Reiryuu Academy Student Council Chapter 37

La Faust Academy Arc

37 The Reception Office and the Library

Students were milling about in front of the reception office. Regardless of whether they were in the middle of their after school club activities or not, they wanted to know what was happening in the room.

It wasn’t surprising. Currently, the students from La Faust Academy and the idols of Reiryuu Academy, the student council executives, were in that room.

Reiryuu Academy, reception office.

Inside were the five student council executives excluding Meru and the visitors from La Faust Academy, Kotokura Seiya and Sakakida Souichirou.

Amidst the tension hanging in the air, the first to open his mouth was Seiya.

“It is an honor to meet the widely renowned student council executives.”

“It is we who should say so. We are grateful that the son of the Kotokura Zaibatsu himself has come to visit.”

The one who replied, Hayate, was full of smiles. It wasn’t a mistake that the other executives thought it was frightening.

“Cutting to the chase, I’ve heard that one of your students demonstrated exemplary negotiation skills to Sakakida here yesterday. Sakakida is an exceedingly superior student even in our school, but he says that female student has an even more wonderful talent than he. I also share his opinion, so I would certainly like to talk with that female student and thus, came to visit.”

At Seiya’s words, the executives other than Hayate held their tongues. They could not lightly refuse the request of the son of the Kotokura Zaibatsu. The only one who could do such a thing was him alone.

“My apologies, but we have a high population of students. Finding just one is a little difficult……”

Hayate said without any hesitation. If he were serious, even looking for one person in all of Japan wasn’t difficult. It went without saying why he didn’t do so despite that.

“How about making an announcement. I think you will know if you ask for the Reiryuu student who came to our school yesterday?”

“It’s already after school, so there is a possibility that she has gone home.”

“Then why did you not do so as soon as I sent the fax? It is unlikely that someone who is the president couldn’t think of something as simple as that.”

“It is presumptuous of me to say so, but if we must go that far to find this person, she would be considered a normal person within our school. She may be an elite in society, but she likely isn’t someone to warrant you going out of your way to come look for her. Even less likely do I think that she has a talent worthy of you especially inviting her to La Faust.”

“Even if that is the case, I don’t mind. If you only recognize that much value in her, then all the more would I like to support her talent.”

Neither one yielded, each having a calm yet firm tone. And then Seiya’s next words hit the mark.

“In my opinion, that you so stubbornly refuse me makes me feel that on the contrary, you are hiding that student.”

Aside from Hayate, the other four’s eyebrows twitched, and seeing that, an intrepid smile saying ‘got you’ spread on Seiya’s face.

“Is that so. I understand. Now I want to meet that student even more. Sakakida knows what she looks like, so you won’t mind if he has a look around the school, right?”

“It’s already after school, so even thinking from the academy’s perspective, we’d prefer if you did that another day.”

Hayate smiled and replied to Seiya’s words. However, his nails were biting into his clenched fist.

At that moment, Meru was alone in the library. She wanted to refuse the invitation without meeting him. Hayate quickly accepted her proposal, so Meru was currently reading a book without sparing any thought to what was happening in the reception office. It was fortunate that even the library committee members were interested in what was happening there, so the library was basically reserved for her. She was lucky.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve had some quiet.”

Saying so, Meru stretched. The reason she didn’t want to go to the reception office was because it was a pain. That was certainly true, but it wasn’t everything. Thinking about that, her eyes dropped just a little bit. She then muttered to herself with a sigh mixed in.

“Well, it’s probably fine, but……”

“What’s fine?”

At the sudden voice that spoke right next to her ear, Meru sprang up as her eyes widened.

“Uwah!!”

When she stood up from her seat and turned around, she saw a white t-shirt, brown necktie, red vest, and brown pants. A man wearing La Faust’s uniform was standing there. Furthermore, he was wearing the uniform casually, and his hair was also rather light. It was all but saying he was a frivolous man.

Whether it was because she held wariness toward La Faust Academy or because she simply held wariness toward this man, she put herself on guard.

“Ehh. This is seriously the first time any woman has put herself on guard against me. You’re a super valuable person, right?”

The man said smiling thoughtlessly. Meru wanted to ask him why he wasn’t in the reception office with the other La Faust students, but as he kept closing the distance between them, she could only continuously step back.

“Why’re you running away?”

“I just don’t want to get close to someone I don’t know.”

This time, it was the man’s eyes’ turn to wide as Meru declared that, and he burst into laughter the next instant.

“You’re funny! Well, you dunno who I am, so you could say that, but! Seriously fresh! That’s super hilarious!”

Let’s find the chance to escape while he’s laughing. Meru thought about that, but even though he was cracking up, she couldn’t find the opportunity.

