“Uncle Da Zhuang, please get Master Wuzu here. He will be able to tell if I am an Evil.”

His suggestion convinced Da Zhuang. Immediately, the muscleman shouted loudly and had someone look for Wu.

In the Wilderness, other than the savage beasts, there were also the obscure presences commonly known as Evils. But as the tribe was able to survive this long out here in the Wilderness, they surely had certain cards up their sleeves.

Wu was an elder who wielded special force and was respected by every villager in the tribe. Lu Chen was able to defeat the White Wander Roaming Spirit in his body, not only was that thanks to the Vigor in Chen's body, but also Wu's hot soup.

Therefore, only Wu's judgment had enough authority to clear Lu Chen of any suspicion.

Of course, there remained the risk that Wu might be able to see through Lu Chen's real identity. After all, it wasn't the young barbarian Chen but the transmigrator Lu Chen possessing the body now.

“Uncle Da Zhuang, I really can't go on like this anymore. Even if I am really an Evil now, half a deer leg will not bring me anywhere at all. Please, toss me the meat. It's totally fine.”

But Da Zhuang didn't buy that. Clearly, the humans in this world could never get any more vigilant over the Evils and the likes.

And Lu Chen now looked no different than a starving ghoul, how could they not be vigilant?

Seeing that, Lu Chen said in an extremely weak tone, “Sigh, seems like, Uncle Da Zhuang you still don't trust me. But that's alright, I don't blame you. Master Wuzu has said many times, Never trust the words of the Evils. There is nothing wrong with what you are doing.”

“Uncle Da Zhuang, can you answer me one final request? After I die, please bury me beside my parents. It is my final wish that I can still remain with my parents even after death.”

As he finished, Lu Chen stopped asking for food from Uncle Da Zhuang and closed his eyes instead, waiting patiently for his final moment to come.

That, of course, didn't mean Lu Chen had given up. In truth, he was trying his luck to see if the emotional speech would convince Uncle Da Zhuang into giving him the deer leg.

And what followed right after was just as he has expected.

Seeing Lu Chen in his current state, Da Zhuang eventually gave in. He thought of the days spent with Ah'Chen's father hunting in the wild and also Ah'Chen's father's final words before his death.

“I will, brother, I will take care of him like my own son. Be at peace!”

The Wilderness was filled with dangers, especially in recent years, there were many inexplicable incidents that occurred.

In times like these, the bonds between the warriors in the village were at their strongest. After all, they were all they could rely on while hunting in the wild, each and every one of them would be more than willing to have their fellow warriors cover their backs.

Which was also why Da Zhuang couldn't stand to see Lu Chen starve to death in front of his very own eyes.

“Sigh!”

After a long sigh, the muscleman Da Zhuang eventually tossed the deer leg to Lu Chen.

Just as Ah'Chen said, it's only half a deer leg. Even if Ah'Chen is really an Evil now, what can half a deer leg do?

Lu Chen finally convinced him. On the other hand, Lu Chen didn't hesitate for a split second and pounced right down on the deer leg, drinking the blood and chewing on the raw meat, even though it was covered with patches of soil from the ground.

It was important to never underestimate what a man could do in order to survive.

While Lu Chen was gobbling on the deer leg, he finally heaved a breath of relief.

It may not seem like it, but Lu Chen's condition was extremely precarious before he convinced Da Zhuang to give him the food.

Even though Da Zhuang and Ah'Chen were neighbors and were closely related, it wasn't uncommon for an Evil-possessed barbarian to attack those closest to them.

This explained why Da Zhuang was already combat-ready right at the first second of entering through the doors.

If it weren't for his quick wits in suggesting Da Zhuang to look for Wu's help in determining his condition, Da Zhuang might've mistaken him as having possessed by an Evil and hacked him to death already.

Furthermore, not only did he convince Da Zhuang not to kill him, but he also convinced Da Zhuang to toss him the food.

If at any point in this process he made a mistake, Da Zhuang wouldn't have given him the meat.

After all, no matter how close Da Zhuang and Ah'Chen were, Da Zhuang still feared that Ah'Chen was really possessed by an Evil and that the deer leg would regenerate his evil powers.

Whatever now, I am at least saved. But, I should keep this in mind from now onward. Unless I have enough food with me, I should not recklessly level up myself. Experiencing this once is more than enough.

As he rejoiced, Lu Chen didn't stop drinking the deer blood and eating the meat.

It didn't take long for him to devour the deer leg. Fortunately, after he finished the deer leg, the energy consumption of the Highlander also stopped.

He heaved a breath of relief and finally had the time to look around him. Immediately, Lu Chen gave up the thought of standing up.

As of now, after Uncle Da Zhuang shouted for the villagers, the courtyard was now filled with adult barbarians. They surrounded Lu Chen in the center and stared at him vigilantly.

The adult barbarians were all at least 2-meters tall, some were holding canes and some others were equipped with stone axes. Their eyes were sharp like eagles as they pinned him down in their visions. It was only wise that Lu Chen remained on the ground and not make any sudden moves.

“When you see a ghost, don't hesitate. Kill it immediately.”

Those were the words Wu had been repeating to the villagers over and over again. Thus, Lu Chen didn't dare to make any move, afraid that his actions would trigger the barbarians to take action.

Before the situation was resolved, he couldn't stand and couldn't move. While waiting for Wu to arrive, Lu Chen took the time to look at the System Page. He needed to know if Highlander would remain the same as it was after it fused with his body.

I almost died to fuse you with my body. Please don't disappoint me, Highlander.

As he thought, Lu Chen looked at the Skill Page to check the description about Highlander.

However, after he brought up the Skill Page, Lu Chen was dumbfounded at what he saw.

In his Skill Page, there wasn't any Highlander in it.

The moment he found out that his Highlander was gone, Lu Chen was stunned like an idiot.

He had gone through so much suffering and pain to acquire the skill only for it to disappear just like that? It was already a miracle that Lu Chen didn't lose his mind right away.

Fortunately, just before he was about to lose control, Lu Chen noticed an odd icon glimmering with a golden light in the Skill Page.
