Chapter 27 Part 2

Ye Qiao didn’t bother with a rebuttal . As the car started moving, a flash seemed to jump
out from the corner of her eye .

Zhou Tingsheng noticed from the rear view mirror that Ye Qiao seemed startled all of a
sudden and looked around: “What’s wrong?”

Ye Qiao answered with knit brows: “Someone seems to be taking pictures . ”

“Have you seen him?”

“No, just a feeling . ” She was inherently sensitive to cameras, besides a woman’s intuition
couldn’t be overlooked .

Before the car was supposed to drive onto the freeway, Zhou Tingsheng abruptly turned
the steering wheel half a circle to merge into street traffic . It was a weekday afternoon, the
traffic wasn’t too bad but this street intersected with many side streets, each leading to
different directions . Zhou Tingsheng drove for a while and deliberately circled about a few
times before returning to the main road . He laughed and said: “Your intuition’s quite accurate . ”

Ye Qiao checked the rear view mirror and found a black Mazda following them . It was an
ordinary car which could be easily overlooked . She could vaguely make out the person
sitting on the passenger side was wearing a black baseball cap . The cap blocked half of
his face, making him look particularly sinister . If she wasn’t mistaken, there was a black strap
hanging from his neck, quite possibly the strap of a camera .

Her eyes met the man’s eyes in the rear view mirror and she was quite certain who the

person was: “He should be an entertainment news reporter . ” If it was any other day,
Ye Qiao wouldn’t care too much about it . But today, she was going to see a psychiatrist
which was something she didn’t want to make public .

Zhou Tingsheng could tell she was concerned: “Then are we going there or not?”

Ye Qiao didn’t give him a straight answer: “Is there any way to shake him off?” It would be
alright if there was news about her love affair which she could try to clarify, but a report
about seeing a psychiatrist would be something totally different . She simply didn’t want
anyone to know about it .

Zhou Tingsheng squinted as if he was weighing the possibility: “Yes . ”

He was normally a rather cautious driver and Ye Qiao thought it was because he was
concerned about safety on the road . But it turned out that he was quite adept at driving
recklessly . Zhou Tingsheng told her to make sure her seat belt was tightly fastened, then
sped up weaving through lanes . Each time he would barely miss each passing car . There
were times when it looked like his car is going to collide with another, before he skillfully
brushed past the car .

Under his control, the Porsche Cayenne’s agility was pushed to its limits . The car tailing
them couldn’t keep up and was now far behind them . However, since the color of the
Cayenne was too conspicuous, it took much longer than Zhou Tingsheng had estimated
to completely shake the car off .

Zhou Tingsheng drove to a section of the ancient city wall, quite some distance to the city .
He then raced to drive back to the city and arrived at their destination at 4:05 . Five minutes
late . Ye Qiao hurried off the car and rushed to the clinic .

The doctor she was going to see was Dr . Wen . His clinic was located in an old western
style building from the early 20th century . The building was surrounded by a garden with
blooming flowers, which gave the appearance of a rich person’s vacation home . Ye Qiao
rang the bell and watched the flowers inside the garden . The flowers and branches
fluttered in the wind, their intoxicating fragrance permeated in the air .

The office manager, draped with a coat over his shoulder, answered the door . He asked:
“Is this Ms . Ye?”

Ye Qiao said: “En . ” Then she heard the manager ask again: “Who is this?” She turned to
look and found Zhou Tingsheng had followed her after he parking the car . She asked in
surprise: “Aren’t you going to go home?”

“I’ll wait for you inside . ” Zhou Tingsheng insisted . Ye Qiao couldn’t dissuade him and
asked the manager whether it was alright . The manager agreed to let him in but said:
“The doctor doesn’t recommend family members accompanying the patient when they
see him . This gentleman can follow me to the tea room . ”