“If you could, I’d appreciate it if you would move.”

“Hmm, I have to refuse. I’m the type to chase after and corner you if you run away.”

In her long life, Meru had had a variety of experiences, but this was only the second time she felt someone was dangerous on the first meeting. However, this time’s danger was completely different from the first time. That was Meru’s intuition.

“Um, I want to read my book.”

“Then go ahead and read it.”

The book was still at Meru’s seat where she had left it. And right now, Meru was a little ways away from it. In order to read it, she needed the man to move.

“Please mooooove.”

“Noooope. I mean, you’re not happy with a guy as good looking as me getting close? For a girl like you, you’re rarely approached by a guy with this kind of face, right?”

If it were several months ago, she would have nodded, but currently, five people (approximately one person being limited to the athletic festival) immediately came to mind. She once again felt that it was quite incredible, but now wasn’t the time to be thinking about that.

“Umm, if you’re looking for the reception office, it’s on the first floor of this building.”

“Ahh, I’m unrelated to that. I just came to kill time. The library is basically my territory.”

Was he saying that even Reiryuu Academy’s library was his territory? His comment was perfectly ambiguous.

In the meantime, Meru’s back finally hit the wall.

“And it’s the end of the road~. Could it be that you were aiming for this?”

“Leave aside the ridiculous remarks and move.”

Meru said with a troubled face, but since he himself was enjoying that, he turned a deaf ear to her.

“Hey, what’s your name?”

“Normally, you give your own name first.”

“Ahh, I’m Minohara Shin. So?”

“I’m Kusuhara Meru.”

Shin looked at Meru’s face and smiled meaningfully.

“Well then, when you hear my last name and academy, what comes to your mind?”

“Minister for Foreign Affairs Minohara.”

Meru responded disinterestedly, looking bothered. As she did, this time, Shin looked surprised at Meru’s reaction.

“That’s my old man, but……you aren’t surprised?”

“I’m surprised.”

Meru said while shrugging her shoulders. Her words were in direct contrast to her expression, which showed no surprise at all.

“Even though you know he’s my old man, you have that attitude?”

“I don’t have an especially terrible attitude or anything, though.”

Anyone would probably consider Meru speaking with ‘extremely bothersome’ written on her face as a rather bad attitude. Even moreso when considering the one she was talking to was Minister of Foreign Affairs Minohara’s son.

“He-h, Kusuharchan, was it?”

Shin said, gripping both of her hands in his right hand while lifting her chin with the other.

“Wh…..!”

“I’ve decided on how I’ll kill time. I’ll play with you.”

Announcing that, Shin brought his lips near Meru’s.

Reiryuu Academy, reception office.

“By the way, please forgive me. My companion is missing, so might I call him?”

Seiya asked, taking out his smartphone as Hayate readily agreed.

While Seiya was fiddling with his smartphone, Fuuga murmured in a voice only Hayate could hear.

“Kotokura Seiya doesn’t necessarily want to invite Meru-chan earnestly.”

“Yeah, I know.”

“He’s showing us his ‘good young man’ side, but in his heart of hearts, he’s incredibly dangerous, so be careful.”

Telling Hayate the results of his analysis, Fuuga returned to staring hard at Seiya.

“Kamishiro. I don’t mind using hypnotism.”

Shoutarou told Hayate while touching the frame of his glasses, but Hayate shook his head.

“If it isn’t effective, it’ll become a fight, so it’s out of the question.”

“Apologies, I was rash.”

The other party being who he was, they couldn’t take any bold actions. The important thing was to not let Meru meet with Seiya. If he used the power that he had, the man called Kotokura Seiya could possibly force Meru to be admitted against her will.

While the executives were deliberating, Seiya’s call connected to the person he intended. This time, it was properly after one ring.

“Hello. Where are you right now?”

Normally, you couldn’t hear the person on the other end of the line on a phone unless you were close. If you could hear them, it was either because they were on speaker or their voice was considerably loud.

“Shin, what are you……”

“Umm, right now, hey, don’t move, I said.”

“Please cut it out! W-, st-, ow!”

Wrinkles gathered on Seiya’s brow, while all of the executives who suddenly heard Meru’s voice reacted.

“Kotokursama! It’s this voice!”

Sakakida, who was in low spirits until just a moment ago, stood up when he heard Meru’s voice.

“This voice belongs to that female student!”

There was no way to evade after Sakakida’s words.

At the discontented faces of Hayate and the others, Seiya smiled complacently.

“Shin. Bring the female student there and come together to the reception office. It’s urgent.”

Seiya returned his smartphone to the pocket in his uniform and once again faced Hayate and the other executives.

“I found the treasured princess.”
