Queen of Science 11 Rapid Growth

After Simply Explained went live, Fern did not even take a moment to relax. She immediately started to advertise the educational website and draw in users.

Due to the relatively outdated technology, Fern could bypass all cyber-security measures and she could advertise virtually anywhere.

May is the month of final exams for high school and university students. It is the perfect time for Simply Explained to be launched!

Thousands of students throughout the country are trying to find ways to study for exams without feeling like they are slowly dying!

Pretending to be parents and teachers, Fern posted on websites that give advice on education and child development.

Using the identity of a reporter, she wrote news articles that discuss how amazing Simply Explained is.

Fern created fake posts on MyRoom, a popular social networking website, that brought a lot of attention to Simply Explained.

There were a lot of people who doubted the legitimacy of the website, but once people clicked on the videos, there were shocked by how simple and easy-to-understand the lessons are!

After a couple days, Fern did not even have to do any self-advertisement. The netizens who initially stumbled upon the website advertised for her!

"It's so easy!"

"I learned my whole high school education in two days!"

"This website may have made me a genius!"

"Where has this been my whole life?"

"I will show this website to all my students!"

Drawn in by the amazing claims made about the website. Students, teachers, and parents alike were rapidly drawn to Simply Explained!

Even Camilla made a comment to Miles about the website and how they should use it to teach Fern when she is old enough!

The number of website views increased from zero to 10,000 in a single day!

Teachers started applying to work for Simply Explained. They quickly realized the advantages of working for the website. Not only do they get a job that they can do without leaving their home, they also get access to innovative teaching techniques. Plus, who does not want to join a project that can significantly change the way in which people learn?

Recent college graduates also started applying to work for Simply Explained. Saying that you worked for the first educational website geared at more than just children looks great on a resume! People who work for Simply Explained can boast that they have experience with technology and revolutionary methods of education!

Applications poured in from everywhere and by the night of May 11th, Fern already received 50 resumes!

Already users were posting their questions under lesson videos, learning activities, and the forums!

When Fern looked under the comments section of a lesson on cellular respiration, she was alarmed to see that there were already 30 comments! Worried, she quickly scrolled down to the comments with the intentions of responding to questions. Fern started regretting not waiting to hire help staff. How is she supposed to answer all these questions when she can only get to the computer during the night?!

Fern started imagining a melodrama of all of the disgruntled students holding protests against the website on social media and demanding donation money to be returned. Since Fern used her mom's name to start the website, Camilla's reputation would be tarnished, and she would be removed from her position as a university professor. Camilla would have to go into hiding with Fern and Miles. She would never be able to show her face to the academic circle ever again. Once Camilla and Miles found out that Fern is the one who made the website, they would disown Fern and she would be forced to survive the world as a lonesome toddler with no family.

With tears prickling at Fern's eyes, she clicked on one of the comments and started replying when she noticed that it the commenter's question was already answered. Fern was amazed to see that many of the people who applied to work for Simply Explained were already answering user questions! Fern did not have to answer a single question!

Although Fern knew that the applicants probably answered the questions in order to increase their chances of being hired, and not to save Fern from a dismal fate, she was so incredibly grateful for their actions. With warm fuzzies in her heart, Fern wrote their names down on a piece of paper and reminded herself to hire them when she gets around to it. Maybe she will send them a free mug with their first paycheck.

Scrolling through all the comments, Fern notices that about 50 percent of the comments are praising the website and not asking questions. Reading the positive remarks, Fern finally feels like all her hard work has paid off and she has made a positive impact on her new world.

One of the reasons that Fern made Simply Explained is because she wanted to brighten someone's day and change the world a little bit. Fern regrets that she was never able to use her knowledge and work to help society and solve problems such as lack of accessibility to education. Although Fern does not want to be a hero and she is no saint, Fern hopes that Simply Explained will make the world just a little better.

With a smile lingering on her face, the blonde toddler in a moose onesie turns off the computer. In the pitch-dark office, Fern slides down the chair that she was perched on and wobbles into her parent's room. Finally, she climbs into her crib and falls asleep.
