounded on all four sides with death awaiting…." Max said as he looked at him.

Buying time was the essence of survival…..

"I only follow my Master's order…..and right now, it's your death that is desired…." The man finally spoke and in his figure suddenly turned blurry.

Max's senses immediately began to scream as the hairs on his body rose.

An earth wall immediately rose in front of Max in defense as Max borough his hands together to defend.

"Bang!"

A fist wrapped in menacing aura broke through the wall and headed for Max before crashing into his arms.

Creaking sounds could be heard from Max's arms. His bones were under intense pressure.

"Whoosh!"

Max flew behind with an intense speed, but he still hadn't lost his edge. The water dragon immediately flew towards Max cushioning his collision.

'This guy is insane….' Max muttered as he looked at the black and blue patch on his left forelimb.

"Tsk….it shouldn't be that much of a problem….but I can't take too many of these…." Max muttered as he looked at him.

It was good thing that the man hadn't gone all out, if he had gone through his demonic transformation. Max definitely would have a broke bone…..

From Master Tier, the difference in strength would become evident. Even a sub level could mean a crushing defeat or death....

Only broken people like Max could still be alive after the Man's blow and say such stuff….

As Max was planning his next move, he suddenly felt two jolts as the flow energy and spirit energy in his body began to surge. They grew vibrant and Max could feel his strength rising….

'Those idiots…..' Max immediately recognised where the boost in his strength was coming from.

Even though his system was in update, it didn't shut down his passive abilities….as for the active skills, Max could use them but it depended on his own understanding….which certainly couldn't match the terrifying system…

Max looked at the guy and immediately took out his spear before immediately rushing ahead.

"Roar!!!!"

A water dragon immediately conjured behind Max as he swiftly made his way toward the menacing man.

The man raised his hand and the next moment, tiny threads made of demonic aura immediately rushed towards Max.

As Max was about to counter them, the threads suddenly slowed down.

Wings sprang out of Max's back and taking advantage of the situation, he immediately closed in on the man and thrusted his spear right into his neck.

At the same time, a tiny shadow could be soon in the moonlight following from the sky…..

"Take this!!!" A childish voice resounded as an enormous club came crashing down on the man.

But a second before the attacks could connect, demonic aura exploded and the spirit energy which was covering the area was blown away by the sheer amount of demonic aura…..

The man broke free out of the restraint. His hand transformed leaving their human form.

"Clang!"

Using one of his hand, he caught Max's hand. But at this moment, Bahamut's club fell on him.

"Bang!"

Even though he had raised his other hand to block the club, his feets still sank as he was forced onto his knees.

At this moment, a red streak of light flashed before Max's eyes.

A cute fox appeared out of nowhere and it's claw immediately went for the man's eyes while it's sharp teeth seemed to be planning to bite the man's face off.

The man who didn't have a third arm could only turn his head towards the side trying to fend off while he prepared for another burst to break free of the situation…

"No...you don't…" Max muttered as the water dragon crashed into the man.

"Boom!"

Another explosion rang out as Max leapt back while catching Bahamut who was almost blown away.

As Max backed away another silvered hair guy appeared towards his side.

"How is it? Think we can beat him up…." He asked Max while still starting at the gaping hole in the building.

"Not sure...He is at the Peak of Master Tired….got any plans…" Max asked as he himself began to think how to deal with the man.

"Why not explain your abilities first, we can't cooperate without even knowing what you can and can't do..." Bahamut said as Max let him down.

"I am not the brute force type….I mainly use my spirit domain to fight. I can control the flow of time and space within that area….but as you saw enough force can shatter my domain…" Mr. Cool hurriedly explained his powers…

"But it consumes a lot of energy and I am still not good at manipulating the space…."

"I use brute force…" Bahamut didn't have much else to say. He didn't have any spirit abilities...which made him slightly depressed….

"My spirit abilities are more leaning toward elemental affinity along with strong sensory abilities…" Max replied.

His elemental affinity was truly great. Even Bahanut had to give it to Max. Bahmut too had affinity for other elements but he was only good at controlling earth….but Max seemed to have affinity toward every other….hell he was even combining them....

"He is coming….anyone finally have any idea…." Max said as he noticed the ominous aura surging.

"Let's go with the emergency plan then...." Bahamut said as he raised his club.

Max looked at him in confusion, he didn't remember creating such plans…

"Let's beat him up…." Bahamut declared. He was finally being true to his name and showing signs of being a muscle head….

'Yup, this suits him better….being that smart at his age is creepy actually...…' Max thought inwardly as he looked at Bahamut.

But well, he didn't have any better idea…...he was only planning to hold out until help arrived…..but if they could beat him.....then he really didn't mind it..
