Morning with Eleonora

The next morning after Eleonorneesan returns to the mansion. I can’t move my body after I woke up on top of my bed. 

That’s because of the practice I did with Eleonorneesan yesterday. Although I say it’s a practice, it was a different kind of practice from the usual practice-swinging or simply wielding the sword. It was like a grueling practice when I run until I was exhausted.

I took a bath, ate dinner, and went to bed earlier than usual yesterday, but I still feel weak. I can feel that the lower half of my body has muscle pains all over without needing to move my body to check them.

「……I don’t want to move」

I whispered inside my futon after casually sensing my body’s condition.

Let’s just go back to sleep for a little longer since I ran a lot yesterday and got tired.

So I thought and then I close my eyes and cover myself with the futon again, but then I noticed that the temperature of the room has risen due to the light from the sun coming into the room.

If I continue to sleep while covering myself with the futon like this, then the temperature of the room and my body will increase, thus making me sweat. 

So I just put my hand out from the futon and use Ice magic to spray cold air inside the room.

After a while, the air inside the room changes to that of a nice and cold one. The feeling of stuffy air instantly changes to comfortable air. It’s as if the air conditioner is switching on.

Feeling the cooler-than-usual air, I sleep curled up inside the futon.

Inside the slightly cold room, I sleep snugly by pulling the futon over my head.

It was a blissful time of making the most out of the benefit from the cold air so extravagantly.

Just when I close my eyes while basking in the blissful time, I can hear the sound of someone coming up from downstairs.

It was a very familiar presence and footsteps. Specifically, it seemed to be Eleonorneesan.

It should still be too early for breakfast. Is she trying to make me have some voluntary practice or something?

Since she’s the person I don’t want to see the most right now, I only move my arm and cast Psychic to lock the door to my room.

Even if Eleonorneesan were to yell in anger for some time, I should just pretend to be asleep. There are master keys to the mansion but, you will have to return to the first floor to get them.

Whaat, I can just say I was going for a walk in the morning as an excuse.

I can avoid having a morning practice with Eleonorneesan with this. 

When I was chuckling to myself while being wrapped in the futon, I can feel the presence of someone who seems to be Eleonorneesan stopping in front of the door. Then she tried to simply move the knob, but the door won’t open since I had locked it.

Rather, she didn’t knock on the door as if it was natural. I silently pray for her to return despite retorting to her action inside my mind.

But, contrary to hope, the door lock was easily unlocked and Eleonorneesan entered the room.

「……ehh? How?」

「I knew it, you’re awake」

I unintentionally opened my eyes and said my doubt out loud, while Eleonorneesan - who entered my room - had an exasperated expression on her face.

「Kaasan told me about it. She said that Al likes to lock the door using magic, so it’s better to bring the master key when it’s time to wake him up」

Eleonorneesan said while playing around with my room’s master key with her right hand.

Darn it, that Elnkaasan! So it was because of Elnkaasan’s suggestion!

If she didn’t bring the master key from the start, I will be able to easily escape from this room. She really did something unnecessary. 

「Rather than that, this room is cool isn’t it. You even used magic, huh? You’re so skillful as always」

「Well… Ah, Eleonorneesan the cold air will escape outside, so go outside and close the door」

Eleonorneesan approaches me to try to pull the futon from me in order to make me practice.

「I’ve trained hard yesterday, so it’s fine if I take it easy today right!」

「That is just the result of you being lazy, isn’t it?」

Oi oi, Eleonorneesan, don't you think it's too awful of you to say that I’m 'just being lazy' to your little brother?

「Rather than that, I can’t pull the futon away from you! Where did Al have this kind of strength? Al is probably using that magic called Psychic again, huh!」

Fuh, it appears that Eleonorneesan’s magic perception is still lacking since she didn’t immediately realize the fact that I’m using magic. I was uneasy if her magic perception would be on the same level as Nord-tousan and Elnkaasan where she can sense it since her level of using Body Strengthening magic increases, but it seems to be just a needless worry.

「It’s to withstand my sister’s outrageous strength」

「Then I will use Body Strengthening magic to counter Al’s magic, okay?」

When I said that while calmly smiling at her, Eleonorneesan looks serious as she suddenly said something dangerous. 

「Fuu, no matter how much your Body Strengthening magic improved, it’s still no match for my magic power」

「I will turn the bed over, regardless of the futon or anything else」

I can’t go back to sleep again when Eleonorneesan is at home.

I guess it’s because I let Eleonorneesan enter my room that it turned out to be my defeat.

「Come on, go get changed quickly. I have to wake up Sylvio after this」

As I got off from my bed and breathed a sigh of relief, Eleonorneesan took my training clothes from the shelf without my permission and handed them to me.

Urged by Eleonorneesan, I hurriedly took off my pajamas and change into my training clothes.

While I was doing that, Eleonorneesan opened the curtain and window to ventilate the room.

At the same time as I finish changing my clothes, the sun shines into my room.

The sunlight coming in is so dazzling to me, I guess it’s because I’ve been used to the dark room. But still, I have the habit of basking in the sunlight when I woke up, so I approach the window side while squinting my eyes.

「The weather is also nice today! It’s the best weather to have a practice!」

Just like Eleonorneesan said, the sky seen from the window seemed perfectly clear with no clouds in sight.

It’s extraordinarily fine weather. Though if the practice were to be canceled due to rain and she regretted it, then I will also be happy about it. 

The wind blew in from the open window, softly fluttering Eleonorneesan’s ponytail. The reddish-brown hair that leaves a trail in the air looks beautiful, they captivated me for a while.

Being with Eleonorneesan standing beside me like this feels nostalgic.

「Looking at the scenery from here makes me think that I’m really back home」

Well, her true character is an older sister who calmly lifted the bed of her younger brother to wake him up, despite him still sleeping on it. 

I stare at the scenery outside of the window even while thinking about that kind of thing.

The scenery outside is the mansion’s courtyard, with leafy trees growing exuberantly.

Beyond the gate, are the straight road to the village, the plains, the small flowing river, and further, are the large mountains that are visible from here.

Beautiful scenery surrounded by nature. This is the place where I should be.

Eleonorneesan and I stare at the scenery in silence.

And after a while, Eleonorneesan raised both of her arms and stretched herself.

Then she greatly exhales and says,

「Now then, let’s wake Sylvio up and have a practice! Al!」

She took my hand and started running.
